There are quite a lot of scratches on the parts near the pillion seat. Most probable reason would be that instead of holding the rider, pillion tends to hold the frame near the pillion seat. Now if this pillion is wearing any rings\ or bangles and stuff (in case of a female) … it just scratches off the paint in that part. Has anyone of you experienced the same???
For this I had a remedy in mind –
Get a pair of gloves (free size) and make the pillion to wear it every time (no matter who the pillion is)…but this would be a bit extreme.
What else can I do about it???
And yeah is wax polish good enough to hide scratches???If yes, the how much would it cost?? which brand??
Actually the rain cover is only for the upper part of the bag, so the lower part would be painted with splashingOriginally posted by dpak89 View PostYes hope it helps some!
This bag looks very nice and pure VFM from what i see. 55 liters capacity is more than enough for even a week long trip!
BTW can you please post a pic of the rain cover? The V2 has a tendency of splashing the water from rear wheel (hitting the bottom side of the bag) while riding in heavy rains. This happens if you have cut the mudguard (like our case).
For detailed review, you can refer Aargee's post: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/universa...-review-2.html
I am going for a long ride in coming weekend, so can give a detailed review of how it behaves on R15(V2).sigpic

Yesterday night I went for small spin with the CLAW bag just to check whether it holds all things well. Stuffed in 3 denims, 8 T shirts, SLR with case, laptop with cahrger (now that takes a lotta space, tool kit, chain spray can, pair of extra shoes, one sack just in case,2*1.2L tupperware bottles. went from CC to Balewadi stadium. Strapped the bag fastened it safe and secure. and it didnt move an inch. it was right there spot on.
@Eshan: the straps are thin but they do solve the purpose and upto the mark.
With all that stuff. the bag must have been close to around 5 Kg.. Also It serves the dual purpose of back support at times..
tailor made for this bike.
Few things I'd like to mention. The sides which hang down, they tend to move near the tyre and away at times. Do not I repeat DO NOT forget to fasten it tightly.
You need to have serious skills to shove in clothes and stuff in that bag. As neat as you can and you can put in more than enough for a week long ride easily.
Lighter things on the sides like clothes. heavier and delicate stuff on the seat ( middle part) and you are good to go.
P.S. Did not try putting on the rain cover. Already it was 3 in the morning and I was tired after packing and repacking things
For the Bag. Totally worth it

To all those how-to-run-in-the-bike-oh-it's-so-confusing. Here's an advice.
Read and follow the OWNER's Manual. Keep it simple.. Old School technique will do more good than harm your bike

This looks great, good many v2 owners are trying this.
I already have a saddle and tank, will rather invest in further protection inside jacket.
and great work there by dpak89. That was much needed. Drop a PM to any of the mods to place it as the first post in the thread. You will have our support.
and one discussion to propose. v2 as a tourer ?

I guess he/she would be the best person to testify whether V2 can be classified as a Tourer or not
.
As per my opinion, except the 'Offroad' and 'heavy traffic', V2 is a champ on all other categories.
About touring, I've done max 703 kms in one day covering highways, ghats, rain infested roads and several kms of bad patches. No proper off roading though.
Except that bad patch, it was an awesome performer.
Have done many 500 kms a day ride and no complain whatsoever about the comfort and all.sigpic

Would 1200kms justify it in a tourer class? If yes then wait till May!!!Originally posted by kuntalnag View PostIs there anybody who has done Leh-ladakh on V2?

Atleast Semi is worth it.Originally posted by kuntalnag View PostLeh-Ladakh is the benchmark
If you can cover 1200 kms in one day, then 'semi-tourer' can be tagged

I have done ~ 850kms a day twice, ~650 kms a day on numerous occasions, 500 kms a day with pillion too.Originally posted by nastrofaction View PostThis looks great, good many v2 owners are trying this.

- Ghats/Corners
- Offroad

- Driving comfort over long distances etc
On flat tarmac, it gets very boring and feels very underpowered.
Glats, corners - need I say anything? Blissss!
Offroad - Not the best maybe but definitely good
Rain infested roads - I never felt loss of grip due to rains
Single lane/ traffic - One of the easiest bikes to manouver around due to its lightweight and flickability.
Riding comfort over long distances - Well, once you get used to it, riding solo is never a problem. I reached Bangalore at 10 pm when I did the 850 kms ride and I went to office the next day at 8 30 am as usual, no pains at all (only the bum was hurting a little
)
However, with a pillion, atleast to me anything beyond maybe 300 kms a day becomes extremely tiring and painful, both for the rider and pillion.
I remember one guy on this thread stating that he completed the Leh ride on his V2 and rode the bike all the way back till BangaloreOriginally posted by kuntalnag View PostIs there anybody who has done Leh-ladakh on V2?Last edited by TeeJayy; 03-26-2013, 08:32 PM.

@All: Please don't quote the entire message. Just whichever you feel to be changed can be quoted.
That Saves space in this page! Lets keep the thread clean.
14. The tank lock might seem tight at times to open. SOLUTION: spray chain lube inside the lock if its tight in opening. (Teejayy had told me this)
15. If you have suffered punctures, then tyre is not to blame. ride it on the road you will face less punctures. (FYI i have never faced a puncture till date, and yes i have gone on many kinds roads n no roads too :P , lucky maybe)
16. do not wash the bike with soap water (Hair shampoo, Body soap, surf exel :P ) . USE normal water. and do not wash the bike every day or once in 2 days or very often, paint might take a beating. once in a week is more then enough only when its too dirty.
17. the frequent use of closing and opening the Rear view mirrors will loosen the nuts of theirs. keep a spanner handy.
18. VERY IMPORTANT. Read all the above again.
this is common with black colour.Originally posted by Shubham@bikez View PostHi Friends,

this is the main drawback. even my previous bike FZs suffered this. sadly not much can be done. get it polished in service. your solution seems to be good about the gloves. be careful, dont let them over do it ( holding the rear part of the bike) that might cause damage to the tail part in long term.
- Flat Tarmac - amazing if its straight for few kmsOriginally posted by nastrofaction View PostThis looks great, good many v2 owners are trying this.

- Ghats/Corners
- Offroad
- Rain infested roads
- Single Lane/traffic
- Driving comfort over long distances etc
but more then 30kms of highway it gets little boring as Tj said.
- Ghats/Corners- plz check what Tj said
- Offroad- i would rate KTM 4.5 and r15 3 out of 5. so you get the big picture?
- Rain infested roads- never pushed to the limit, but behaves good on wet roads. can trust my braking and the bikes braking. however as usual on any bike, the avg speed will decrease.
- Single Lane/traffic- i dont find problems in traffic
only in heavy stop n go traffic i find it little pain. ( with pillion its pain in traffic)
- Driving comfort over long distances etc - have done 800kms max in a day til now, apart from that 700kms, 600kms and 500kms have been a norm in YRC long rides :P in a day. except my first 600kms ride to ooty i never felt exhausted in other rides. you have to be smart enough to adjust yourself to the comfortable riding positions .
PS: few guys from YRC are gonna attempt leh ladahk n saddlesore this year on V2 :P few of them are here in xbhp.
PPS: tj is not one of them lol. :P (TJ pun intended) (but the truth :P )'On the Road that never ends...'
