Hi thereOriginally posted by nlarsensmith View PostHi guys.
I am new to this website, but have been following little longer. Keep up the good work!
I have 3 queries that is stopping me from getting this fine machinery. Hope your expertise can help me make a decision.
1) Is it comfy for a guy of 173cm in height and weigh about 73?
2) I have had a accident that left my right wrist very weak, since then I have avoided riding heavy bikes / bikes with aggressive seating position as it was hurting my wrists. With time the problem has been reduced drastically but will never be cured 100%. Based on comments from this post I am aware that there would be some stress on the wrists, so please advise whether R15 will be suited for me.
3)I don't have a heavy pocket. So it would be very helpful if you guys would provide a spreadsheet on the maintenance cost that comes with first 6 services.
Hoping for a replay so that it would help me out to determine whether R15 is best suited for me!
1. I made a recent trip of 360 km including 10 km of very bad roads, 40 km of ghat roads. I am 173 and weigh around 90 so that's not a problem.
2. The riding position takes times to get accustomed to. If you keep your arms straight, put the entire load on the wrists then it sure does pain after riding for sometime.
Keep your back straight and bend forward, hold your body position by gripping the tank with your thighs, bend your arms so that there is less stress on the wrists then the baby is a pleasure to drive.
Best advice take a test drive, see how best you can minimize the load on the wrists, and then decide.
3. First service for me was around 765/- (Engine Oil 478.35/- + Filter 169.96/- + Chain Lubing 101.77 + Battery servicing 14.88)
Second service for me was around 495/- (Engine Oil 478.35 + Battery servicing 14.88 only). I took my own Motul chain clean and lube. They were charging around a hundred bucks for lubing and cleaning the chain. I purchased the stuff for 900 bucks and started using it.
So go for a test ride and then decide for yourself

Was really looking for this sort of updates.I am looking to buy one soon(though its a dream since my college days when it was launched).Though I am not planning to get Lehd but still feel that it should have some comfortable travel range for some short trips(200-300kms).Please comment how is it and is it possible fit a tail bag onto this(ofcourse temporarily with bungee chords)?Originally posted by achelis8 View PostHi there

Thanks for your caring reply! I think it will be best if I do a test drive!Originally posted by R15-2.0 View PostYA according to your height there is nothing wrong with compatibility
- cost of first service approx 750 inr
-yes there is some stress on wrist but i will not suggest this bike as you met with an accident so go for street bikes not racing. dont take your health problem lightly.....yaar my personal opinion

I will take a test drive, but will a short test drive tell the entire story about the stress on the wrist?
It seems the maintenance figures are not that bad for me!
Still expecting more valuable response!

No, a short test drive will not tell you the entire story..First can you do any wrist exercise? Simple wrist rotating ones... On a short drive of 10-20km there is no stress on wrist, it starts after that..but after getting used to it, say driving for around 200-300km max, there will not be any stress on wrist in normal cases but hey if you go for off-roading then even a half hour drive is damn painful so test accordingly...Originally posted by nlarsensmith View PostThanks Srikanth!

About Wrist pain. It does pain. I usually have a crouching posture.. Which means I sit back right at the back edge of the seat ( Im 6 feet 1 inch ) I dont have much pain in the back even if I drive for a very long distance but the whole weight and stress is transferred to the Wrist and Palm.. So It generally pains a bit after riding for sometime.. This is for Riding In good roads..I will take a test drive, but will a short test drive tell the entire story about the stress on the wrist?
Any Bumps or bad roads( Bad ones in the sense with a lot of bumps continuosly) this bike with this sitting position your wrists will surely be a goner even after 1-2 kms.. Your wrist and palm pains a lot
So what I generally do in these roads is to come a little forward.. Hug the tank with my thighs.. Sit a little upright.. In that way My Elbow and the throttle will lie on the same line.. So lesser pressure on my wrists and palms.. But cant do this for Normal Trafficy roads because the bike's manuverability takes a beating..
I wouldnt recommend this bike to you because you have a weak wrist..
But still if you think your wrist can hold on.. Just find a friend who has an R15.. Drive it for about 3-4 times for about 10 kms each in good, bad(bumpy) and Trafficy roads.. If you dont have any sort of pain then go ahead:-) Its an awesome bike..

Hi
I mentioned in the previous post about 10 km of bad roads. This is the one.
Yes you can tie a bag with the help of bungee chords. This is how I did it in my recent ride to Bhadrachalam.
Planning to get a tail bag done exclusively to fir the v2. Got some ideas, only waiting for the right person to do it. It is a pain to find guys doing that sort of stuff here in Visakhapatnam.
Anyways will keep you guys posted on this info.
Until then Cheers

Thanks Najmudin! I don't do off-roading! But riding in Chennai is almost similar! The problem is I don't have any friends or colleagues who own a R15 v2.Originally posted by maverick.najju View PostNo, a short test drive will not tell you the entire story..First can you do any wrist exercise? Thanks Sam for you advise! My bad luck, I dont have a friends or colleagues who own a R15 so that I could try to find out whether it works for me!Originally posted by AJSAM92 View PostI wouldnt recommend this bike to you because you have a weak wrist..But still if you think your wrist can hold on.. My travel requirement is never more than 35 km/day. I live near Velachery !
