the chennai track is pretty old..also, in terms of facilities n the state of the track itself..it is miles behind the BIC..

the circuit is an international standard race track..already hosted 1 F1 GP, the 2nd is confirmed for the last week of oct..apart from F1, WSBK n MotoGP will be debuting next year..

many global manufacturers (BMW, Mercedes, Audi...) regularly have track days for their customers..Merc charges 50K for their driving school n 75K for non-customers

i'm not saying 5-6K is justified..but 1 needs to realise..that jaypee have spent millions on infrastructure n facilities..n whats worse is..they dont break even by hosting F1, or other race events, track days is how they slowly n steadily build up..

hope that gives u enough of a perspective..i've been on the track as spectator, was even selected as a marshall..n was witness 2 the 1st track day..n now im gearing up for the 2nd 1
Man, I had no idea of BIC thanks for the patient reply

Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight.

It was not that far on the map.

      • Friends, haven't got time to login hence late update:

Monday morning when I took the bike I found that the front tyre has got flattened completely. Managed to take the bike to a nearest tyre shop and checked for puncture and there were none. And while analyzing found that the wheel had a slight misshape near the tyre walls! And air is getting out of the gap way faster.

Filled up air and rushed to the SVC and left the bike. The tyre almost flattened out again before I reached. I hope I get this wheel replaced under warranty. Could this be the issue which caused that lack of confidence in handling?

Have now given my bike for servicing. Also bought Motul 7100 10w40 cans and gave to the SVC to avoid exuberant oil costs quoted by them.

Very much, Yes. I am surprised this wasn't noticed during the last time the front tyre/wheel was inspected - If the side wall was checked for puncture, they should've over-inflated the tyre and checked for leaks at the tyre/wheel joint. I guess the wheel deformation causing the air leak may be due to any pot holes that were hit decent speeds.

its a result of running over pathholes in high speed. but wonder is it covered under warranty ?? as its a result on user part

            • ^ I do not remember running over a pothole or a ditch as such! And noone else rides my bike other than me.

The misshape is very difficult to spot. It's visible only from a certain angle. And over-inflation could have hidden it from being seen last time.

AFAIK, damage to rims is not covered under warranty since it comes under wear and tear.

A ninja (250R) in our group had a bent wheel from a pothole incident and the wheel had to be changed. Cost - 28k and insurance had to be claimed to cover the expensive cost of damage.

Hello to all the proud GT650R owners,

I have few questions and i think being owners of the machine, you guys would be the best person to reply.

I have come across many review about GT650R, that especially braking from a high speed, the rear one is not that effective. Sometimes it gets locked and sometimes it does not work at all. It seems this is the common problem for this machine.. I test rode GT650R, and wow! I was amazed by the power and torque!! A bike which has got so much of power got to have good braking system.

Please shed some light as to how did u guys feel the braking is for GT650R during high speed runs and emergency stopping. Then i would also like to know how does the bike behave in corners ( i guess the cornering wouldnt be that sharp considering the 200+ kg weight).?

My third and last question would be, what is the average cost of servicing the bike? Is it like normal as in other bigger bikes, or little higher?

                      • Advice to decide on buying GT 650R

Hi Men in Jeans. I have been tracking the ownership experience of yours for GT 650 R and i found that you have often faced some problems from this bike. I have always liked the looks, pricing and its service support of GT 650R. However i didn't purchased this bike so far. I am planning to buy GT 650R this month Black colour. I need your advice in this regard that should i go for this bike or should i wait for triumph to launch Daytona 675R later this year though 2 lakhs higher priced than GT but double the power.
I own CBR 250R and want to graduate to any legal 650cc bike.

I would suggest you wait for a bit and go in for the Triumph daytona 675... I assure you, it will be completely worth the wait... Alternatively look into the 795...

Hi @maxtheo, There have been issues with my bike but all of them were addressed by the SVC guys in such good manner which I doubt I will get anywhere else.

The ownership so far has been enjoyable and heart-touching, and I would suggest the bike to anyone for that matter. But you should know what you are going to get and its issues before buying (be it any bike).

However if you can wait, buy and maintain the Daytona then nothing like it.

                            • Chain Cleaner / Lubricant

I left my bike unattended for almost 3 weeks due to travel. Yesterday, when I came back, I noticed some rust on the chain. Is that normal ? Planning to clean and lubricate this myself this time.

Where can I get a chain cleaner and lubricant in Pune ? Any online seller and what brand is recommended and approximate price?

Chain rust is not normal, unless you're not lubing it as per the correct interval or riding style/conditions. Common to any motorcycle. Use 'Motul chain clean'. Costs Rs.450 for a 400ml bottle. Check for availability at P. DSG -
