The only thing about shim setup is that it has longer intervals than the traditional nut type adjustment. You might have done periodic valve clearance check on your AS200 as well.

Don't get confused by the earlier few posts discussing heavily on shims and stitching noise, they are just being discussed just to compare and not actually a serious problem.

The stitching sound is not spoiling my riding mood. I use the bike for everyday riding from home to office which is 16km one way with no traffic. when the journey towards office starts there isn't any noise and when I reach office and get off my bike and then revv the bike till 5K there is a very mild stitching noise. I will post a video by today night.

    Cheers,
    Sanjay
Ohk I got it.yes in my as200 I used to do the valve clearance.it was every 5000kms

If all the three thread bolts are torquing correctly without slipping, i.e, (they keep on rotating, but they don't torque or they slip after just when you feel they are tightened) then your casing threads are at fault. Check the gasket Maneesh, and keep us posted.

I guess the culprit is oil cover cap. Cuz the bolts are fine, they are just intact when tightened. It's a new oil gasket so it shouldn't be a problem as well. And there are four bolts but you said three! 😮 Already wasted 500 ml of oil because of this issue removing and fixing it twice. I'm not happy until this is fixed.

The Honda SVC didn't change the oil filter last time as they didn't have stock it seems. It's been changed now after some 15k kms. What's the life time of a oil filter?

Even if there is a hairline crack on the cover, you can expect leaks when the engine warms up. Heat expands metal and any cracks or bends only gets aggravated. And yes CBR has four oil cover bolts.

I'd suggest for peace of mind, replace both the cover and gasket with a new one, see how it fares.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

As for the pdi look for the below things :

          1. coolant level
          2. Engine oil level
          3. too much kms on the ODO
          4. check for tyre treads
          5. handle bar movment
          6. switches should be working fine
One more thing to add here , do check the Radiator fins if they are in good condition. Mine was slightly damaged while collecting , good thing I noticed and got it replaced then and there itself.

Can I have few cbr owners opinion on the stitching noise. Is your CBR also producing very mild stiching noise when heated up a fair bit ?

              Cheers,

The Noise. Yes, its been irritating me during long rides since long. No mech is having a solution. Had got the shim changed at around 25K kms. Now its 34K and the sound is back and prominent. Though, after wearing the helmet, and riding, you can ignore it, still, sometimes while warm idealing, i used to hear the very prominent Tik Tok sound, which is scary. Have changed the Shim, cam tensioner. Now thinking to change the timing chain.

If the mechanic fits a wrong size shim, and as a result, the valves get bent, can the owner of the vehicle sue the SVC?

If so, that could explain the SVC reluctance to fit closely accurate sim sizes.

Guys as a small personal request, I'd be humbled if someone can help me source these. This nut, the clutch play adjuster got severed due to cable misalignment, now I am unable to procure this here and anywhere else. If somebody, anybody can kindly help me source this, it'd be really helpful. The bike hasn't been ridden since this parody. These hardly cost 20 bucks, but I am unable to get it anywhere. Your help would be so much helpful.

This is the same for both the CBR 150 and the CBR 250. I am attaching a photo of it herewith.

Visited the SVC today Didar Honda Chennai. I had a back brake problem.Prior to this I visited my friends service to change engine oil n clean n lube my chain, I think they tightened my clutch n my back brake felt non existent soo went to the Honda service centre to see whatsup. Apparently I have to change my front brake pads , back disc , n chain sprocket set at the next service. The SVC told me the life of the chain Is about 10000km which kinda surprised me as I'm going to be changing it at 21k or 22k, I guess if u lube the chain regularly ,shouldn't be a problem. Also the SVC noticed I'm on a smaller rear, told him my ordeal with the continental tyres which punctured 5 times in a row which forced to change to a smaller 140/60 tyre free of charge of course, figured Ill change front n back together. I think next service will set me back 6k-8k. Would also like to know the problems of running a slightly smaller rear tyre,my cornering capabilities are greatly reduced n I feel like rear height has dropped. The SVC told me to avoid the stock conti tyres and go for Michelin.
