I think you can. But you have to change both discs, rear caliper along with caliper mount and most probably the swingarm and the chain sprocket kit.Originally posted by Moh.sHaY View PostHi guys. What !!! Are you sure?? R3?? You mean 300cc of sheer pleasure !!! Then it will highly be a twin engine... GOD that would be awesome...Originally posted by Suresh@yammie View PostIts YZF-R3

And the whole thing will cost you a lot. Only the chain sprocket kit will cost you around Rs. 3000 for a new one. Now take a guess and plan accordingly.Originally posted by Ivin View PostI think you can. Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
yamaha applied for trademarking the "R3" name in US and europe, as it was reported i think last month by several bike related websites..which means the R3 will only be for US and europe, while the R25 for india, japan and other asian countries, australia/NZ, south america, south africa etc..

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
So you're saying Yamaha has designed two new engines?? I don't think Yamaha will launch two engines of the same range at around the same time. That just doesn't sound profitable. Kwack has done it with N250 and N300 but they launched it with a 3 years gap, after they had a little profitibality with the N250. Correct me if I am wrong in assuming this.Originally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Postyamaha applied for trademarking the "R3" name in US and europe, as it was reported i think last month by several bike related websites..which means the R3 will only be for US and europe, while the R25 for india, japan and other asian countries, australia/NZ, south america, south africa etc..Yamaha YZF R15 V 2.0 (Oct, 2012 - Present)

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
the two engines would be for not the same markets but different markets, so yes it's plausible yamaha might be making two new but similar engines and chassis in the same CC segment (250-300) at the same time...the ninja 250 and 300 have been for the same markets, thats why the gap of several years...Originally posted by ArnabC View PostSo you're saying Yamaha has designed two new engines?? What 3 years gap are you talking about?Originally posted by ArnabC View PostKwack has done it with N250 and N300 but they launched it with a 3 years gap, after they had a little profitibality with the N250. Correct me if I am wrong in assuming this.
The N250 has been around since 1983. The latest version was made and launched in 2013 alongside the Ninja 300. The same 300 Ninja sold in India(US and Europe) is sold with a 250 engine(and this is not the old 250, it's the new one-2013 ver) in Indonesia (No other difference).
So, I guess it's actually not a big deal creating the same engine with 2 different capacities once it's developed.Last edited by R-series; 03-20-2014, 12:24 AM.Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

The India part is most likely inaccurate. According to Visordown.com "The smaller R25 will likely appear only in markets where there is a 250cc licence step."
And I believe our country do not have such or any license restriction. We will, in all likeliness, get the R3 (if there are two engines) just like we get the Ninja300.The Chronicles of Motorcycling - The Man, The Machine and The Road

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
The reason why we have a N300 is not only the lack of license restriction, it's also the emission norms followed in India, which is same as Euro 4 followed in Europe. That's why it makes sense for Japs to give us same models as sold in Europe.Originally posted by Satellite.kid View PostThe India part is most likely inaccurate. In countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia, currently Euro 2 is followed. So Japs can still sell their old models over there. In my opinion, if an R3 is launched in Europe(which is most probable as they have trade marked the name), we will mostly likely get an R3. If they get a 250, then it's a 250 for India as well.Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

in that case that'd be great then..hadnt read visordown's article on it..yeah as far as i am aware there's no special licensing issue with 250 or whatever, that exists in most european countries where i think i remember reading about several levels of licensing for young riders and lower and mid CC bikes depending on power/weight ratio and such..apparently UK is particularly heavy on motorcycle rules/restrictions, licensing issues etc which since the times of recession has specially affected sportbike market there, or so i read.Last edited by aditya_YZF-R15; 03-20-2014, 01:22 AM.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
The 3 years gap I was talking was the gap between the launches of N250 and N300 in India. I am aware of the fact that N250 has been the pioneer of the quarter-litre segment mostly aimed for the women riders abroad.Originally posted by R-series View PostWhat 3 years gap are you talking about?

But whatever it is we would all like to have the R3 in India.
Hope what you said comes true. We all would be so happy then.Originally posted by Satellite.kid View PostThe India part is most likely inaccurate. According to Visordown.com "The smaller R25 will likely appear only in markets where there is a 250cc licence step."
