  • Have done about 400kms thrice on a single stretch on my v2, and this bike feels real smooth

Engine roars like a SBK above 7k till 10k. I love to ride on 3rd or 4th gear at high speeds. The roar really is a head turner

    - Flat Tarmac - Stable and planted at high speeds.
    - Ghats/Corners - Blisss.... Every corner makes you feel like rossi
    - Offroad - I tried offroading for 5 to 6 kms, a very bad road, actually it was made only by pebbles. I had to ride slow coz I didnt want any puncture in my tyre.
    - Rain infested roads - Not yet experienced.
    - Single Lane/traffic - Easy to handle, turns easily.
    - Driving comfort over long distances etc - Comfortable for me.

that too with one pillion and a huge bag!

      To RonSyle-
Salute for you! i never imagined to go more than 500km in one day. I CANT"
With pillion surely it's a big No.. They put pressure on your shoulders if they don't know how to sit in R15 and I don't like the loss in power due to pillion.. Always love to ride my beast alone and love the Way it Roars above 7k Rpm.

        • Coolant Leakage-Yamaha R15 V2.0

Hi i am Anik Roy and I am new in xbhp
          I owned a Yamaha R15 V 2.0
i brought it on 19th of this month.

20.03.2013 at the morning I saw there is some liquid on the floor, which was flowed down by side stand.I ignore that.

21.03.2013 at the morning same thing happened. Then I went to the showroom, the service center guys told me it was nothing but some coolant overflow and also told me to not to worry. But I was not satisfied because the coolant were not coming out from the drainage pipes.

22.03.2013 same thing happened again. Then went to service center again and they said "we forget to wash that area, this are the previous overflowed coolant", and then they wash that area.

23.03.2013 same problem. And decide to watch one more day if again same thing happened or not.

24.03.2013 same thing happened again.Because of Sunday had to wait till Monday.

25.03.2013 same problem.Went to service center, they told me to put the bike to them and take it at evening.Did as they directed. When taking the bike I asked them,"What was the problem?was there any leakage?" they replied,"No,it was because for excessive coolant from coolant reservoir. You can relax now."Went back to home.

          26.03.2013 Dammm!! Again same problem!!

*One of my friend have the same bike too,he was surprised after hearing my bike's problem. He never faced this kind of problem.

Is this a serious problem? If yes then What should I do??

          Please help me!

          • Did 550kms in a day.. was tired after that..
It depends on ur stamina and physical stability on the R15 bliv me..

My r15 is an year old.. v2.0 and I got the tappets set yester..
            Whatz the preffered valve clearance?
            I did intake 0.1mm
            Exhaust 0.22mm
Bike feels lil under powered but in gear acceleration is way better.. am missing the high end punch now.. any suggestions?

Congrats man on your new bike.

Please check if the coolant is coming out from the 'cap' of the coolant reservoir as you've said it's not coming from the drainage pipe.
As far as I understand the SVC guys are right. So ride for like more 100 kms, so that the coolant level gets lowered and check if it's still coming out. If so, that could be a problem with some leakage in the reservoir or else you are good to go.
I faced the similar problem but when i checked the coolant level in the reservoir, it was above the 'High' mark resulting in coolant overflow from the reservoir cap.

                    • @Anik & Kuntalnag: Yes this is coolant overflow via reservoir cap. But this is not supposed to happen!
There is a generic problem of cap not fitting in the reservoir properly i guess. Because i am seeing this in lot of V2's.
You can check this by yourself. What you need to do is to remove the side panel,by removing the screw under the rider's seat (left side) and to detach the two pins on the either side of the panel. The reservior will now be visible. In case, the level of coolant is more, then drain the excessive amount. Else the cap is not proper. So buy a new cap from Yamaha and fix it. As a temporary fix i taped the cap with the reservior, since i found this problem in midst on a NH May be you can do this for time being.

The purpose of keeping a cooling system under pressure is to raise the boiling point of the coolant thereby allowing for better cooling. When the intended pressure is exceeded, the spring in the radiator cap is designed to retract thus allowing the boiling coolant to pass into the coolant reservoir. When there is already too much coolant in the reservoir or when too much coolant by passes into the reservoir, boil over occurs. If your bike’s overheating idiot light does not come on then you don’t have to worry too much. However, just a precaution, I would suggest that you ask the SVC to do a pressure test on the radiator cap to rule out a defective radiator cap.
If its coolant leak, very well you are good to go..In my case it was engine oil leak from clutch fork. So check whether its engine oil or coolant. If its kinda sticky, then its engine oil.. Get back with some ifo so that i can help as i had the same problem but none of them replied for me though.. you lucky that so many are replying

As i made a complaint to Yamaha about the vibration sound, which was said as problem with decompressor or valve clearance.
The same manager called me from where i got my V2 and its services "Manager is useless"
i asked him to talk to his mechanic lokesh as what is wrong with it because lokesh was the only mechanic who informed me about the problem on my v2.
he said that he is going to call me once he speak to lokesh in 10 minutes and its more than 24 hours. No feedback.

sometimes i feel that it is the sound of tappet as comes on high rpms or
like i am on 90km/hr and stop accelrating suddenly, then the vibration sound comes and i can clearly listen.(tnnnnnn nnnnnnn)

One question to seniors- Does valve clearance coz any problem in performance and in what extent
                              and what is decompressor?.
                              thanks in advance
