Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
You might wanna wait for the R15V3 to hit the market in few months. the news is getting solid day by day.Originally posted by tusilal View PostHi. I currently have an FZ and I'm going to buy the r15 as soon as the 2014 models hit the showrooms. Now, the problem is that i'm a typical babysitter of my bikes. Although, I don't hold the clutch when i release the throttle but i generally don't rev my bike too hard.
I usually upshift between 3-4k rpm. I know that r15 is a rev happy bike but would that also mean that if i don't rev it till 5-6k for upshifting, i may have problems with the bike in future because of babysitting it too much?
I know i'd be under utilizing the bike's capacity but just wanted to make sure if the bike will suit my riding style. It may also happen that this bike changes my riding style (maybe i've never owned a rev happy machine ever hence don't like revving hard).
Any inputs are much appreciated.

and about riding and babysitting i will just say one thing, "ride her the way she has to be ridden. its like a different key to each different lock. once u dont ride her liek the way she has to be ridden, she will leave u "
dont over think much, not gonna help you. fz and r15 are different. r15 is best when kept between 4k-8krpm. do anything in between these with occasional burst to 9k-10k rpm

yeah sorry that's right, i misread that...Originally posted by Ezilkannan View PostGuys, I don't think he switched to 150 tires. He simply put it up for comparison with the 130, because the 130 looks newer than the 150.
the stock 130 in that pic looks a bit different though..

Guys , Help!
There is a knocking sound coming out of my bike. I just can't describe it in words. The sound comes in a different note. A harsh/rough one. The sound is almost opposite to the *sweet* sound when the bike was new. I changed my oil to motul 7100 fully synthetic in my last service as motul 300v wasn't available.
I can't really blame the oil but after changing it, the bike is harsh :banghead:
And one more query, the bike is full of vibrations.. just after passing 4k rpm, small vibrations appear and just after crossing 6k rpm, I can listen to the vibes from the inside of my helmet. On top of that , even the mirror (reflective part) vibrates
Took the bike to SVC, they removed the cowling , the visor and the mirrors and re-fitted them , but the problem still persists. Put a foam particle near visors but it isn't of any help. Please help me resolve these both issues. Thanks

No no guys, that's just a comparo on how they look off the rim.Originally posted by Suresh@yammie View PostBro...Did you really opt for 150 in place of 130 stock tyre:what:
Thats it. The metzeler is of a friend . Not all would buy that tyre at that cost. So just thought of clicking some pics.Originally posted by Ezilkannan View PostGuys, I don't think he switched to 150 tires. Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
I'm going to do drifting and worn out the rear tyre, because they both still new and even the treads got more friction even after clocking 15k on odo, but certainly once after seen the pics which Ivin had posted, makes me itching to go for it at any cost because its perfect shoeOriginally posted by aditya_YZF-R15 View Postthe one Ivin posted...looks to me like there's too many grooves/treads on it as compared to what i see on the R15 stocks, lol
for the little R for sure

Whats the average life of the stock chain and sprocket?

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Hmmm.....25 to 30k(correct me if I'm wrong) but it may last further up depends on usage & the ones had couple of long stretches might not get fall on the above mentioned figure & this is also applicable only for periodically maintained and serviced chains and sprockets.Originally posted by Ezilkannan View PostWhats the average life of the stock chain and sprocket?Last edited by Suresh@yammie; 02-23-2014, 10:51 PM.

Wow, do they really last for 25k kms? I thought they would roughly do 20k at max.Originally posted by Suresh@yammie View PostHmmm.....25 to 30k(correct me if I'm wrong) but it may last further up depends on usage & the ones had couple of long stretches might not get fall on the above mentioned figure & this is also applicable only for periodically maintained and serviced chains and sprockets.Last edited by Ezilkannan; 02-23-2014, 11:04 PM.2013 R15(Sold) | 2014 Duke 390 (Sold) | 2022 Adv 390 | 2022 Ninja 300

Which tyre are you talking about? He is replacing with stock only. The Metzler is not for R15 ( i mean the size ). In pic: right is stock rear and left is MetzlerOriginally posted by Suresh@yammie View PostI'm going to do drifting and worn out the rear tyre, because they both still new and even the treads got more friction even after clocking 15k on odo, but certainly once after seen the pics which Ivin had posted, makes me itching to go for it at any cost because its perfect shoe
