Muc-off is a UK based brand, so there must be reviews on the Net. Its available in Delhi, but haven't tried it yet.Originally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Post

no i meant reviews from any users here. there are quite a bit reviews on the net, mostly favourable, but would have been nice to hear from some local (meaning indian) users who have to face a lot more of dust, mud, grime etc.Originally posted by incipient View PostMuc-off is a UK based brand, so there must be reviews on the Net. anyway, i think i am going to try the fast action bike cleaner. maybe also the de-greaser and disc brake cleaner and the polishing wax shine or something (necessary?)

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
a general query to anyone (sorry i must be bothering a lot) - should i change/refill the oil at 500kms ? the manual says not to prolongedly ride at RPMs higher than 5000 for the first 500 kms and 7500 for the next 500kms. been following the manual pretty obediently and before today's ride, only a few times (some of which was by mistake) i had gone to 5400-5500RPM for a very short time, which i have read here in this thread is good to do once in a while for a short period of time, and then came back to 5000 or below. however today i went all the way to about 7000RPM (or slightly less) at 6th gear a couple of times even though it's not 500kms yet (it was 430, 440 kms or something at that time). at about 6.5k-7k RPM it started feeling a bit harsh (the same kind (but of lesser intensity) of harshness that i get at 4000 RPM in 1st and 2nd gear, something because the engine is in break-in) so i backed off (even if hadn't felt the harshness probably wouldn't have touched 7500 anyway). almost all reviews of R15 say there's a different "feel" and punch beyond 70-80 kmph but didnt feel like that today (just felt how it feels at 60-70kmph, no change) which i am deeply hoping is because the engine is still in break-in period. so am wondering do i require a engine oil checkup or something in view of the above ?
at 6th gear about 7000 RPM the speed was 105kmph or so but it was so damn fast (and the first time in my life riding anything in the triple digits) didnt really catch anymore than a glimpse at the display system hehe. so that's why i dont know what exact RPM mark the tachometer stick was pointed at, just noticed that it was around 7000RPM.

Good to see someone reading thru the manual AND the earlier pages of the thread, a big thumbs up for that!Originally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Posta general query to anyone (sorry i must be bothering a lot) - should i change/refill the oil at 500kms ? the manual says not to prolongedly ride at RPMs higher than 5000 for the first 500 kms and 7500 for the next 500kms. been following the manual pretty obediently and before today's ride, only a few times (some of which was by mistake) i had gone to 5400-5500RPM for a very short time, which i have read here in this thread is good to do once in a while for a short period of time, and then came back to 5000 or below. however today i went all the way to about 7000RPM (or slightly less) at 6th gear a couple of times even though it's not 500kms yet (it was 430, 440 kms or something at that time). at about 6.5k-7k RPM it started feeling a bit harsh (the same kind (but of lesser intensity) of harshness that i get at 4000 RPM in 1st and 2nd gear, something because the engine is in break-in) so i backed off (even if hadn't felt the harshness probably wouldn't have touched 7500 anyway). almost all reviews of R15 say there's a different "feel" and punch beyond 70-80 kmph but didnt feel like that today (just felt how it feels at 60-70kmph, no change) which i am deeply hoping is because the engine is still in break-in period. so am wondering do i require a engine oil checkup or something in view of the above ?

Relax. The engine and the oil is just fine, no need to replace. The different feel which you are talking of is post 6000k RPM and does not depend on speed. Hold on till the run in gets over, ride to the higher revs and you would understand what the feel is all about

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Nothing to worry unless you didn't avengers hard or quick to reach 7k rpm.. Even if you accelerated hard, doent matter (just once is Ok) but make sure you take it slowly from next time.. And Yea it will feel kinda harsh since engine is new.. Dont worry it will settle down as you run many more miles..Originally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Posta general query to anyone (sorry i must be bothering a lot) - should i change/refill the oil at 500kms ? the manual says not to prolongedly ride at RPMs higher than 5000 for the first 500 kms and 7500 for the next 500kms. been following the manual pretty obediently and before today's ride, only a few times (some of which was by mistake) i had gone to 5400-5500RPM for a very short time, which i have read here in this thread is good to do once in a while for a short period of time, and then came back to 5000 or below. however today i went all the way to about 7000RPM (or slightly less) at 6th gear a couple of times even though it's not 500kms yet (it was 430, 440 kms or something at that time). at about 6.5k-7k RPM it started feeling a bit harsh (the same kind (but of lesser intensity) of harshness that i get at 4000 RPM in 1st and 2nd gear, something because the engine is in break-in) so i backed off (even if hadn't felt the harshness probably wouldn't have touched 7500 anyway). almost all reviews of R15 say there's a different "feel" and punch beyond 70-80 kmph but didnt feel like that today (just felt how it feels at 60-70kmph, no change) which i am deeply hoping is because the engine is still in break-in period. so am wondering do i require a engine oil checkup or something in view of the above ?

About oil no need to change at 500.. Though some ppl insist. yamaha knows what they have done, so follow the manual and change it at 1000km. If you want it, change but change again at 1000km also along with oil filter.. My advice, just stick to manual

Don't worry about the harshness, it will go away as you clock more miles.Originally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Postat about 6.5k-7k RPM it started feeling a bit harsh (the same kind (but of lesser intensity) of harshness that i get at 4000 RPM in 1st and 2nd gear, something because the engine is in break-in) so i backed off (even if hadn't felt the harshness probably wouldn't have touched 7500 anyway).

Its not the speed, its the RPM. Below 5k there's almost nothing, by 6k the engine's starting to wake up and after 7k all the way upto 10k - that's where the real action is.. ;-)

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
crossed 500 kms on the odo so today's ride was all about exploring the 5000-7500 RPM. the bit of harshness that i talked about yesterday at around 7000 RPM has already significantly reduced somehow. but the mileage also has got royally ****ed all of a sudden. i expected mileage to go down significantly but not nearly as much as it seems it did. either that or the fuel meter has got screwed somehow and is showing awfully wrong data.
comfortably negotiating corners at speeds in 90-105 kmph now, and that's just the beginning (not only because it was the first experience at cornering some sweeping corners at those speeds, but also because the knees were no where near the ground if you know what i mean hehe). pure awesomeness.
and also had a first instance of a truly really near accident. luckily somehow i didn't panic thank god and a brutal and likely fatal accident of someone (and mine) due to his negligence and my speed was neatly but nearly avoided. so i am also kinda panicking from the moment's thoughts, while also ecstatic about the speeds and the cornering that those speeds.
by the way, till i get my proper bike cleaning materials, is using mild soap such as those which we apply on our bodies (cinthol etc for example) okay to remove all those bug spots on the fairing etc ? last time i used a little bit of colin here and there to remove the bug spots but was then told here that colin shouldn't really be used on the bike's fairing, paints, etc. so maybe cinthol water for now would be non-harmful ?Last edited by aditya_YZF-R15; 07-19-2013, 08:31 AM.

Its not preferable to use the soaps for cleaning the bike. Just head to motorcycle detailing thread in xbhp to know more about washing , cleaning and other detailing aspects.Originally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Postcrossed 500 kms on the odo so today's ride was all about exploring the 5000-7500 RPM. the bit of harshness that i talked about yesterday at around 7000 RPM has already significantly reduced somehow. but the mileage also has got royally ****ed all of a sudden. i expected mileage to go down significantly but not nearly as much as it seems it did. either that or the fuel meter has got screwed somehow and is showing awfully wrong data.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Hi Guys, I haven't been riding much in the rains here. However, I missed my baby today and thought of taking it out
However, I noticed a problem where the attached pic area is moving i.e. the right side electrical switches area is moving. I can see that twist the whole part but not too freely though. Can I fix it at home? I am going on a 300 km ride tomorrow. So wanted to know whether it would cause any problems?

Aditya, if you keep on following this procedure then i am sure you will ruin your nike's polish and shine and even the surface smoothness will be lost.Originally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Postby the way, till i get my proper bike cleaning materials, is using mild soap such as those which we apply on our bodies (cinthol etc for example) okay to remove all those bug spots on the fairing etc ? last time i used a little bit of colin here and there to remove the bug spots but was then told here that colin shouldn't really be used on the bike's fairing, paints, etc. so maybe cinthol water for now would be non-harmful ?
there is a simple way and quite economical too, to always keep your bike pimp up and neat and clean.
Instead of explaining the whole format just follow this link: How to wash and lube your bike.
Harish well that part remains loose only. You are getting that sensation because you were going to ride after a break. No worries with that. And if you want to confirm just reach out to any Yamaha SVC, they will suggest you same and even you can check it in new stock bikes also.Originally posted by Harish Menon View PostHi Guys, I haven't been riding much in the rains here. Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
well, no soaps then. (saquib i haven't used a soap yet, just made do with water for the most part and used colin's spray only once in little amounts here and there to remove extremely well stuck bug spots).
thanks for the replies saquib and shaneadams. yep i had looked into a few such posts/topics here some weeks ago to get to know the various standard products that people use (though not the post in this thread you linked me to), but for now just wanted to know the best one-time alternative to remove the tough bug spots (without using colin's spray which i was told by others here (and also later on read in other parts of the net) is not good to use on the paints and frame frequently) till i get my hands on various bike cleaning stuff, which will probably be sometime next week.Last edited by aditya_YZF-R15; 07-19-2013, 03:58 PM.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Hey guys. I have completed 2051 on my bike. Recently am hearing some weird sounds from the rear and the front of the bike. First is i hear a chuck sound from the shocks i guess whenever i go over a bump and sometimes a khat also. And from the rear end when some one tries to sit i have heard a khat sound or when over a bump. Does any one has faced this issue?

Check the chain slackness.. Loose chain can cause such 'khat khat' sound when passing through uneven roads..Originally posted by Aditya Khaitan View PostHey guys. I have completed 2051 on my bike. As far i know the chain slackness is perfect. And i have heard the khat sound twice wen a pillion was trying to sit behind me. And the khat noise from front side and the chuck sound from the shocks. The chuck sound is different from the regular shocks sound when i go over a uneven road.Originally posted by nadz11.ns View PostCheck the chain slackness..
