  • Hi All,

Suddenly my CBR failed to start, while pushing the starter button, meter console went off and came again.

Heard a short circuit or single tick sound from battery after removed the rider seat for inspection.

Any suggestions or info, before I take the steed for troubleshooting/fix.

    Thanks

Check your battery voltage first off and make sure your battery is providing adequate amps to start turn the engine over, that's one. Secondly, make sure your battery is getting charged properly. Lastly also make sure you check your starter relay in the process.

      Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
      The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

      THE END

        • Hey guys, heard somewhere that the cb300 r slipper clutch is a plug and play fit on our cbr250r, how true or false is this information if anyone can give their takes.

          • Im facing a issue with my CBR 250R, it has a slight ticking sound from engine when its idling or low rpms, engine warm, like after riding for a 100 metres. The ticking sound is intermittent, it comes when stationary or moving, and can be felt through handlebars. The oil is fresh, new oil filter, air filter, and fuel filter is ok too. CCT has been changed 5000 kms back.

The bike idles and moves smoothly, no sound when accelerating or decelerating. It doesnt increase or decrease with engine speed, and the tickings are irregular, like one tick per five seconds, or three ticks one after the other within 2 seconds.

Any idea what this issue could be?

            • Dead 2015 CBR250R non abs.

My CBR250 is completely dead. The LCD display does not power on when turning the ignition, fuel pump does not start, no relay sounds are heard.

I have checked the battery, it is charged and good (also tried connecting a lithium jump starter). I have checked all the fuses as well as the main fuse next to the starter relay. Just in case the main fuse holder had gone bad, I replaced the starter relay assembly. None of that helped.

I think the alternator was going bad, the battery was not charging properly before the bike died. Would a dead alternator kill a bikes electrics completely like this? Should I replace it?

Is there anything else I can check? My service center is increasingly incompetent with anything besides scooters so I would rather fix this myself.

I think the issue may be in your lockset? Since you mentioned no power at all. Check if the wires going to and fro are bitten.

                • Hi guys hows the CBR 250R treating you these days? I guess most of the members here sold their CBR 250. Mine is almost going to touch 90,000 kms, on original engine, clutch, shims, brake discs, radiator/fan, relays, stator coil, rr unit, starter and fuel pump. It eats a battery every 2.5 years though. And the meter console is getting cloudy.

                  • My stator coil got burnt on an Ooty trip. Changed it and the RR unit. For those who want to know if your stator is weak, measure the voltage at the battery while engine is idling, with headlights on. On a new coil, the voltage is above 13.5v at idle itself. If the coil is weak, but not fully burnt, it will still generate 14v at idle rpms but when you turn the headlight on the voltage drops below 13V.

                      Hi leech & everyone,

Finally thought I should stop being a silent reader and actually contribute little about my CBR here.

My brother bought a used 2012 CBR250R ABS back in 2015, and ever since he stopped riding, the bike sat outside under the sun for a few years. I always felt bad seeing it idle, so I decided to take things into my own hands and slowly revive it.

Over the past year, I’ve been putting my salary into bringing the bike back to mechanical health: replaced the lockset (almost 8k by itself), cylinder kit, clutch kit (bell, pressure plates and plates), rocker arms, and a few other bits. Along the way I managed to collect some body panels as well, though all in different colors since sourcing a full set in one color at MRP was impossible.

I also managed to source a BS4 headlight. The wiring was customized to work with the BS3 setup, but the glass was broken. A friend helped me transplant the BS3 glass onto the BS4 unit and it turned out perfect. Now the bike is just waiting for paint so I can have it 100% sorted.

This bike is never being sold. It’s still relevant, still special, and at this point I’m emotionally attached to it.

Excited to be more active here and to share updates once the paintwork is done.
