  • It's my third day today with my R15, have munched ~ 100 kms. Had something unusual today morning:

I switched on the ignition. After the initial tests, I hit the starter button, all I got was a click sound. Tried again, same.

Switched off the ignition and turned it on again. After the initial tests, tested headlights and indicators, all good. Hit the horn, it was as loud as ever. Hit the starter button, again all I got was a click sound.

Turned off the engine kill switch, put it back on and hit the starter. The engine came to life instantly. Any idea on why this could have happened?
(I always keep the engine kill switch on)

        • Did you change gears in between the whole process ? I had faced this when I tried to start the engine in gear without engaging the clutch. I had to get it to neutral, switch off and start again to put it to life.

          • What's the best seating position? I read almost all the pages on this thread so I know that elbows should be slightly bent. But the real problem is the pain in my ankles(is it because I'm tall?) I'm not sure whether to rest my heels on the footpegs(when I do this I dont fit the tank recesses properly..) or should I keep feet somewhere near the middle? This is turning into quite a problem so guys any advise is welcome..

thanks dude... and what about the "ghee" sound ?
That "ghee" sound is of the Fuel pump!

If you turn the key "On" with the Engine switch ON, you'll get that sound during the self check!

If you turn the Engine switch ON after the self check, you wont get that sound!

Harish told me that a small amount of fuel is being sent to the FI! It wont give us trouble during Cold starts! Thats what I heard! Hope this helped!

                        • Run-In complete!

The Run-in breakfast (0- 500 kms) was very light! Never took her beyond 4.5-5 K!
Had changed the Oil and Oil filter at 300!
The Run-in lunch (500- 680) kms was smooth as well. Just a couple of times took her to 6.5 K!

Servicing at 680 kms, and still till 900 kms, took her to 7 K.

What a way to complete the Run-in!
                          The Run-in dinner was fabulous.
Went on a 309 kms roundtrip. Long straights, tall mountains, hairpins and what not!
Took her a couple of times to 7.5 K after 900, taking break after 45- 50 mins of riding.

She sings after 5.5 K RPM! The exhaust note changes and you can feel it. That feeling is beautiful. Took her to a max of 104 Km/h.

Planning to gradually increase the RPMs.

1 thing that I observed is the bike took a lot of load while climbing.

Steadily on 1st at 5.5- 6.5 K RPM, and if I shifted up, it used to take a lot of load.

I had another R15 V1 ahead of me, that was gliding in the twisties, making me jealous!

I did keep my patience, didn't rip her as I could feel the load on the engine!

Any suggestions, what might be the reason?
                          I'm worried!

Go for fiery red... It looks awesome in real and will not need sticker jobs as there are flames that are neatly designed...
I too taught of buying racing blue, but after seeing fiery red at show room I changed the color...
Stickering in a brand new bike is not a cool idea..
May be it can be done after some days when some scratches have occured...
