Well thanks a lotOriginally posted by shreyassave View PostEven I'm thinking about the same! Lets see..
No sorry bud! Its just that editing previous posts avoid a lot of misunderstandings here!
Wow got a call from my dealer today he says the bike will be handed over to me in 15 days maximum. I m so excited but the problem is that i m not in Mumbai to make the rest of payment & complete the loan formalities. Asked him if something could be done so he told i will get the bike 15 days after i complete all the loan & other formalities. Having a bit of financial crisis for the remaining down payment cuz i gave the money to someone else as he needed it. Says will return it in a month. I m totally screwd. Damn.

Hey guys ..
The journey started 2 months back .. when i saw the ktm and took a test ride of he same... i was riding a bike after almost 3 years .. and feeling was like being back home ...
.. And soon started the search for one .. read a lot of reviews of the duke , CBR , Karizma and the R15 .
I always had this thing for the R15 since it was launched in 2008 .. its was sad that i cudnt get my hands on it then as i had bought the P200 just 5 months before the r15 was launched in june 2008... I always knew its was one heck of a piece of machinery.. on the other hand i also thought the bike would stand a bit small in front of me as i am 5'11" the r15 v1 was kind of low in stance.. but now after looking at v2 all those thoughts disapperead out .. the bike looks awesome ..and put all the other bikes on the side step.. i still like the duke 200 but after hearing the reviews on the bike getting a lot heated up
.. wanted it to give it some more time on the indian roads...
So on my way back home headed of to the yamaha dealer and booked a r15 .. blue / black .. like both the colors .. The waiting period is almost arnd 60 days.. but the sales guy has told if possible he will try to give it a bit early .. Lets see.. Already my hands are itching to grab the handle ,, twist my wrist .. ggggggoooooooo !!!!!!!!!! will be reading all the treads on how to stay calm on the waiting period ....
Just a small question regarding the bike
i Noticed a small vertical coming out of the side stand .. was just wondering if the same gets in the way while changing the gears .. cause she i was on the bike could feel that .. It may also be because of me wearing a formal shoe ??
Also have met a lot of people advising me act the back pain .. Infact had a yamaha dealer telling me the same as a drawback .. Just need to know how true is it ?? people owning one ar u facing any back ache or something in longer runs ??Last edited by nughty_guy77; 03-27-2012, 12:10 AM.2003 - Kawasaki Bajaj Caliber 115

Yamaha YZF R15 version 2.0 50th Anniversary Limited Edition
Got my babe on the holy day of Gudi Padwa/ Ugaadi.
The gears a lil hard. Especially the 4th->3rd downshift. Maybe I'm downshifting too early.
The acceleration gives a hard jerk on shifting gears and releasing the cluth.
On closer inspection found out that the clutch lever on releasing settles back only to 99% of its free position. What can be done?
Using Shell premium. 1li normal petrol (free from the dealer) + 6.35li premium petrol (Rs 500 exact, meaing 78 bucks a litre. Wtf?
).
Bike has done 150km.
Topspeed - 75kmph
Highest rpm - 5k
Bike is heating up bigtime. Right leg roasted.
Everything else is working fine.
Juz the cluth lever aint too smooth.
Cross-checked with 2 brand new R15s at the showroom - the cluth lever settled back 100% that too with a bang. Checked with the TD bike and realised it was hell smooth - maybe out of regular use.
Any suggestions?
Worried and apprehensive to ride my babe.Last edited by ABikerAtHeart; 03-27-2012, 12:54 AM.__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _______

Heating is normal at the start specially in summer as well..
for gears, spray a little wd40/oil around the gear lever and runin bike in all the gears
these will all ease out.. oil the clutch lever or use wd40... its just that the guys have not oiled your bikeM3:15

Congrats on the acquisition buddy...Waiting Time will go away buddy..Just try to invest your time in reading through ownership thread specially V1..This way you will know your bike before even getting her..Originally posted by nughty_guy77 View PostHey guys ..

As for back pain, it is only during first 1000kms..I am 5ft 10 in..My back pain went away and I got used to V2's seating position in less than 1000kms of riding..Just make sure you have continuous longer rides as my running-in ride included 600 km trip so 300km continuous and hence after that ride, no back pain...
Hope you get your delivery way before...

The extension you are talking of actually helps you locate and put on the side stand easily...Does not come in the way of gear shiftsOriginally posted by nughty_guy77 View Posti Noticed a small vertical coming out of the side stand .. was just wondering if the same gets in the way while changing the gears
If you run back thru a few pages, you will see a lot of medium to long ride reports...I am myself 5'11", have not experienced even the slightest of back pain over the last 500 kms..Originally posted by nughty_guy77 View PostAlso have met a lot of people advising me act the back pain .. The handlebars are a lil painful. There are marks on my palm. I know I know, I'm holding em all wrong.
Working on my position.
Handsfree is such an effortless act. Love the way this back stays stable.
Same for a stoppie.
Haven't really clicked alot of pics. Waiting for my photographer friends to come to town for the same.
Getting used to the 6 gears, from my usual 4. And the front brake as the rear lock twice. Suspension is stiff.
I guess the solution to the
cluth lever
gear lever
suspension
is oiling. Will have to get it oiled,as how a senior member here pointed out.
Wonder if the 99% lever resettling will burn the clutch plate (hope its only a silly thought)...

Update
The journey with my new bike started 3 months ago and still going on smoothly. I am pushing her 125+ and no complains yet. Excellent handling and mileage.
The only bad thing happened is that somebody tried to peel off the Yamaha Logo from the tank. This has left a few scratches on the tank

As others said, the vertical coming out of the stand doesn't get in the way by any means while changing gears!
The back & wrist pain was not an issue for me!
May be due to the excitement.
I'm 6' still no back pain.
I'm 85, so you can imagine how much pressure I must be putting on my wrists, still no wrist pain! It only comes during a bad patch of road.
Congratulations Buddy, and welcome to the club.Originally posted by ABikerAtHeart View PostGot my babe on the holy day of Gudi Padwa/ Ugaadi.

Its a point even I'm worried! These stupid guys try to peel that logo and stick on the rear of their mobile phones, and on cycles!

That buggers don't know it the small ones come for Rs. 12 (R15) & 15.(FZ)
The big ones come for Rs. 35 & 50 I guess!Money can get a 1942 BSA these days, but even Warren Buffet's whole Bank account can't get us our leg back!
