Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
I'm seeing signs of rust in some parts of the bike, one in the frame near the swingarm, and another on the inside of the top of the fuel tank. I'm a bit worried about this, especially about the one in the fuel tank.
EDIT: I'm also looking for adjustable shorty clutch & brake levers for my R15. Has anyone ever tried these before? Where can I get a good set of such levers. I looked at ebay, there are few adjustable levers, but not the shorty ones I'm looking for.Last edited by Ezilkannan; 12-23-2013, 01:36 PM.2013 R15(Sold) | 2014 Duke 390 (Sold) | 2022 Adv 390 | 2022 Ninja 300

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Yes they would. On the Ninja 250 there are already internal threads on the swing arm to install spools. Initially, when I didn't have spools, I used a bolt (longer than the depth of the threads) so that I can use the outer part of the bolt to hook the stand on. Later I opted for swing arm spools for the Ninja over ebay for a mere 500Rs
.
If you have any slot on the R15 to install spools you can order a set from ebay. You would just have to let the seller know about the diameter of the bolt you would require.Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
I got rust in the same places. I just coat the rust spots with engine oil or chain lube. The rust spot on the frame is under control and almost gone but on the fuel tank filler hole its worse. I think this happens when the paint gets removed from those metal parts.Originally posted by Ezilkannan View PostI'm seeing signs of rust in some parts of the bike, one in the frame near the swingarm, and another on the inside of the top of the fuel tank. Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Found the problem.. Today morning, idled it for 5 mins and i saw water dripping from exhaust pipe(about 10 drops, not Much)near rear brake lever.. So its water in exhaust. Now the question is can i remove the co2 checking bolt to remove water or is it sealed with some sealant ?? Or is there any way to remove ??Originally posted by abhimanyu31 View Post^^^ when you open the fuel cap, look at the collar on the fuel tank, there will be a hole the left side. Check to see if the hole is clear.

Strange, water in the exhaust should have evaporated as the engine warms up. There is water somewhere, no question about it. I feel you need to open the air box and check if water seepage has taken place. You can remove the bolt and check if there is water, it should be simply bolted on and not sealed.Originally posted by siddharthsure View PostFound the problem.. Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Even my bike drops water from the place where you are mentioning. Its not that water is accumulated in the exhaust system. Water from the exhaust is a normal condition. One of the byproducts of thecatalytic converter process is transforming harmful vapors into not so harmful vapors, and one of those is water vapor. The vapor will condense on the exhaust pipe walls and accumulate inside it. There is a hole in the bottom of the muffler to allow the trapped water to escape. It is also an indication of a good system. So the water dripping from your exhaust pipe near the brake lever is perfectly normal and that is not the cause for your problem.Originally posted by siddharthsure View PostFound the problem.. Cheers.

I checked the drain of airfilter box.. The rubber cap and no water in it after removing.. Still should i check inside ??Originally posted by abhimanyu31 View PostStrange, water in the exhaust should have evaporated as the engine warms up. There is water somewhere, no question about it. Ya. Check it. However, I have a strong feeling there is water in your fuel tank.Originally posted by siddharthsure View PostI checked the drain of airfilter box.. The rubber cap and no water in it after removing.. Still should i check inside ??

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Rear disc noise ,I know it happens due to dust entrapment between disk and brake pads .but why only in rear disc .I've never faced it in front disc ,noises comes randomly when water is sprayed/reaches disc assembly.
(Not a query or question ,just want your opinions)

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
I have another question, do the allen screws that hold the fairing require torque wrench to tighten them?
PS: Yet to find shorty levers :sigh:
EDIT: Nvm, checked the service manual, specific torque is not required for the fairings.
At what revs are you getting these vibes? and what speed?Originally posted by dhruvausster View PostI am getting some vibrations near the windshield at higher revs. I dont know whats wrong. Can someone help me out with this issue?
