Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Hi Ron.. No this isn't my first bike.. But never come across such a thing in any of my previous bikes.. Just to make sure, the sound comes in neutral gear.. When the clutch is pushed to the extreme end with the half clutch free play setting... As far as I've experienced, there shouldn't be a change in sound or vibes.. Still.. Will get it checked..

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
u said that " But when I push the clutch forward to the end(Half-clutch free-play setting) " which is the process involved in engaging/disengaging the clutch. so you are doing something and you are getting the feedback thats supposed to happen.Originally posted by shreyzee View PostI guess you got me wrong.. Its not while engaging /disengaging gears.. =)

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
What I meant was when the bike is in neutral and still, if I just push the clutch to the end (knowing that in half clutch, at rest position, the clutch lever is somewhere a little bit ahead of half the clutch pressed..) then the noise n vibes appears.. In better words, when u push it to full clutch position.. Lol.. Its a bit difficult to put in words. That's why the confusion. =)

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
@ ron i had the same problem and it had a clutch housing issue there was a clapping sound when the clutch was depressed but not in neutral i ignored it and 4000-5000 kms later it resulted in my plates getting burnt so i suggested him it could be that and get it verified iam not suggesting that he has the same problem but just get it checked at the svc for the peace of mind and plz stop undermining others

action can speak more than words... if it is difficult for you to explain why don't you post a video of the same.. so that we can verify the soundOriginally posted by shreyzee View PostWhat I meant was when the bike is in neutral and still, if I just push the clutch to the end (knowing that in half clutch, at rest position, the clutch lever is somewhere a little bit ahead of half the clutch pressed..) then the noise n vibes appears.. Chill guys.. Its just that the problem is a bit uncommon and difficult to express in words.. Thats why the confusion and misunderstandings.. And this is my 4th bike.. So I'd know if it's normal. =P

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
More than the sound, it's the vibes that can be felt on the handle.. Now that can't be shown in the video.. So let's just chill.. Its a machine and it will be rectified.. No harm in getting it checked.. Just thought of asking if its a normal phenomenon on the r15..still, will try n post a video if it shows something significant.. (if I get time from my busy schedule though..) =POriginally posted by the_ghost_rider View Postaction can speak more than words... if it is difficult for you to explain why don't you post a video of the same.. so that we can verify the sound

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
I do this every time I warm up my engine, I mean warming up the clutch by pulling- releasing clutch lever, and its normal, I mean the sound change and vibrations.Originally posted by shreyzee View PostWhat I meant was when the bike is in neutral and still, if I just push the clutch to the end (knowing that in half clutch, at rest position, the clutch lever is somewhere a little bit ahead of half the clutch pressed..) then the noise n vibes appears.. Why waste money by checking this issue, SVC people would be happy to see owners like this.Last edited by blyzee; 07-25-2013, 09:37 PM.sigpic

Oh.. Alright.. Even I don't think it's a major thing.. Will just get it verified though and update on it.. Should get it checked this Saturday.. FYI the bike is brand new.. Clocked 600 kms only..Originally posted by blyzee View PostI do this every time I warm up my engine, I mean warming up the clutch by pulling- releasing clutch lever, and its normal, I mean the sound change and vibrations.

+1 to blyzee.
I have also noticed the change in vibrations and engine noise whenever u engage or disengage the clutch when your bike is in neutral.
So shreyzee no need to worry about it, its not an issue. Its just the way the bike behaves.
And congrats for your new bike.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
yeah, i guess...will get it serviced in the next few days then..earlier i thought i'd get it serviced at 900-something kms, but yeah servicing earlier is a better idea...more so since i have been riding at 6-7.5 k RPM for the most part at 6th gear ever since i approximately hit 500kms on the odo (as the manual allows you to do that)Originally posted by nadz11.ns View Postthe svc guys don't bother to look into the problems you say..
and about the servicing, 30 days or 1000km is the last limit.. it should be done prior to them.. 700kms around is the best time..
don't always wait for to last moment, get the things done when you feel that the performance is not upto the mark..
now a days, they don't give free service even its one day after the time limit.. like if you go after 31 days, they will use the 2nd free slip. and not use the 1st one.. seen that happening to many guys..

yeah that's a clever idea (telling them i'd be going on a trip) :POriginally posted by petrolhead_chn View PostIt is a good idea to get it serviced prior to schedule. But honestly, why would you want to force the SVC guys mate. They may not pay proper attention or worse they might pay too much attention based on your narration which might have adverse effects if the stars are not in your favor
.
Just tell them you are taking your bike for a long trip and won't be back for the scheduled service.
Good luck!
and no i wouldnt have forced them, just insisted them in a friendly manner. haha.

yeah i too wanted the same on the very day of getting my racing blue which is only 15 days old now...but the showroom mechanic was quite reluctant to do that because of the bike being brand new and it being rainy season right now, even though i insisted him a few times, and then i too thought yeah that's a better idea..made him promise that he'll do that as soon as i get my bike there at the beginning of the winter for this purpose...of course, he then may raise question of next years' rainy days, but i won't accept it then and will remind him of his promise and the hefty tip that i gave him on the delivery day :P

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Ya same happened to me the mechs in bbsr are sure shot morons they refused to cut so after 2nd servicing there was a robotics tournament in our collg and lots of wood cutting and slicing instruments were lying around so took a hack saw heated it to a red colour and sliced through the plastic and voila the new rear tyre hugger now the problem began during rains with muck splashing doing a rangoli on the underside of my bike so tried fixing the cut piece( rear part containg saree guard) back again looked horrible so again took my trusted saw heated it and shortened it a bit so that it looked akin to the split hugger in the new 135ls and there it is serving me well during the rains and uring dry times i take it outOriginally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Postyeah, i guess...will get it serviced in the next few days then..earlier i thought i'd get it serviced at 900-something kms, but yeah servicing earlier is a better idea...more so since i have been riding at 6-7.5 k RPM for the most part at 6th gear ever since i approximately hit 500kms on the odo (as the manual allows you to do that)
