I know they are avaialble at plenty in Ebay, but just want to check out with OEM first if possible.

Thanks
The OEM tank pad of Yamaha is a one with carbon fiber finish and "Racing" written on it. It should be available through the service centers as optional accessories, if your service center doesn't have them then try with some neighboring service centers. They will be having it for sure.

BTW, for first service , always make sure they change the Oil filter and change the oil too. Try to be physically present there when they are doing it. Get the air filter cleaned, and chain lubed and slack adjusted, that's about it.

Do not consider K&N or any free flow air filter as just a filter upgrade would not do any good, on the contrary, being a dusty place we live in it will introduce more dust and water particles(rainy season) and accelerate the wear and tear of the engine components.

I completeley agree with what Krishna has said to the exact. Follow what he said for first service and K&N filters.

Whoa!! You got it cheap!!! I have never bought a tankpad as my bike, 50th anniv. LE with the Racing word inscribed in it, came along with it. But the same cost around 700 INR if bought separately. as far as I know.

Yes the one that comes along with 50th anniversary LE is also bit thicker & with 'Racing' logo inscribed in it.

But mine is standard raring red.. So LE tankpad will not suit my babe as the graphics (less or nothing) are more suited for road rather than track (only on the colour basis though) unlike the LEs, so I opted for a conventional tankpad which should look simple yet with more appeal

P.S: This particular accessory is not listed in their billing system, so they post the entry as 'Cleaner Assy' This trick is invented by Yamaha India Dealers only -Copyright

I love the way you owned her by saying 'my babe'. Truly, whoever owns a R15, refers as 'my babe', 'babe', 'dream'. In my case it is directly 'my first better half'.

Yes Yamaha dealers do bill it as 'Cleaner Assy' and its true in B'lore and Pune also.

It depends on your own taste. BTW, Sunset Red has a red fuel tank, which makes me think that instead of a black tankpad, why don't you go for a silver one or any color which has little tinge of black. Just a personal thought though.

Oops what have I said ... How silly am I to forget that sunset red has got red tank I don't think it looks that brighter if you really consider for look purpose, but it does the job while riding..
siddharthsure: Let me check whether they have silver or any colour.

Well, there were numerous occasion we people have claimed that why we call it as babe, dream, sweetheart etc. it just goes to show how much we love and passionate about our bike, Nobody can say its just a machine which runs once you twist the throttle and goes on and on... If it takes the full demand and satisfy you in all circumstances, is what the way you love the bike as your babe, than the others who hasn't care at all.

Be it R15 (special babe forever) or any bikes for that matter, like most of the dudes here quoting as

" The bike will pay you off the way you love it"

i am starting to doubt if the reserve level is indeed 1.9L as mentioned in the manual...if it is, then i am getting a really really low mileage...in recent times i'd filled the tank fully and waited till it hit the reserve F to refill it...it seems the reserve hits actually at around at least 3.5L in the tank or something ? if not, then my mileage has been ****ed for some reason...anyone else have had the same observation on their R15s ?

i remember many months ago when my bike was brand new some people here were talking about this same thing and some people said the reserve actually seems to hit at somewhere in the 3-4L range..at the time i was in disbelief because i really couldnt accept not believing the manual :P...of course, it makes sense that yamaha would say a lower number to make people be more careful about refilling as soon as F hits up, but still it's not trivial a fact to accept at once that they'd say 1.9 and actually keep it at nearly double of that :P

i really hope it's actually indeed somewhere near 3.5 or so, in which case my mileage has been fine...i dont care too much about mileage with this kind of a machine of course but nonetheless a really low mileage (which would be the case if it's indeed 1.9 or 2 L at the reserve) means something's screwed up inside and that certainly bothers me and that certainly is something i'd be a concerned about seriously..

I have done 120+km in F mode... My mileage hovers around 42-45kmpl. So i dont think Res is 2l. Also i would fill fuel as soon as it hits F mode. Never i can fill above 700RS( approx 8.7l in shell )

Ps: the digital fuel gauge is damn accurate (atleast for me) in R15. I can even tell when a bar would blink (reduce and come up again)
