I would like to thank all the members for rightly taking the R3 topic out of R15 v2 topic, thus witnessed some important updates & crucial information referred from moto articles. Looking forward to get more and more that as R3/25 thread is getting heat up, Meanwhile its very unfortunate that R25 thread is being closed by mods, as the topic was ferociously getting deviated as OT and going through as very regulation thread of not being very elaborate, hardly any unseen update

Let's keep the R3 thread alive until its far from turning into reality for india
      Cheers:thumbup:

First of all, congratulations and welcome to the club.

Read the manual as krish2778 said, and try to follow it like bible. Its a hard revving bike but don't start revving it from the very first day. Give her some time and run a proper break-in. Yeah you'll have to hold patience till then, trust me all of us here had already passed this test of patience, but you will be rewarded for your patience. Once it is done properly, rev your bike and she will give you back continuous fantastic feedback.

        Break-in of you bike's engine:
1st 500 kms ODO: Rev less than 5k RPM - try to ride in all the gears - city riding will help you the most for this period.
500-1000 kms ODO: Rev less than 6.5k RPM with three or four speed bursts till 9k RPM - try to ride in all the gears - city riding, with some open roads, will help you the most for this period.
1st Service: Oil change and all other customary checks, as per the manual.
1000-3000 kms ODO: Try to rev within 9k - try to ride in all the gears - city riding and weekend short trips will help you the most for this period.
2nd Service: Oil change and all other customary checks, as per the manual.
3000-Infinity kms ODO: Rev your bike as much you want - try to spare the engine from redlining - all the roads will help you now.

For any other enquiries, please go this through thread, search it actually, else you'll be lost, and you'll get your answers.

what a sad ****ing ride i just had..an adolescent dog chasing a hen/chicken/whatever came under my bike and probably died on the spot (which i rather hope instead of it dying slowly)..i saw the hen/chicken running away from the chasing dog on the roadside from a distance and thus slowed myself down blowing horns and all and then all of a sudden it crossed the road in fear of its life getting taken away from the dog and of course the dog chased behind it being too excited to note a vehicle approaching..once my bike stabilised from the jump caused by running over the dog (i thought "hell now i am gonna crash" but i didnt) i looked back and wanted to stop to go back and see if it had died or what but then 2 other dogs started running toward me so i just rode ahead in sadness i wasn't even going that fast, it being a fairly residential area (but devoid of people around since it was the morning).

i was to have a long ride of over 150-160 kms today and this happened when it was just about 18kms or so, so i abandoned the plan and came back because i had been massively distracted with what had just happened and all the mood of a nice long ride after a long time had been washed away. i love dogs including street dogs but they have been a nuisance, particularly in morning rides (which i undertook today after nearly 5 or so months and which i had left undertaking on long before strong winter came which obviously makes mornings unrideable spiritedly) ever since i have been riding. too many times they have caused major disruption, a few times pretty close moments and a couple of times before really really close moments, and i always figured some day or the other i won't be able to save them anyhow or saving them will cause me to crash..

anyway, came back and cleaned up the dog's shredded skin stuck to my bike's lower right area..somehow managed to clean up the front braking assembly including what was possible to clean outside of the places near the pads using narrow plant sticks and water, but obviously to clean it fully i probably need to take it out all...any easy way to clean the front pad and the small open areas around it without taking off the full system ?

Oh that was very sad indeed... I always be very cautious of dogs, cows or even goats when they are showing any evasive signs or too excited to cross over the road at any cost, some of them are clever enough just to assess when to cross the road and many of them are not so
During any battle within or chasing other animals, they tend to loose even the little amount of sense they have , even human doesn't have the tendency to control themselves during this situation(fighting in road) things often turns ugly. They are good animals but we cannot force them to behave in a way and which we wanted them to behave.
So please pay extra attention if you found any animal is showing evasive signs and be prepare to break

Last week I nearly had ridden over a squirrel which was eating something right in the middle of the road, It did notice that I was coming in front but didn't want to loose its food and waited till I come close to it then it got confused, tried to ran on either side (left & right) I rightly reduced the speed to 25km. But still had its tail caught slightly ridden over by front tyre but nothing serious, and it ran away like anything may be at100km. I assessed the situation nicely and gave an ample amount of time to the squirrel to stay away from the road

The talk is doing the rounds but no confirmed news. R15 is coming with an O2 sensor and an advanced FI, which will increase fuel efficiency. All this is being done for complying to the latest emission norms. As far as I know, there will be no structural changes to the bike. But when it will be launched is not known.

R15 has already set a benchmark since 2008 to till date, Yamaha doesn't have to upgrade the engine or increasing the power atleast until releasing R25, to me it doesn't make any sense. They are in the verge of releasing their 250/300 cc, any technical update of R15 is nothing more than reducing the pace at which r25 might supposed to be selling... There should be a distinct difference between R15 & R25 (In-line twin), both in terms of price and power.

In order to maximize the efficiency of the fuel injector, which injects the optimum amount of fuel for different amounts of intake air, YZF-R15 version 2.0 is equipped with a large 3-liter air cleaner. The duct area of the intake duct was designed optimally to optimize the flow of intake air.

This is quoted on the yamaha india's r15 site. So we can expect it to have a closed loop FI.

Just got my "Fox Raptor" knee guards delivered from Ebay. NEW FOX Raptor Motorcycle Racing Riding Knee Shin Guard Pads Protector Gear RED | eBay

Will post a review of how good/bad they are in a few days. Got a serious doubt that these are cheap knock-offs though.

Fox Racing Raptor Knee Guards - Motorcycle Superstore <- Video from this link shows what the originals look like. All the logos on the pads are embossed. I have just 1 logo on each knee guard, that too its more of a rubber piece stuck on the pad. Will still post a review soon.

i see in ebay.in there's quite a lot of inexpensive disc alarm locks, other kind of alarm locks, riding gear etc...clearly at least some of them fake, such as one elbow and knee guard set of AXO (a major protective gear international brand) in just rs 650 (lol).

i guess the disc locks and such aren't fake, since they are of (i think) local companies such as xenos (:P) and so on.

i am actually going to buy some of them even if low quality stuff or even fake, such as a microfibre cleaning cloth at half the price of 3M's..a low quality microfibre cloth can't be any lesser efficient in cleaning than the normal cloth that i use now.

And do remember to change the oil filter, regardless of how old your stock oil filter was.
oil with this grade should have a new oil filter to begin with:thumbup:
