oh, i see...thank god then...been really worried about it since i observed this today (dont know how my eyes never caught it in the last 3 weeks)..yes it smells entirely like petrol and feels the same too on the fingers, so i thought it must be petrol or something.

my bike has not touched the rain or any water in the last 2-3 days though..wondering how some water may have seeped into the exhaust recently.

RSM2852: As Ronnie said, all tyres are weak on wet conditions. But the ones on R15 are a set one can vouch for. If you were to delve into this thread you'd find photos of Eshan who took his bike to the ghats during these monsoons and is seen cornering as they say, like a boss.

Well, its needless to say r15 has leech on surface of its tyres. But i was talking about V.1.0 owned by my Uncle(in a relation but saying a freind is better). My bad i didn't walk through the topic carefully.

Abhi, sorry my bad. Wrong question. Out of the 4 oils mentioned above, which is suitable for R15 under our climatic conditions?

At my place Mobil 1 and Castrol Power 1 is available of the shelf, with Motul 300v available on pre order.

So your opinion is needed on which one to buy

• Need Help !!

Hello Riders ,

My bike has done 9500 km's . I did the fifth service and I didn't start my bike for past 45 days . Today evening , I just started my R15 and i left the bike on idle for 2 mins n rode it for 1 km ..

My observations -

1. The bike started on first push of the electric starter ( Feeling happy ) and I had filled 3 L of petrol previously but now the fuel indicator is not displaying at all . When I checked the fuel tank , very less amount of fuel is present ..

2.The handle bar was hard to turn left/right

3. The bike didn't move freely at all from 1 st gear .

4. I feel like braking r not good n I noticed the rust formation on Disc plates and on Chain ..

I request you guys to clarify and please list out the important things which should be checked as I'm planning to give my bike for service asap.

Hello everyone! My bike is around 4 months and 700 kms old. I ride my bike to college.

Previous Friday, on my way to college, the radiator fan started, after riding it for some time in stop-and-go traffic. This is normal. Happens every time. But the problem was that the engine stalled twice, in very low RPM-s (close to idling RPM), mainly when i pressed the clutch lever. The engine has never stopped on its own before. I thought that as my bike has run very less, maybe the fuel has become bad and that was the reason for the bike to stall. On my way back, i didn't face any traffic and the bike behaved normally (the fan didn't switch on even once). Due to heavy rain, i couldn't use my bike after that. I took it to college today, and the same thing happened. It stalled many times and it happened only after the fan came to life. Even no warning light was blinking. I decided to get it checked at the ASC, on my way back home. Also, i could hear some very light 'phat' sound at irregular intervals. Thought that it was coming from the visor. After college, i went to the ASC and told them about the problem. They checked the bike and found out that the sound was coming from a cracked spark plug cap. They also showed me the leaking spark through the fins of the side fairing. It was shorting due to the crack (that is what they said). I bought a new cap (Rs 76) and they installed it. Since then, the bike is working fine, even after the fan started. Hope that the problem is solved. Don't know how it happened on a new bike. Probably a manufacturing defect. The mechanics were discussing about a similar case, where the high tension lead had to be replaced.

Has anybody experienced anything similar?

Regards.

I would go with the Mobil 1. I have not tried it, but have heard good things about it. Though, I have not tried Mobil 1 or Power 1. I have used the 300V extensively and have found it to be really good.

It would be better, if you can siphon out the fuel and fill it with fresh petrol. Fill the tank fully and see if your fuel indicator starts working again. Else get it checked.

2.The handle bar was hard to turn left/right

Probably your cone set needs to be lubricated. It should become smooth after that and would reduce wear.

3. The bike didn't move freely at all from 1 st gear .

First thing that you should do, is clean and lubricate the chain. By 'freely', did you mean some kind of roughness that you observed? If so, then lube the chain and if possible, get the wheel bearings lubed.

Or is your bike shuddering (giving jerky movement) at low engine speeds? If yes, then probably, you need to clean your injector and fuel lines. Before doing that, try riding aggressively for few kilometers. This should aid in cleaning the injector. Also check the condition of your engine oil. See what the seniors have to say.

4. I feel like braking r not good n I noticed the rust formation on Disc plates and on Chain ..

Rusting seems to be a common problem in R15. For this, you better get it checked at the ASC.

I request you guys to clarify and please list out the important things which should be checked as I'm planning to give my bike for service asap.
Answers are in bold.

No. Always stick to the recomended viscosity. Check the user manual for the recommended viscosity for your area's temp index.

Like I said, refer to the user manual. If you look as section 8-1 of the manual it says I quote 'Yamalube 20W40 SG'. Therefore, the viscosity recommended is 20W40. However, since you have hot conditions like 45c I would recommend 20W50 or maximum 15W50 based on my experience and inputs from my friend and neighbor who works as a chemical engineer in Bharat Petroleum refinery in Mumbai.

Your average low temp do not justify a oil below 15W. A 0W is absolutely no as an option. In fact, I am bit surprised that this oil is being sold in your area. It is something that is used in areas where temp average below 10c.

It is a bit disconcerting to note that most of the questions that pop up on this forum have their answers in the user manual. Yamaha has gone thorough a lot of trouble to make a user manual that's comprehensive and easy to read. However, while people talk about their so called 'precious' bike and how they can't stand having even a scratch or small amount of paint flake off, they don't even bother to read the user manual ...

P.s: this not to you personally, I am just making a general comment. I am happy to help if I can, but reading the user manual will help everyone know and understand their bike better and ultimately lead to better riding experience.

good that its resolved and good you took it to SVC and rectified it and told us this is a good example you have set. BTW whats the idle RMP? keep it between 1.4 to 1.3k rpm. also dont set half clutch (only a suggestion. if it not then ignore)
