    well yamaha only know when to launch these beauties , one guy from a local Yamaha showroom, he is responsible for PDI , said R25 expected to be launched next year, but our mechanics were already scheduled technical training session of what is R25, prior to troubleshooting session (during the course of launch)

          I used to ride a FZ before my R15 came to my life. Trust me, my riding style was exactly the same as you mentioned. But then I got my R15. For the first 2-3 days I used to rev it as I was doing for the FZ. But then the revving sound of R15 made me crazy and I started revving my engine, though strictly as per the manual as it was in break-in period then.

          0-500 kms < 5k RPM
          500-1000 kms < 6-7k RPM
          1000-3000 kms <9k RPM
          3000 kms-present < Redlining

          I have done almost 22k kms in 16 months without any major issues, though there is a minor issue of a cold start which I guess is because of a faulty fuel system. But the engine still gives me the same output and sound as it did when I took it out of the showroom. The figures at different RPMs at different gears are strictly the same without any change even after so many months and kms. I also touched a speedo speed of 148 kmph while doing the Pune-Bangalore round trip. I did cruise at a constant 120-125kmph for over 2-2.5 hrs without any issue or any objection from the engine in terms of performance. Yamaha has created a gem in R15 in all true sense. Treat your R15 well and she will be super well to you even after years of riding.

          As Ron Syl said, ride your bike as she wants, at higher revs, to have a happily married life, else

          As far as I know, R15V3 is coming soon. One thing is for sure that it will have a lowered pillion seat. Some members here are also saying that it will have an O2 sensor which can be another good addition to the already feature rich R15V2.

          Till then, go for a R15 and she will change your riding style by her sheer performance.

            As far as I think, V3 wont have a lowered pillion seat. The seat is there for the seats sake. Yamaha doesn't want pillion to be comfortable. This aint a bike for that. None of the R series is also pillion friendly, nor the recently launched R125 have a lowered pillion seat. The R25 concept has air bourn seats as well. A higher seat just make the difficulty that the pillion find it hard to climb on it. But the higher class sports bike have much higher rear seats than V2. Lowering it will definitely be a downpoint in looks too.
            The things might come on the new R15 are the all new digital meter and USD froks from R125 just like they took the R125's aluminium swing arm on V2. And slight mods to the fairing will definitely make it a better seller.
            But the thing is, the current bike is selling pretty decently and updates or upgrades are made when the product feels the heat from other rivals(read 150cc sports category). Yamaha might very well have an upgrade in their hand but they just wont release it until the right moment comes.

            For example , the R15 v2 was spied around september 2010 and released around september 2011. The first spy pic and the original product looked the same. The bike had the same engine too from v1. So what in the hell where they testing for more than an year? New fairings ? the swing arm ? . The thing was that v1 was selling like hot cakes at the time !

                Correctly said sirjee !!! Also I would say that there should be some change in the top management of YIM. If you remember, during 2008-2010, YIM launched three new bikes, R15, FZ and Fazer. But after that period no new models. Also YIM was setting up Yamaha Factory Shops at almost every major towns and cities (50 were planned with Mumbai and Chennai loactions got finalised). But then there was a change in the top management which stalled almost everything. We only saw an upgraded version of R15 and a new scooter, Ray. India is now prepared for bigger bikes in 200-400cc segments. And as far as the Yamaha pedigree goes, if they launch bigger bikes right now, those will also sell like hot cakes. YIM is now trying to setup a plant nearby Chennai. Maybe only after this we can expect some bigger models from Yamaha in India. But hoping that doesn't happen.

                  It was the much anticipated at the time when R15 v2 was released, we also aware that v2 have witnessed a massive upgrades right from the tweaked engine (thanks for the remapped ECU:thumbup: for increased accuracy) to the all new R6 inspired tail, aluminium swingarm, that's not all but wonderfully sculptured fairing which covers Yammie's very own innovative delta box frame designed for Improved dynamics. Beside all the major upgrades that were happened but eventually the instrument console were remain unchanged which lacks the clock (must needed one for a sportbike in the calibre of R series) sidestand indicator, low battery indicator, lap timer, gear shift indicator & service due indicator to some extend USD can be justified with high cost factor in comparison with the normal telescopic fork although it would and fork assembly need to be restructured,

                  I'm very happy that yamaha stood up to the occasion and sees through atleast half of the things which we all would have wanted to feature in the console if not all:thumbup:

                    Some bad news is that the showrooms are getting 2014 models, but with 2013 colour scheme itself. You can get the 2014 manufactured ones now. You can go with that or wait for the new colour sceme. Its your choice

                    Check the pic. The piece of white sticker I marked has had info about year of manufacture in the past, while I have also seen bikes without the year marking. Read that sticker. Sometimes, it will be written.

                      Has anyone removed the bar ends from your bike? I tried but the bar end is moving with the allen screw. What is the proper way to remove the bar ends?

                        Try pluck it out forcely. Mind you, there are many things that connects the bar end wight with the bar. Dont get it damaged.

                          pluck it out forcely? How can I do that? There is an allen screw that holds the bar end with the handlebar. It may have some locktite which will make it difficult to remove, but I can heat the bar end to loosen it out. The problem is when I try to unscrew the allen, the barend rotates along with it.

                            Afaik, the allen key has no use there. There is a lock inside it. You can get it at svc at a price of Rs.8 per piece if its broken. Dont care about the allen key. Just pull it out.
                            I dont know if that is the correct way to do it. But thats how svc here do it.

                                Hold the bar end with a cutting player and unscrew with an allen key. The cutting player makes the bar end not to move:thumbup:
