Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Guys, Just a random doubt! Whenever I go for a drive and return home, At the time when I'm parking the bike, The radiator fan kicks in. I, then stop the engine using the engine kill switch and wait till the fan stops. Is this okay? And what is happening at that time? Is it just the radiator fan running to cool the Radiator? Does that small fan cause that much vibrations and buzzing?
Well, Not much but just a little bit
Just wanna know!

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
I don't know much about it myself, but when the fan kicks in, don't stop the engine immediately. Let it cool for a few minutes and then stop the engine. If you stop the engine as soon as the fan kicks in, then it won't be able to cool-down the engine.Originally posted by Arvind Sibi View PostGuys, Just a random doubt! Will keep that in mind hereafter! Yes I do check the coolant level everyday, It's always at a little above "Max" level!Originally posted by nadz11.ns View PostI don't know much about it myself, but when the fan kicks in, don't stop the engine immediately. Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
One can kill the engine but keep the ignition on to let the fan run, it saves fuel too. This is good when you are in stop and go traffice or waiting at signal, also no idling means no extra heat generated in the process too.Originally posted by nadz11.ns View PostI don't know much about it myself, but when the fan kicks in, don't stop the engine immediately. Thats what i have read somewhere.***Correct me if I am wrong :)

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
The radiator fan cools the coolant inside it which is circulated thru jackets around the cylinder wall. So, if you switch off the engine when the fan is running or has just started running, nothing will happen to the engine or any other components. The ambient air will start cooling the engine as well as the radiator.Originally posted by Arvind Sibi View PostGuys, Just a random doubt! Hello friends... Radiator fan runs little longer than normal when you installed a High flow air filter. My friend facing this problem. Would that make any difference in the engine component? Or continue with stock air filter wouldn't be a bad idea????Originally posted by devils_friend View PostThe radiator fan cools the coolant inside it which is circulated thru jackets around the cylinder wall. Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
R15 has an open loop FI system, hence it cannot adjust itself to change AFR caused by the high flow air filter. So basically your friends engine is running lean hence more heat is produced so the fan is on for a longer time.Originally posted by Suresh@yammie View PostHello friends... PS: this can be corrected using the Yamaha tool to correct AFR.Last edited by akhilash95; 01-17-2014, 09:40 PM.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
I had tried it in my FZ and the bike was loving it way too much.Originally posted by Ezilkannan View PostHas anyone tried Motul 300V 15W50 full synthetic on your R15? I'm thinking of switching over to it in my next oil change. Is it good?
But its level got slightly low with-in 1500kms. Can't say about how R15 would perform.
And filled 7100 last week on R15 and the engine feels very smooth.
you can try this one also.
Ride safe and have fun.

Well, Just to make it clear, There is no circulation of coolant once the Engine is killed and the Radiator fan continues to run, Right?

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
FS should remain good till 3500-4000kms, even ~500km more if you ride sanely.Originally posted by Ezilkannan View Posthow long does the 7100 FS last? Will it last for 3k kms? or do I have to change it again in between?
SS oils have drain intervals of 3000kms, so FS should be good till the above range.
