  • insurance renewal for yamaha r15

@All: My bike is nearing completion of 1 year, and its now time for the insurance renewal (valid till 25th Dec 2013).
The insurance was done with 'IFFCO-TOKIO' by the showroom that I purchased the bike from.
The IDV(Insured's declared Value) of the vehicle under this first insurance contract was INR 1,04,738 with premium of INR 1964.82 (Own damage Premium 1341.70 + third party damage 407.00 + tax)

I have received a letter for renewal from the same insurance company for IDV 98,382.00RS and premium of 1,889.72RS.
(no insurance claims made till date).
Will this insurance company covers full protection? i mean Own crash/stolen OR just a third party crash ( In this case you have to book a complaint to Police and all formalities)

I checked out ICICI lombard and there was an option to select type of previous policy. I selected Third party and automatically showing IDV INR 1,04,738 which was first IDV when i purchased and premium for this was INR 1957.

    Quetions
    1) What is the difference between a Comprehensive and third party policy.
2)Since this is my second policy the IDV will be reduced down than my first IDV? Or if i am changing company then it considers the first IDV?
3)I want a policy which will cover all types of calamaties(self crash/stolen/third party crash)
4)should i continue with the same Insurance company or go for other?

    Thanks in advance

Has anyone tried this paddock stand for their R15? I'm thinking about getting this.
Kraftewerk Universal Paddock Stand - 3,499.00Rs
This is the kraftewerk universal paddock stand sold by dsg.

Also, I'm thinking about doing stuff like chain cleaning, lubing, and changing engine oil by myself from now on. Anything specific that I should keep in mind while doing these? And what are the stuff that I must do when I service the bike.

Btw, bike has done 5.5k kms so far, which means the next service is due just 500 kms from now on.

Yep that's the one I use for my ninja. You won't find any less of lesser price, unless it's locally made or 2nd hand.
One of the reviews in the dsg website is by me, you can go through that.
Keep 2 things in mind while using the stand.
Don't sit on it while the bike is on the stand, it might cause the stand to deform. And ensure not to start the engine while the bike is on the stand. Vibrations might cause the deformations as well.
To ensure they have the stand in stock you an give them a call. I received it within a week of ordering it.
To see how it looks, you can check the pics on one of the DIY thread for the ninja 250.

Nothing as such, just get the Air-Filter pressure cleaned once in a while from some tyre shop.
Change the Oil-Filter with every oil change. Rest is normal
The SVC mechs also don't do anything more than this.

          Ride safe and have fun.

Absolutely true mate. Got my bike seviced last week and svc chaps did a crappy job. Its a better idea to lube the chain ourselves.

Guys.... i got some serious problem I gave my bike for water wash today evening and i was nearby guiding him not to spray water over electrical parts and engine (Near spark plug).. It was running fine and now and now i filled her up for 500 bucks at SHELL (Usual place) and after that it struggles and stops after 10 secs of running everytime.. It stops > i push the starter > Starts fine > Runs for 10 secs and then struggle if i give throttle and stops.. I tried revving it and it revs fine.. Whats the problem?? petrol or water in electronics or spark plug? And how to fix it?

PS: Battery is in super good condition..

Please help... @abhimanyu31 @Ron Syl or any seniors

Guys has anyone of you here faced an issue with fuel pump in your r15? My zmr's pump is having an issue and the solution is to replace the brushes inside. Has anyone done it or have any idea as to where I can get the brushes changed?

Was compressed air used to dry the bike? If no, the remove the spark plug cap, spray WD40 and dry the plug before putting the plug cap back on. Also it is possible that you have water in the fuel tank. The water draining pipe system in the collar of the fuel cap is prone to clogging and retaining water in the collar. Once the fuel cap is opened water goes into the fuel tank. If that is the case the fuel will need to be drained and the fuel tank cleaned before fresh fuel is put in. You should be ok, these are the limited possiblities.

^^^ when you open the fuel cap, look at the collar on the fuel tank, there will be a hole the left side. Check to see if the hole is clear.
