Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Hi,
I had my second servicing done yesterday. He did the general servicing with engine oil change. Was there anything else that needed to be done?
I know it is late to ask this question since the service is already done. But I would like to know the missed out part and go back to them and get it done.
Thanks!

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Bizzare. i have highlighted few statements. from the description i feel its not an "issue" of the bike. all the things experienced were on the slopes/declines and hard braking.Originally posted by ashaq54 View PostHi fellow riders, i need your help/suggestion. the problem I am having is a bit tricky to describe, still, I will try to describe it through the attached pic. under normal circumstances, when front-brake is applied, the handle/front fork is supposed to move vertically (downward and upward) in an angle, right..? recently, what I am experiencing is, under hard braking the handle feels wobbly and feels like it's moving horizontally to the front...this happens more during braking on slopes or downward paths..for example, the landing ramp to the parking in the basement...and, during those moments, (i mean when the front brake is applied on slopes only), the handle feels pretty loose in a horizontal dimension...
what might be the reason for it? please do let me know if any of you have come across an issue like this.
btw, i will be taking my ride for the servicing this friday and it has done 5000 KMs so far.
Regards
Wobbling: wobbling of the bike or handle bar is not just because of the bike "issues". if the rider does not control the bike properly in hard braking then the wobbling happens. a little more pressure/push (since the load on the bike is moving front in hard braking) on the right will steer the handle to left and vise versa. that happens in hard braking in front brakes. if there is serious issue with forks/handle bar/anything related to them then it will show in normal riding conditions too. if thats the case you should be at the SVC asap.
BTW you particularly mentioned the landing ramp to the parking in the basement, is the surface plain or rough with any kind of bumps?
Braking on the slopes/declines makes you feel that the bike is gonna flip front like doing stoppie. again which is normal. just sit and think this with calm mind
oil change if needed, oil filter change if needed, washing of the bike if you want, lubing the chain is must, and general checking of the coolant and topping it if needed.Originally posted by Harish Menon View PostHi,

if you have done 500kms-1000kms then do a oil change, oil filter change, chain lubing. these are important.Originally posted by Aditya Khaitan View PostHey guys,

I asked the SVC people about the oil filter change. He mentioned it needs to be changed every 10k Kms. This somehow looks suspicious to me. Is this true??

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
I guess oil filter change is recommended whenever oil is changed. Oil filter o ring change is also highly recommended while oil filter change too. I do it, but know many who never does it.Originally posted by Ron Syl View PostAFAIK its 8k (maximum). but i change filter when i change oil. that is around 2.7k kms. but its also ok to change at 6k. but its just my wish

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Same here. I get the oil filter changed in every servicing along with Oil change.Originally posted by Ron Syl View Postas i said, i change both together
Its just 167 bucks, change it to avoid any unwanted circumstances.
On another note,
I was looking for the front tyre(stock : 90-80-17 : MRF Zapper) for last 1 month. Looked in almost every MRF shop in Pune but could not find. 1 shop had it but was asking for whooping rs/-2300. But atlast, with the help of a very senior memeber of Pune group, got the exact stock one for 1700 bucks
.
Although the rear one was available for 2700
Just wanted to know, is the scenario same in other cities as well ?Last edited by kuntalnag; 06-18-2013, 04:46 PM.sigpic

The manual recommends changing the filter every service (3k km) along with new oil.Originally posted by Harish Menon View PostHi Ron,

From what i understand, if the filter gets clogged with debris then there is a bypass mechanism to let the oil circulate without being filtered !
I don't think you ever want that to happen especially on a new bike. The money saved on the filter is fool's economy.

I got front and rear tyres in Noida for Rs 5k (discount if you buy them both together).Originally posted by kuntalnag View PostJust wanted to know, is the scenario same in other cities as well ?
The MRF dealer had it in stock. No fuss at all. Maybe i just got lucky, i don't know.Last edited by incipient; 06-18-2013, 07:41 PM.

Did the first servicing today at 1000kms. Changed the engine oil and oil filter along with Teflon coat.
Bike feels smoother after first service and the gears have also become smooth to shift

Hi Ron, Thanks for the detailed explanation. however, this is what I have been experiencing:
The kind of wobble/slight movement I am feeling in the handle is not sideways, like left or right...rather, the handle feels like it's loose or moving in the front & back..it's slight but I can feel it..plus, I have been going down that slope 5 days a week for last 3 years...it's quite smooth with no bumps...both on V1 and V2...did not feel like this earlier...under normal riding, the handle feels pretty fine...almost zero vibration or sideways wobbles...it's the downward slopes and under front-braking, the handle feels loose...for example, if right on the slope, I rapidly engage and disengage the front brake, I can feel looseness front & back in the handle...pretty weird, right...?

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Visit YSC. They need to tighten the bolts connecting the handle bar to the chassis. Do it asap inorder to not permanently atler the rake angle.__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _______
