Ha ha.. You can surely call me that!

I'm using Power currently. Had filled in Speed once.

Can anyone tell me the difference between both?

But the main point is missed ! THE STATION ! The bunk facility where you fill in your fuel is the main factor, or sometimes the culprit, when it comes to fuel quality. A lot of things affects the fuel quality, and the bunk facility takes the biggest factor of it.

-Fuel storage tank. The temperature at which it is maintained. Hotter temperatures in the storage tank may result in lower density and expansion.
    -The fuel density maintained.
-Tampering of the pump and readings, which may very well be possible in India.
    -Adulteration.

So the next time you want to fill up the fuel, make sure the facility is in its best shape.

As for the fuel itself. Of the 2 lakhs KM of driving and riding, i have noticed that Bharat petroleum has been returning better mileage and engine response. I have particularly been using speed for the last two year, and i am happy with it. Had a bad experience with SHELL. Like i said, its mostly the facility. Maybe the one i tried was bad afterall. Worst is HP. Worst fuel on earth, whatever facility it maybe.

For note to others in and around Tnagar, Chennai- Have been filling fuel for all my cars and bikes only in EKAYARS BUNK in VN road. Best bunk in the city. Their density is never less than 999. All the supercars and superbikes of Chennai fill in there only.
Very true! Even many people have observed this! Worse the station, worse the mileage is what I've been hearing!
Money can get a 1942 BSA these days, but even Warren Buffet's whole Bank account can't get us our leg back!

        I'm a lil tensed.
Filled Shell xtrapremium. 6.35li for 500 bucks. Got 1li of normal petrol from the dealer. Total 7.35 at delivery.
Now the reserve is at 1.9 so by the time 'F' shows up 5.45li exact will have been consumed.
At 180, the level of fuel came down to the last bar. The odo is at 196.4 now.
Any calculated guess as to how much more will it run?

Going by pure math...63.6kms more to the last drop of petrol..
          Assumptions -
          1. Each of the 6 blocks represent equal qty of fuel (2 ltrs each)
          2. Mileage is ~ 40kmpl

I hope the above is only for calculation purposes and your not actually planinng to test the range..

How do you measure the FE in V2.0? What is the correct method of doing this?

turn on one of the trip meters as soon as the last bar stars flashing(on reserve)...
Then fill petrol of 5Litres or more in absolute values 5L or 6L or 10 L and not 5.11L or 6.xx...
Then check the trip meter when it flashes again... Divide the tripmeter value by the quantity of petrol you put...
This method proves to be accurate to some extent...

What petrol grade and brand are you using?

                  • I guess this will work if we can find a petrol pump soon enough - so that the distance travelled after the reserve indication is minimum...

The only issue with this approach is that we have to wait till the fuel comes to reserve - in other words running the bike on nearly empty tank.

I noticed that there is another set of small 000 next to the trip reading. Any idea what that is for?

no u wont need the fuel station to be nearby at all.. By this method you can fill the tank even after travelling 50 kms...

                        Sample example for ur understanding..

consider a bike with tank capacity 10 Lit and reserve point @ 4Lit.
now the guy encounters reserve and sets his trip meter to 0000.
The guy travels 150 kms (in reserve) and fills 5 Lits of petrol...
Now the fuel must be above reserve point and after travlelling 1oo kms he hits reserve again... Now the odometer value is 250.

So his mileage is 250 /5=50kms/lit.

Which proves that even after hitting reserve he drove for 150 kms by setting the trip meter which could have drunk 3 lit of petrol.

So the amount of fuel in his tank would be 1 lit and he fills 5 lit and the total fuel in tank would become 1+5=6lit.
After travelling 100 kms which would have consumed 2 lit of petrols hits reserve again @ 4 lit...

As a conclusion, to calculate mileage by this method is more appropriate.

                            Sure does. Will try.

But the question still remains, what petrol grade and brand to use. Anyone?

I am using normal unleaded petrol from IOC (mine is only a week old and has run 450 kms).
