But i think its hard job to unmount engine.mainly radiator separation. Because once radiator's hoses removed then they start leaking.

The mechanic who services my bike at Yamaha ASC says in order to adjust tappets properly he has to disconnect the radiator and coolant hoses. Which came as a surprise to me as I thought tappet adjustment has nothing to do with the radiator, but i figured later it was due to the limited space available to work with, and since that guy has huge forearms and wrists, its impossible for him to make accurate adjustments without taking the cooling system apart.
On the plus side I got my coolant flushed and replaced when I got tappets adjustment done, which has only been once so far.

Do post a detailed video of your installation or a detailed pictuesque narration, would definitely come a long way for the users here. The details of the bearing, the part number of the bearing, price, source, the entire requisite. Hope it's not too tall an order.Originally posted by vijaycool View PostI have ordered tapered roller bearing for steering head from pyramid parts. Lets see how it turns up.

3. While draining the old coolant (comes with stock bike) and changing with the new coolant (Motul Motocool Expert), it there any requirement to flush the cooling system (radiator and cooling hose etc.) with distilled water+vinegar solution? or, just drain the old one, pour some water and drain it completely, and then fill the new coolant.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. Pardon me if there is any mistake/difficulty in understanding. Most coolants available outside are basically silicate treated, even the Honda's Radiator Liquid is silicate based, and almost all the GREENISH colored ones are silicates based. Silicates are indeed good and they provide good protection to the metal parts. It's only after those silicates are used up, do they tend to crystallize and do the EXACT OPPOSITE. Usually these happen like the bike is two to three years old with absolute disregard whatsoever. Nonetheless, it's imperative to inspect the cooling system on a proactive basis and replacing the coolant every year is a good place to start with. You can any both the coolants, but when to replace them is the key and aids in the longevity of the system, overall.Originally posted by black asp View PostFind my answers above

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Its difficult but ripping an engine off chassis just for tappets is something unnecessaryLast edited by black asp; 02-24-2018, 05:59 PM.Yamaha RXZ 5 speed (sold)

Sure will try my best. Seriously! I have seen many ASC do not disassemble engine for tappet adjustments. If the mechanic knows which tools are to be used to open the head cover bolts with the small space and how to hold the filler gauge or thickness gauge plates with two fingers in between the gaps, he can do it in right way. You need a small adjustable ratchet wrench with 8mm socket, or a 8mm ring spanner (not recommended) & 8mm spanner to tight those locknuts.Originally posted by vjxm View PostA mechanic friend says if u want to adjust valve clearance properly then engine should be unmounted from chassis.
Possibility to crack or damage the hose in that process.Originally posted by yamahamann View PostThe mechanic who services my bike at Yamaha ASC says in order to adjust tappets properly he has to disconnect the radiator and coolant hoses.
Yes, in a city like Bangalore when the radiator fan is on for a long time during stopped traffic or slow moving traffic daily, it is good idea to drain the coolant once in 12/18 months.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostReplacing the coolant every year is a good place to start with. Parts came to my home pretty fast around 8 days from UK. Oil seal has been included too. I need to find some free time to fix the bearing, hopefully it will fit without major glitch.Originally posted by vijaycool View PostSure will try my best. R15 v2
My r15 is struggling to get over 110 at top gear with pillon me being 60 kg and pillion is 65. There is noise also in the engine tik tik tik. What could be the issue I have changed the engine oil toh motul 5100 15w50 and kindly suggest me if 7100 is good for the bike. My rear tyre is also worn off i think so if that can be the issue.

Help me
I am having issue with my r15 v2 i bought it second hand it's a 2012 model. It has only run 8000 km. I think tappet noise is there in the engine pickup is also very slow and kind of kee sound is always coming through fi. I had a pillon also he was around 63 kg and mine around 59 kg Its not fine but doing good between 80 to 100 but after crossing 100 it is struggling to cross 110. Rear tyre is gone Only 35 or 40% is left is that the issue ? I think the owner did not clean the air filter also. I have renewed the engine oil also with motul 5100 15w50 or should I gave gone for 7100 15w50. Should I give my bike to service center or a local mechanic.

Looks like that's an unused bike, which had been sitting on a shelf for years.Originally posted by Khushwant Oshan View PostKindly answer my query please

This sound is common in FI bikes. when you turn the key to on, Fuel pump primes. Only then Engine starts. This is normal. I hope this is the sound you are refering to.
Just go and Replace Air filter. Air filters have limited life. with dust accumulated in them, that might be clogging air to engine, because of which, you are not able to get the power. Its a 5 min job. you can replace yourself. Check youtube.I had a pillon also he was around 63 kg and mine around 59 kg Its not fine but doing good between 80 to 100 but after crossing 100 it is struggling to cross 110.

You need to replace air filter. These are often viscous air filters, which get completely blocked after some days. Oil is fine. you can stick to either of them. both are very good for regular usage.
If you face excessive skidding from rear tire, just replace it. Even tires have limited life. just check tire make month and year and check tires life in years. go ahead, if it crossed its time. Use it, if it has time left. You need change, if you are an agressive rider. Else, you can pull max life out of it. braking will be poor though.Last edited by kris123456; 03-05-2018, 06:37 PM.
