Don't worry buddy.
Run-in period is just 1000 kms. 1st 500 kms to keep below5K rpm and the next 500 to keep under 7.5K rpm. Along with these occassional burst to higher rpms are fine.
Short or long...any ride is fine. Just take 10/15 mins break(for your bike and may be for You as well) after every 1 hr of continuos riding. And rain is not atall an issue. Keep the Chain lubricated, that's it.
Enjoy your ride

thanks mate..good to know short rides and rains are not an issue...was really concerned about seeing these 2 things as a strict no-no on that do's and don't's thread but never understood why that's so...anyway.

yes will take breaks in between long rides i might have to do that even after run-in period, for getting myself back in some control out of ecstasy and digest some of the adrenaline

Yes Nonu, this is the price which most of the SVCs are charging.
Also most of the SVCs have displayed the rate list which they are charging from the customers for different type of services.

Well cant comment/suggest on the price they are charging on Annual maintenance Contract, as it varies from SVCs to SVCs and dealerships.
mainly these types of offers are implemented by them to keep luring new customers and keep intact relations with the existing ones.
Do cross verify before availing this facility.

hey guys need your help. Recently i noticed when i leave the the handle of my bike at 60-70 speeds, it pulls towards left. Is this normal or some short problem with the handle or fork? And as mentioned in earlier post my handle is slightly aligned towards right hand side from the day one. I have shown the alignment issue to the SVC guys but they are saying that its proper.
Bike is almost two months old and 1800kms on odo.

The handle bar allignment is indeed normal. There's a simple science of weight disgtribution involved, which is why there's a free play of each bar of only 2mm. Its already explained a couple of hundred pages back. Either dig it up or move on and enjoy your ride.

Also, the turning towards the left issue, well its not exactly an issue. Most of our roads are designed this way to avoid collision of vehicles into the on-coming traffic/divider of sleepy drivers onto either bushes or guarded footpath rails. This is also done to avoid formation of potholes by channelising the water onto the sides and into the drains.

If you still feel there is something wrong, get the fork allignment checked. If found faulty, will cost ₹750 for correction, which techically should be done with a hydraulic press.

saquib3005: Saala, that looks hot. Get on with the log already. DONT forget to mention 'everything' that you carried as luggage and all the money you paid at various interval. Make it as informative as possible.

probably a stupid question, but an uncle confused me about it when i told him i am paying and picking the R15 on monday..he said i won't be allowed to pick up and ride the bike until yamaha gives me the registration papers...is that true, that one cant ride a new bike on the roads before the registration is complete? i know it's going to take like 2 weeks or something to get the registration papers..i thought people are allowed to ride a new bike without reg. papers, as long as one also carries the bill of sale/receipt of the bike or something with himself.

i remember many years ago a batchmate of mine in college buying some new hero honda bike and riding it on the roads even before he got the reg. papers. the big bold "sold" sticker was pasted on both of his number plates and no traffic police ever stopped him. i dont think he even bothered to carry the receipt of having bought the bike from the hero honda showroom.

"Should i ride to coorg on sat or not?", this was the question going on in my mind whole week. "chuck it, lets go"! i finally decided on friday.

Got up early morning on sat, sitting on the bed at 4.30 and again thinking, "should i go or not, lemme msg demc and tel him that m not coming". after fighting with my sleep and thoughts for 5 mins, got geared up and rode.

Sometimes the best things we do are the things that we would have instantly thought about. Rode to coorg for the first time, that too with 26 Yamaha riders. If you ever wish that you find "brothers from another mother" or "best friends" or people who inspire you or people who have helllotta things to tell abt passion or people who have "been there, done that ".... then this was it. I am glad that this thing happened and glad that i attended it and thx to my instincts!

Big thanks to Yamaha Bangalore - Bangalore wheels Initiative Yamaha Freaks, Dempsy OGz ,Renu Kumar and Abhishek Sircar without whom i would not have given 2nd thought abt this. Wonderful ride where "YAMAHA" was another word for "PASSION".
and wonderful ride back with abhi today, riding in 4hours from coorg to bangalore and equally amazing weather.

PS: if u ever thought about living life the way its supposed be lived, then get 2 wheels between your legs make sure its a Yamaha.

Hi guys, I completed my 2nd service today. But odo reads only around 550 kms. 1st service was at around 250 kms. The guys at the service centre said that it was not necessary to change the engine oil. But as i'm still in the run-in period, i insisted in changing. Bike has become very smooth now. I have one question. In the manual, it is given that after completing 500 kms, the bike can be revved above 5000 RPM, but limiting it to 7500 RPM. So can i take her above 5000 RPM? Or should i wait for some time more??

Thanks in advance!
