No no no.. Everything is alright in your bike. Problem is you have been babysitting her( probably lugging) for the past 700km and the engine never went to higher Rpm. Manual says go till 5k rpm in all gears till 500km and till 7.5k rpm in all gears till 1000km. So, since you didnt do that you are getting vibes now as its not used to higher rpm.

Fix: Shift all gears above 5k RPM atleast from now and go till 7k in 3rd 4th and 5th gear ( no sudden acceleration... Just climb the revs slowly) and use engine braking as much as you can. I guess you are holding the clutch when you release the throttle to brake.

Ps: R15 engine is made for higher RPM's... So please dont lug it in lower RPM's. When i try to ride sanely, it will literally beg to take her to higher Rpm's

How do you expect a 2 months old bike to perform? Its a new baby and you will end up noticing some annoying things in initial stage. This not at all an issue, engine and all transmission parts yet to open up freely. If engine harshness continue to deteriorate further, let the SVC people to look into it & do remember to free the gear operation too. the bike is almost very close to first service. So no prob

        Hehe, thanks for the reply
Yeah i do hold clutch while braking on oncoming bumps(Car habit) but not frequently....
Will start revving it freely now

Thank you mate. And the bike has already done first service, will get it checked out on second service..
But i guess the reason is that i was babying her..so from now on will revv it to higher rpms and as sid said it should probably fix this issue

Its very wrong Method. Even i used to ride like that ( in discover ) . Do not hold clutch while releasing the throttle and braking.. Just downshift at right RPM and continue to brake.. Practice this method and it will really help you in panic situations. If you hold the clutch and brake in panic, sureshot you are gonna lock the rear wheel.
So change your habit by practicing.

PS: And i hope you got my previous post.. Do not rev her crazily (accelerate hard or suddenly) just take her slowly to 7k rpm and then shift!! Thats the point and downshift when tacho falls below 5k RPM.

            Ride safe!!

Hi. I currently have an FZ and I'm going to buy the r15 as soon as the 2014 models hit the showrooms. Now, the problem is that i'm a typical babysitter of my bikes. Although, I don't hold the clutch when i release the throttle but i generally don't rev my bike too hard.

I usually upshift between 3-4k rpm. I know that r15 is a rev happy bike but would that also mean that if i don't rev it till 5-6k for upshifting, i may have problems with the bike in future because of babysitting it too much?

I know i'd be under utilizing the bike's capacity but just wanted to make sure if the bike will suit my riding style. It may also happen that this bike changes my riding style (maybe i've never owned a rev happy machine ever hence don't like revving hard).

                Any inputs are much appreciated.

R15 will lug at 3-4k rpm in higher gears (4,5 and 6th). So, if you are going to ride like that you'll mess your run-in and if you continue the same, it will affect the engine. Actually lugging the engine is worse than revving hard. So you got to change your riding style when you buy R15 or else choose a cruiser or RE which will match your riding style.
                    Hope this helps

I haven't already messed up my engine right? Haha..
Started revving the engine till 6-7k from today..

Dude, 3-4k rpm in an R15 means its time to downshift, not upshift. The engine will lug and probably stall if you upshift at 3-4k rpm in high gears. R15 is a very rev happy engine, it can easily do 8K+ rpm all day. But you can also pot around the city at 5-6k rpm if you want to save gas(this is what I do when I commute). But the bike truly doesn't show itself until you cross 7k rpm. You will get used to it when you get the bike, you simply cannot ride the R15 at such low rpms. Instead of making the bike to suit your riding style, change your riding style to suit the bike, you will get better results with that.
As far as run in concerned, this is what I did
upto 500kms - below 6k rpm (with occassional bursts to 7k)
500-1000kms - below 7k rpm (with occasional bursts to 8k)
Its done close 7.5k kms and I havent got any problems and the bike performs quite good.

You can use thick layer of correction whitener over it, and then polish it with wax. It wont make it completely invisible, but surely do the trick.
