I'm now done 13500 kms on my odo. I have started using shell advance ultra 10w-40 fs. Since 6000 kms.... Although im satisfied with the performance and silky smooth riding. Just get the feel to check whether any specific fs oil which ensures an ideal performance than shell.. I know its very old thread... Unable to search the related thread.... So can anybody help me?Originally posted by Ivin View PostIt will surely last 4k. But to be on the safer side, you an change at 3k kms. Now I am due for a change. I cant comment on shell because I havent used it. But so far based on reviews I think that the 300v is simply the best.Originally posted by Suresh@yammie View PostI'm now done 13500 kms on my odo. Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
If you want FS oil, you have Motul 300V. This oil has been used by many xbhpian's and they have only praised this oil. Give it a shot. But, mind you, it costs about Rs. 900+/ltr.Originally posted by Suresh@yammie View PostI'm now done 13500 kms on my odo. I have started using shell advance ultra 10w-40 fs. Since 6000 kms.... Yes, coolant stops circulating once the engine stops running. The fan starts running once the thermostat senses rise in coolant temperature.Originally posted by Arvind Sibi View PostThanks for the info, Buddy!
Well, Just to make it clear, There is no circulation of coolant once the Engine is killed and the Radiator fan continues to run, Right?

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Hello buddy.....Sorry for late response I got some connectivity problem. Like you mentioned let me give a shot to 300v motul... Yamaha'$ official oil partner.... But 7100 with 20w40 (correct me if I'm wrong) brought some confusion to me. Please suggest me which one should I go for.....Originally posted by devils_friend View PostIf you want FS oil, you have Motul 300V. Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
But don't you think 20w50 is highly viscous comparatively? My mech claims so and recommends 15w50 all the time. He also showed clearly where all the engine oil circulates and in order to get into all those tiny holes I could see he said an oil of lesser thickness is better.Originally posted by Ivin View PostYou can use 20w50, 20w40, 15w50,10w50 etc etc. Dont worry.
I thought yeah he is right logically and am stuck with the same grade he insisted on!

Its clearly stated in service manual to use either 20w50, 20w40 or 15w50.Originally posted by Yashas Rl View PostBut don't you think 20w50 is highly viscous comparatively? Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
As Ivin said, nothing wrong with the oil viscosity he has mentioned. Also just some advice; if you are really interested in what is good for your bike and how it works, you need to do a lot more than just take your mechanic's advice. A lot of the information out there is just folklore, old information and in many cases just nonsense.Originally posted by Yashas Rl View PostBut don't you think 20w50 is highly viscous comparatively?
