Camera mount for the R15
Hi guys,
Planning a DIY to mount a camera on my bike.
Fabrication work started. Got the 4mm long allen bolts required. Some rubber washers or more technically 'o' rings for the bolts along with split washers. and some camera bolts with spinners for gripping. Will post the pics of it once done and mounted.
Cheers and happy riding

Attached is the pic...which I had clicked on Day 1...Mumbai
Will be uploading few more...and a slight review.
What I feel is a drastic change from my earlier bike...the 1st Hero Honda Karizma model in 2004... will be updating with the review soon.
I am driving my Bike under 4K RPM. It has completed 160 km in total.
Please guide me with the maintenance. I will be soon changing my Oil at 200Km
Also Sorry folks as you cldnt see the pics before in an earlier post.

Swapnil, would appreciate if you would have a small comparo with the ZMA in your review (esp wrt initial impressions regarding performance)Originally posted by swapnillife View PostWhat I feel is a drastic change from my earlier bike...the 1st Hero Honda Karizma model in 2004... will be updating with the review soon.

@mskr, Yes it was done at Sri Srinivasa Yamaha Service center. Parts procured from them. It is specifically designed for the R15.
BTW forgot to mention that the DIY camera mount bracket has been fabricated. Painting yet to be done. Went shopping for supplies like water proof grit sheets, paints etc. Mostly will sand down in the night and apply first coat of primer tonight. Will keep you guys posted.
That's all folks
Cheers and safe riding

1. ZMA has a perfect lower end -mid range- and slight higher end torque( 7k and the engine almost reaches its max)Originally posted by TeeJayy View PostSwapnil, would appreciate if you would have a small comparo with the ZMA in your review (esp wrt initial impressions regarding performance)
R15 V2 has a good lower end- mid end torque, Havent tested the higher end...but I heard R15 is known for its Engine's higher revs.
2. I did a Straight comparison.
ZMA -223 CC
R15 V2- 150CC (Lower displacement helps with the average...an extra advantage)
And R15 had got extra 50% Engine revvign bandwidth than ZMA. 10500 vs 7000. ( diff= 35000 rpm)
SO to match R15 , zma had to pull 1.5 times better than r15 at a given zone.
so Test SCneario's:
1. ZMA at 2K should match R15 v2 at 2 * 1.5 = 3k
2. ZMA at 3K should match R15 v2 at =4.5K
3. ZMA at 5K should match R15 V2 at 7.5K
Considerign the last case: My ZMA ( or nay ZMA)...does 80kmph at 5K RPM in 5th gear, whereas R15 V2 pulled 70kmph(6th
gear) at just 4.5K RPM ( which is ZMA's 3K...refer point 2 above).
I have not crossed 70KMPH ( my bike is just 4-5 days old).I havent taken my V2 till 7.5K but i guess it will go well beyond 95-100kmph surely.
This all may be confusing if you didnt try to work the numbers in your head
...
Also experts, I very well know the way engine works for both these m/c's is way diff...but this was my first hand observation.
3. About pickup, both bikes give the much needed thrust...but one has to be careful with gear shifting with r15 ...wheras ZMA just didnt let you bother abt gears tht much.
4. Ride quality: this is where R15 made me find reasons to drive it...( ignoring heavy wrist pain- initial 2 days).... Technology is soemthign Yamaha is known for...I came to know this when I rode my brand new R15 V2. My frnd almost spent hrs explaining me why those 35-40K over p220 made much sense... why go for a butter-smooth engine. I loveeeeeeee the ride...
. ZMA is good ( one step behind Honda...Recalled riding a new unicorn on its launch day). and Yamaha is surely one step ahead of Honda ( My view)
I love my ZMA...its my first love( haven't sold it yet)
but R15 V2 is a totally diff thing

Will try to lay my hands onto the R15V2 this weekend.
Has anyone here been on a long (> 200 kms) ride on this bike by far?

I have been on a semi long trip from Visakhapatnam to Bhadrachalam covering 360 km per side. Around 40km of ghat roads, 10 km of pretty bad roads, but she held herself very well.
On the return I opened her up on all gears and hit a max speed of 135 on her (mind you she had done her first service only by then and I weigh around 95 + all my gear and a heavy tailbag tied down with bungee chords.) and still she gave me a whopping 53km/liter average of mileage during the entire trip. She was fun to ride on the trip.
Unfortunately no videos of the trip. But right now I made a camera mount bracket on the tank for her to hold my camera as well as my mobile. So on the next big ride I will get some videos.
Anymore info required just ping me.
Cheers and safe riding

1 ~460 km Pune-Goa
2 ~500 km random roads discovery ride
My verdict
Bad roads are a nightmare for your back
Mileage : no more than 38 if you are above 100 all the time
53/litre is too optimistic i would say.Human by Luck,

Dude I mentioned an average of 53 of the entire trip of 720 km. We ripped her only on the return trip for about 120 km. then slowed down as the others had to come to the rally point.
I am not arguing about the mileage but this is what I got on the entire trip. Planning to go out once again this Sunday with a group of friends to Annavaram from Vizag to see whether she improved during the second service or it is the other way round.
BTW Sanded down the mount.
Applied metal paste to fill in the minor gaps during fabrication work. Now waiting it to cure so that I can sand it down once again to a smooth finish.
Will check for irregularities and proceed to the next step or else I would apply another thin layer of metal paste.
Next step would be the 2 to 3 layers of base coat and sanding and finally the enamel coat with sanding if needed to blend in properly.
Will be finishing off with a rubbing compound to level the paint and then the polish to give it a good look and shine.
Too much work to do.
Anyways cheers and ride safe

Recently I had taken my R15 v2 for her 1st servicing.
A few days later the speedo stopped working sometimes it works ans sometimes it doesnt. The spped indicator stays put at zero when it doesnt work.
Few days later the orange warning light (the one after the high beam indicator) started flashing when i took her to 7k rpm and above. After i dropped down to like 5k-5.5k rpm, the light stopped flashing.
The next day the same waring light started flashing after i started the bike in the morning and would stop after i killed the engine. This however has stopped now and that waring light starts flashing only after i take her to 7k rpm and above. Could someone tell me whats happening here?Yamaha Ray ZR Street Rally -> 2020

Take your bike to the SVC ASAP. Show them the problem and let them sort it out. Do not try to do anything on your own as your bike is under warranty. The speedo problem is most probably due to a defective speed sensor. The orange light is for 'Engine Trouble Warning' and is bigger problem, so do contact SVC at the earliest.Originally posted by hellgate View PostRecently I had taken my R15 v2 for her 1st servicing.
