OMG, that's pretty uneven! Sambit - doesn't it affect you r handling? How many kms have you rolled on the Contis? I did notice some bulges on my tyres, but as of now they are quite tiny compared to the massive bulges on yours.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

I had the same one with my first tyre. It is a defect. The rear keeps bouncing up and down even on even roads and handling gets affected a fair bit.

After reading your comments, I ran to see the tire. Funny thing is, its just the angle of the click. Roll the tire, take the pic from same angle, bulge appears at exact same position. That's alright friends, just the threads of the tires creates the illusion.... :P
BTW This is the second set of contigo. Run around 11k. Bike odo 16k. First tire was defective

Got my red beast today. Very exciting to ride, but I am not revving more than 5k RPM.

Few questions..

1. Every time I let go of the the throttle for changing gear, I hear a THUNK sound from the engine. Is this normal? Is that the fuel cut off?
2. Which Honda Engg designed the position of the side stand. Very weirdly designed.
3. When will the break in period end. The bike literally begging to be opened up.

Which idiot told you not to rev beyond 5K RPM? Did they ever own a CBR 250R?

Thunk is normal, nothing to worry on any other points
Side stand...you need to get used to it
Go through your manual, it's 1000 Km.

And you've asked 3 questions by stating two

Hey aargee No one told me to hold at 5k RPM. Its just something that I am doing.
Yeah side stand is something to get used to.
No manual received. I hope I can get it by tomorrow. Apparently they didn't have it. :P
Sentence was edited. But you were quick to catch it.

Thanks and will look for advice from all of you.

For what? To complain about the run-in period or what ?
You only need to avoid sudden acceleration & deceleration (basically the show-off). Do a gradual speeds. To benchmark acceleration, do 80 Kmph in a Km time; keep that kind of acceleration without limiting too much on top speed. Keep it less than 8000 RPM on top gear.

All these & more is posted about an year ago. In due course of time everyone forgot the basics conveniently & love to repeat the same questions. Not your fault, but that's bound to happen with time. So pls refer to post #7500, #7600 & I think it's #8100

Yes, I will try your suggestion from tomorrow. That should keep me going till the break in phase.

If you are referring to the posts put up in the first thread, yes I have read all of them already. So I hope I wont ask questions which are already answered there. If I still do, please abuse me and tell me to read the posts again.

No no, nothing to abuse etc. It really irritates to see no one making use of free knowledge available to learn & yet want to keep repeat the same stuff over & again.

So goahead, don't make any posts & instead you should target to complete your run-in by this Saturday Ride safe & have fun

Friends, completed 1000km yesterday and its been almost 2.5 months since i bought my CBR... I had some tikking sound issue coming from the front right side (not sure from where) while riding... did my 1st service after 300kms and the service guy said the valve clearance is ok... Even after the 1st servicing the sound is still there... Now since a few days when i rev up to more than 6k, i hear a different bolder rattle... so now i have 2 different sounds, tikking from the front and rattle from left mid portion of the bike...
Since i am a newbie i dont know if the rattle is from the engine... i read a lot of forum (national, international) a lot of issues like this... but couldn't find a complete solution...
NIf anyone has resolved or found the solution. please help me....

Further i have 3 questions:
# should i go for 2nd servicing now or wait for 6 months?? i use my bike for office use and dont get to travel long distances... also, these sounds are scaring me to take the bike outside the city for long distances...
# I stay in Nashik and there are 3 honda showrooms. i am not happy from my present dealer... can anyone suggest which honda centre to go for a better service and a good mechanic?
# Where to buy riding gear which has good options and near Nashik. I tried a lot of places here but . planning for mumbai but a good store address will help a lot to decide.

Thanks and sorry for all these questions.. i am in a fix...

@coolhunk Rattling noises please check front number plate... then go on to check fairing screws. Do anything more only after these two things as mentioned many times over on the thread.

Also I own a CBR250r and hardly ever experience any confidence issues to take her out (and I had a batt issue that stalled the bike on my first out of city outing... but that was ittt)... man up bro... Only a 1000 kms run yet, dont worry it'll probably be something very small. Dont take it for the 2nd service yet in my opinion. Run it in (as just mentioned a few posts earlier - no rash sudden rpm increases and keep it below top whack.. oh and NO engine knocking too, keep her in a comfy gear)...

I'm guessing someone from Nashik or closer can help you out with ASCs and gear.

I've finally changed my engine oil from Honda 20W-40W to Shell Advanced Ultra 10w-40w - I don't know if I should say this but there is marked difference in engine characteristics as well apart from smoother gearshifts; I find the engine heating up to optimum temperatures slightly earlier at cold start ups. I find the engine heat being retained at 10-13 min halts in the highway (3 bar remains for longer - I love this fact, dont want fluctuations in those 10 min halts). I find that the sweet spot has now drastically moved to 8500 RPM from 7000RPM (revvability up top is a big big difference - find the bike much more willing to redline now, also loving the fact that I can keep her on 5th and push her harder when I want to)... Overall I now happen to think Honda just wants to sell us its ok grade synthetic oil depending on the reliability of this beautiful machine. There are simply better engine oils that have been duly researched, engineered and developed to a much better quality in terms of mechanical experiences in the engine.

Cheers folks.

Vykier Thanks for the reply... i had checked the number plate and fairing the 1st time itself... all was fine... after the 1st servicing, i took it for a 300km run to open it up.. top speed 135 kmph but kept the rpm within limits... but didnt like the rattle sound very much... no issues in performance but i dont want to give the engine a permanent damage... hope u understand the sentiments... Though i plan to take her to jodhpur, goa and leh (if possible) but unless i am sure about the machine...

Anyways, on the other note, the dealer boasts that he had sold more than 100 CBRs last yr but i cant find one member from this region on this forum... lets see

Keep the replies coming guys...

I wonder how you kept the RPM within run-in limit and still get to 135kmph... coasting? 135kmph on 6th gear is above 8k rpm. 111kmph on 6th gear is 7k rpm. 80kmph on 6th gear is 5k rpm... I'd say you should run it in first below 7-8k rpm and thats pushing it. Keep your horses calm till 5k kms man... its worth the peace of mind.

Cheers.
