Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Yeah weather do play in an important role. Be it riding or engine power delivery. So the oil will also act differently. But my motto is go with that oil which you feel your bike is better reacting to.Originally posted by siddharthsure View PostBro, You active after a long long time..... Good to see you here
Btw, i still prefer 300V over SS ( Not tried Shell yet ). But Motul SS just gave up after 1500Km in super hot Chennai Traffic :/ Just my opinion
I have done around 28k kms in the last 19 months honeymoon period with my bike and still running on Yamalube (except for 5K kms which was run on Shell Advanced Ultra FS), which is a SS. I have ridden mostly in and around B'lore and Pune and had faced no problem due to SS.
Have used Shell FS, Advanced Ultra. Below are my observations:Originally posted by Yashas Rl View PostIt is perception what makes us feel what oil makes our engine smooth and so on.
I felt this is good for the range at which I revv and am happy with this!
Will check out details about FS oils by Shell
1. Slight but visible upgradation of power.
2. Downshifting/upshifting became smoother.
3. Drain interval of min. 5K kms.
I checked bro. Yamalube is no more manufactured by Motul but by a company, I don't remember the name, located in Gujarat. But it complies with all the Yamaha specsOriginally posted by saquib3005 View PostYamalube is also a make by Motul, all contents are same.
Yes. Got a very clear idea and thanks to both of them. So I am now worry free to take my bike there and already smiling, read grinning, with the imaginary landscapes.Originally posted by saquib3005 View Post@ArnabC i guess @siddharthsure
gave apt answe to your queries, I could have not done that much justice. And moreover adding to the last query of hill ride , R15 does reads the oxygen ratio at higher altitudes(specially talking about Ladakh), but ECU maps with O2 censors efficiently there. Better to change engine oil and run for 500kms before starting your ascend. And yes you will face frequent power loss, but that will be slightly observable, as amount of hard rev will go bit down and accelaration rate too, this is because after staying for long time at higher altitude in compressed oxygen, AFR ratio will get bit used to lesser oxygen level and so ignition will be not as good as in plains and so loss lower revs and lower power jumps.
No bro. Yamalube is no more Motul 5100.Originally posted by Akash_Kiran _ Balram View PostSS Yamalube is actually just Motul 5100 that's been slightly altered as per Yamaha's demands. So it's surely the change in oil that's made your ride better.

Hmmm. Measuring the comments and checking whether they're worth replying to??Originally posted by Ron Syl View Posti used to keep a tab on whats going on here sometimes, didnt post much thats all. was kind of bored of few stuffs
saw this particular discussion so posted.
and the new V2 comes with O2 sensors AFAIK . safe to say 2014 r15v2.
Just kiddin'
No bro, I got pakka news, 2014 model still now doesn't come fitted with O2 sensor.
Bro you're comparing the middle class Indian with Mukesh Ambani. That's not fair.Originally posted by Yashas Rl View PostKnew they that but found difference riding engine with Yamalube SS and 300v of Motul so happy with it
300V is the best FS available and Yamalube is just a very good SS.
When is your next plan to ride to Pune in the 2014 model?Originally posted by saquib3005 View PostSources????
It doesnt comes, no technical changes, and you know why I am telling

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Its definitely do ron. Thanks a tad man. Will look into it very helpful. never knew it was that big of a deal. I used to do a warmup of 20 sec or so. Thought that would suffice.Originally posted by Ron Syl View PostWarm-up. keep this word in your mind whenever you are starting the engine after 3 hrs of bike being off. a good warm-up will not only give smooth revvs and less vibs but also gives better FE. warm-up in idle for about 40secs atleast and ride sanely for abt 2 to 3 kms. ride like you are in runnin-in mode. see the difference after that. the moment you ripp from the beginning, no matter for how ling you ride the engine wont respond properly.
so warmup the engine next time. and everytime if you are starting it after 3hrs or more. you can even smoothly revv a bit till 4k rpm when warming up.
1st service does not mean you can ripp the bike and 'glory' stuffs. ride sanely till 1k kms, even if you have finished 2 services ( i had done 2 services before i reached 1k kms, but had not ripped). services are just a periodic maintenance things and does not mean the engine is ready to be ridden hard.
You will have pain in wrists and palms in the beginning. no worries on that. neither sit close to tank or too far from tank. keep your hands a little bent, downwards, and also keep your elbows parallel to each other and not to face them outside. so basically if you see yourself from top view, the hands will look straight but from side it ll look little bent. keep your back relaxed, dont make it straight, this will put lot of pressure on your lower back and will prove bad for the lower back later. keep it a little bent forward. lean. ride the bike the way its meant to be ridden, you wont face issues after a while. the bike wont adjust to you, but you will have to get yourself adjusted to the way the bike needs you to.
hope this helps

FS does not guarantee a smooth ride if you dont follow certain things. and switching at 4.5k is too early. SS oil is just enough for r15. (also depends what grade you use). if using FS oil get smoothness for bikes then all would have used that.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
aside from the more usual and obvious reasons for low mileage (low tyre pressure, low quality fuel, dry chain etc), what are some of the more subtle and less obvious reasons (that are perhaps more internal to the bike than relatively external factors tyre pressure, fuel quality, etc) that can lead to a really low mileage ? i realise less obvious reasons for low mileage have probably been talked about in the thread in the past, but perhaps someone who really knows about all this can write on it again.
it seems i am getting a really really low mileage these days. as low as about 28 kmpl or 31 kmpl the last two times if i am to trust the reserve. i don't know what's the matter, either the "reserve" F has become totally random and comes on sometimes way too earlier (which is not likely, as it's electronically measured), as early as when the fuel in the tank is over 4 or 4.5 litres, or the tank is not really of 12 litres volume which is again obviously not likely. so something is really screwed up inside my bike. a mileage of 30 plus/minus 1 or 2 is really low for a bike that used to give 37/38 usually (at times earlier too it gave about 33 or 35 or so), such a low number can't be coming out if everything inside is normal.
had a pretty great morning ride today with some satisfying and fairly kickass cornerings. long time after i went for a morning ride and thus after a long time i had the opportunity to attempt harder/faster cornerings thanks to the emptiness of the roads in the dawn time. absolutely love it when the bike moves a bit under me while cornering. it's amazing feeling to have the bike wobble or rear-slide a bit when leaned over and yet how the lines are so solid and stable and everything feels naturally under rider control.
but then unexpectedly early reserve mark has dampened the mood a little and has me worried.Last edited by aditya_YZF-R15; 05-31-2014, 07:59 AM.
