    Can the stock V2 clutch assembly be SWAPPED with the V3 slipper clutch assembly? Just asking.

      Long time since I’ve posted.

      We, at my family are shifting to one of our other house which is built in such a way that I could easily get the bike inside my new bedroom every single night.

      The room is so small that there is only space for the bike, the bed, the cupboard and some space left to walk.

      The bike sits, right after my bed. And I have this habit of sleeping at the very edge of the bed. (i.e) The bike and I are just inches apart.

      The bike always has a tank’s gas.

      And for my dilemma, is it dangerous to have the bike parked inside the house?

      I’ve read this not so popular opinion on the Internet saying that, fumes of gasoline can get ignited and blast!

        While having the bike next to you and waking up to see the bike each day sounds cool, i wouldn't risk it around with my life. It's also a rare case for the bike to catch fire and explode but hey, why risk it in the first place?

        Instead park the bike just outside the door (inside the compound, if you have one) and take a peek at the bike each morning. That should be safer

          There is a compound but, ever since a Kid I wanted my bike parked inside the bedroom. There was no way I could have done that with my old house. But with this house its unbelievably easy! Just a straight push above the stairs, past the hall and straight into my bedroom just besides the bed where I wanted it to be! It is so simple that I can easily do it every night without procrastinating! I think just having the bike inside the room will lit it up in a big way, but I don't want that to become literal.

            Not really. BS4 engines have EVAP system which catch the fumes out from the tank and re route it to the a canister, so the fumes are effectively well controlled. All motorcycle tanks are vented and even with a full tank, on some motorcycles, you'll have fuel smell emanating, but nothing enough to cause a hazard. Moreover, they'll subside eventually. Don't take a matchstick and throw it into the tank, in which case you'll blow your house along with the bike.

            Talk about timing. Even I am considering to install the slipper clutch on my R15s from the V3. From what it seems, the clutch basket hasn't been touched by Yamaha, and it's almost completely similar to the older ones. Basically, the entire clutch assy i.e. basket/plates/pressure plate, all have to be replaced in our case, and a few bushes if any, but that's pretty much it. But, I will confirm this in a while. In the meantime, I'd suggest, if you can head to your nearest SVC and get a confirmation on the same it'd be extremely helpful. But from my hunch, it's a direct swap.

              Thanks mod, that really sounded relieving. And also from what I've researched the world-wide web extensively, The chances of a motorcycle kept inside the living room starting a fire is only almost impossible. But, a full tank and having the motorcycle inside the house for most of the time can increase the chances of that occurring. As [MENTION=59324]Ashwiin Napster[/MENTION] persuaded, the odds are 1:1000 but even that 1 when it happens, the devastation would be severe. As some of this forum members might recall me, I'm the guy who my rides bike sparingly. 7 years of ownership yet just 25k on the odo. The motorcycle is going to stay in the room a lot! Plus, a mobile charging port in between me and the bike adds fire to the fuel here. (Sparks from the socket might act as a pilot fire to lit the gas vapors!)






              That being all said, I got to this conclusion. I still want the bike left inside the room. It's a childhood dream that I kept carrying. And I'm doing that because one, The fumes of modern bikes indeed are well controlled. Two, I'm renovating the entire room keeping the bike as the center of theme. So I'd be installing ducts on the roof just above the bike. And for case study, I met a guy who I used to know who parks his R15 on his front lobby. He said he smokes on his lobby with his bike five to eight times a day and never ever thought about his bike exploding. So, I guess I can do it with my bike except everyone in my house are teetotalers.

                If you have some preventive measure like auto flame extinguisher will give peace of mind.

                  Thanks, this is the first time I'm getting to know about these. I'm definitely having these. But the point of discussion is about the explosion than the burning flames. Flash point of gas vapors are dangerously low, more so than LPGs and other domesticated fuels. There are many videos on Youtube in which even opening a bottle of petrol near hot places has caused an explosion!

                    hey guys so this is my ownership review of R15 v2.
                    as I was new to biking so I bought s second hand R15 v2 2013 model red white. it had 50k on the odo and the condition was good.
                    I have now clocked 10k kms so it's 60k now and my experience is just awesome. even it's 7 years old but still it runs like butter except the fact that I get a whiff of white smoke while hitting the rev limiter. I am also a diy kind of guy so I prefer to maintain my bike my myself rather of going to the mech as I hate them I don't know why but I just hate them maybe because they just fool people and rip their pocket.
                    I have now used yamalube till now and experience is so so. this time I am thinking to use motul 7100 20w50 as the recommended grade is 10w40 but I am thinking to use 20w40 will it cause any problems? as I am redliner kind of guy so I think it will be of much better use to me. please any expert guyz correct me if I am wrong. I have cleaned the throttle body few days ago and it was full of gunk and grime also I cleaned the fuel pump .I changed the spark plug too.
                    about chains so chain and rear sprocket were fine but my front sprocket was cooked up so got the 14 teeth one which comes for r15 v1 as I wanted to test some mods. it gives a good low end but it lacks in top end I could get upto 135 the 14 teeth one.
                    for lubing thing I am like so much worried about my chain so i lube them every 3 days. I use kerosene for cleaning and 90 grade gear oil for lubing. I have found it to be the best. i spray kerosene on the chain and let the grime fall on its own then use a chain cleaning brush and clean it. then I use a rag and wipe off the remaining grime. at last after 10 15mins i fill the cap of the gear oil bottle half with oil and pour it from inside of the chain on both the sides o- rings.
                    but my lubing schedule is just hectic I just care too much about it I know I am talking rubbing but whenever I see it a little dry it lube it and this happen in around 3 4 days. but I think if I follow this schedule then my sprockets would last at least 30k or 40k kms on redlining.
                    also I am thinking if I reach my limit of chain tightening can I cut 1 link of chain and use it?

                      The previous owner didn't maintain well or prolonged the drain interval of engine oil, and for that the piston rings & valve seals went bad. I recommend, go to trusted mechanic or service center and get it checked. It will cost around 15k+ for new bore, new piston & piston rings, new valves & valve seals, and new coolant.

                      Earlier 1CK models (open looped Fi models, before 2014) recommends 15w50 grade engine oil (AFAIK), and Now 2FB (closed looped Fi models, after 2014) recommends 10w40. My personal usage between Yamalube Sporty Premium 10w40, Motul 300v 10w40 & 15w50, Motul 5100 15w50 & Motul 7100 10w50; I can assure you go with Motul 7100 10w50 (in summer) & 7100 10w40 (in winter), or Motul 300v 10w40 if you are rich (but mind you, motul 300v is racing purpose oil, don't prolong its drain interval).

                      An well tightened & cleaned lubed chain doesn't require frequent lubing, once in 500-600km is just fine. Don't use too much gear oil, otherwise it will split all over the rim, other body panels. Don't use brush, it will damage the o-rings if applied forcibly, use cotton & gently clean one-by-one links.

                      "I am thinking if I reach my limit of chain tightening can I cut 1 link of chain and use it?"
                      Not recommended for sealed chain.

                        Guys, My throttle is not coming back to its original position. When I twist the throttle and leave it wide open it stays open and does not spring back close. It was happening for a couple of months, but now it has become so tight that it hurts my wrists on even daily city commutes of 10-12 kms. I tried lubing up the cable by putting gear oil down the cable using a dropper; but there is no visible space between the inner cable and the outer rubber cable for the oil to go through. I tried several times but all the oil would just drip down and would not go where it is supposed to go.

                        The bike is 5.5 years old and has done 28 K kms.

                        I want to know if there is any other DIY that I can do myself to make it smooth and springy as before?
                        Or my only solution is to replace the whole cable?

                        Please advise.

                          5.5 years is a long time for a throttle cable. It will become tight over time. Better to replace it with a new one.

                              There's a plastic lining between the cable wire and the outer metal covering of the cable, with time due to friction it gets thinner and after some time it erodes completely. That plastic layer results in the smoother movement of the cable inside. So apart from replacing there's no other option available.

                              Or else ask the mechanic to remove the cable from the throttle, put some petrol if the cable if it feels jammed and then some lubricant in the cable from the open end, that will help

                                Hi Brother, I have tried all the do it yourself "Jugaads" at home.
                                The problem is if you take it to local mechanic, he looks at the bike and charges triple amount for what he would charge a discover, or a shine.
                                If you take it to authorized service center, they are morons and know only one thing. Replace the whole part, They have no skills to find a problem and fix it, they just replace the whole part and charge you for it.

                                So at first I opened it and tried putting in chain lube, but there is no space between the metal wire and the rubber hose, so it did not work. next I tried putting in WD40, as it is not viscous and might seep in between, but that has not worked either. I have been ignoring it for past few months, but now its hurting my wrists in less than 10 minutes ride. So I'll replace it this weekend. Seems there is no other way..
