Here is the trick which I learnt hard way... Full CASH to get your Bike/Car doesn't help if you want to get the vehicle soon. Bulk of the Sales at Dealers showroom are driven by Sale guy and Finance people,.... Sales guy pushes the file and decide whom to give the Bike first based on commission he gets out of sale. All Finance guys has tie-up will Sales people at showroom, Sales guy push Financier services depending on who is getting more commission money (avg. Rs.2-3k per unit sale) to him i.e. ICICI, Kotak, HDFC, etc who ever pay high commission he pushes their services AND get the Bike First to the people who are going with Finance.

I was under false impression that if you are paying full cash, then u would get the bike soon...its a false myth

Now you know how to get ur bike soon, go with Finance Scheme... if you want to get even sooner then drop a Rs.1k/ into Sales guy pocket + go with Finance....

A good rider is one who looks at both side of the road, even on One way!

Hey, that method won't give you exact fuel efficiency.

I couldn't spot any visibly striking difference in illumination since the headlamp unit is same as before with 35w bulbs.
A couple of friends are using 55w bulb for high beam and as per their words it's a boon after dark

                  • Thanks everyone for your valuable comment to my last post. I am not getting used to ride the yamaha.

I have question here - is there any easy way to remove the Tyre huger, so that it can be attached again when necessary ?

                          • A New R15 Owner

                            Hello Guys :-)

Im new to xbhp.. A little tit bit about me.. I learnt to drive scooters and bikes well when I was in class X. From then I became a Regular Driver. I daily went to school in my scooty(old version) in Class XI and shifted to the Bajaj Discover 125cc in Class XII.. Till then I had No license but still I managed to drive around 10,000 Kms safe and sound without it. I then shifted to the Pulsar 150cc bike with which i got my license. After Joining college I wasnt able to drive my pulsar to college for the first two years as it was quite distant compared to the distance from home to school. And I was also not accustomed to long distance drives in such bad road conditions. But Still Pulsar was the bike which I rode for a long time. Now in my Third Year I started to drive to college and have been doing so in my Pulsar till it started giving its problems. Now currently drive my FZS to college..

My problem has been that all vehicles which i had has always been given after my parents had ridden them. My Scooty was given to me after my mom drove it for nearly five years. My dad had a 2 year old Discover at that time. He bought a Pulsar and I was then given the Discover. Then after two years I was given the Pulsar when my dad bought the FZS. Now my dad has become a little old and he uses bikes to do the city travels alone in bike and goes to the office in his Swift.

What I mean to say by the above paragraph is that I have never done a Run In. As my dad drives the vehicles for the initial 15k or so kilometers.

Now I currently own a Pulsar and FZS. We have decided to sell the Pulsar as it has done more than 45k Kilometers and its started to give a lot of maintenance problems. Dad has decided to buy me my first New Vehicle for myself. He asked me to select it. I did a lot of research and finally decided to get the R15 Version 2.0 and convinced my dad to buy me one. Dad agreed and Now we booked the New R15 Yesterday. After the Registration formalities it will reach my hands tomorrow Morning and ill be a proud owner of my New R15..

Here lies my question.. I have a fair amount of driving experience but I have never run-in a New Bike.. So Guys Kindly give me tips on what all to do specifically to run in an R15 and to get a long lasting engine with a good average fuel economy.. My previous bikes Discover(55 kmpl) Pulsar(48 kmpl) and FZS(42 kmpl) have returned a fairly decent Average fuel economy so I expect my R15 to return around 40 kmpl.. I dont Rev my bike Unnecessarily and drive in a sane manner.. So Kindly guide me to do a proper run-in

                            Regards
                            AJ

                            • just stay below 6000rpm for first 1000 kms, shift gears around 4000 rpm or so, dont lug it and rest of the info you can find in owners manual. Happy Revving

                                1. Reset your trip meter as soon as you hit reserve, turn the knob to reserve and then head to any petrol station, refill with any amount but note down the amount of petrol filled, say x litres. (Yes, you have to reset trip meter as soon as you hit reserve and not after you've got the tank refilled.)

                                2. Turn the knob to "main/on" as soon as you've refilled the tank by x litres.

                                3. Next time when your bike hit reserve then note down the trip meter reading, say y kms.

                                4. The FE is y/x kmpl.

Repeat the steps for each riding style you may wish to find the FE.

And do post what figures you got in steps 1, 3 and 4.
