  • Taking my bike bak Home

Hi ,i am planning to take my R15v2 from Chennai to Thrissur,Kerala ;as i have completed my study-course here. not yet really experienced for a Long-drive yet,so thought of some other means :
i have heard from friends taking via Train is ok
others suggest transporting it by truck/parcel-services
or by a Long-trip bus and u too travel along

i still could not decide the best and SAFEST way to get it home
    (as its a full-fairing bike )

if any one who has an experience similar please do suggest
or share the procedures : precautions and other arrangements to transport the Bike safely . . .

I was gonna go for Rynox but thought of it as a waste as this works perfect. Mind you it was pouring heavily and not even one single drop went inside, they have provided a rain cover too, bright yellow for visibility.

EDIT isn the 7100 the one which is costing Rs470?? if its that one then iam using it currently in my bike and its good.
I also own a cramster tank bag, but with the amount of luggage i had, saddle bag seemed more apt. I haven't tried tying the tank bag on rearend as of now, but would give a shot during any short rides for sure. Have used it extensively on P180 and was a bliss but doesn't fit so well on r15.

nope, you are using motul 5100 semi-synthetic, its good. but for high rip long touring, my experience has been better with full synths. They last through out the trip.

Its way above, no issues at all. Only problem I faced was that I had to let go of making passes between pretty small gapes as was not able to judge that saddle bags would/wouldn't prove to be a blocker.

        • This is something new! :O I tried a lot to fit the colt. Though it fit perfectly well it did rest/rub against the silencer . If possible in your next trip attach a pic, just to know how you have done it! Thanks for the information!

4 loops of the bungee correct.
2 on each side. Iam uploading a pic of one side, refer the same on the other side.

            2hooks on right -

1st hook on the saree guard
2nd hook on the green marker posted in pic above, repeat the same on the other side. They have given slots where you can insert those hooks.

Trust me it doesnt slide, you only need to put a big cloth so that it does not scratch the rear panels.

EDIT - Richie - iam so sorry bud i have no answers to your question. Guys any one can help this young lad here?

            • @Eshan:It does not slide off..it just rests on silencer because of which it may get burnt in long run! May be the bag i used was more longer? :S

No dude, it is not resting on silencer here. Iam attaching two more pics. One with the actual insert slot and second with the gap between the slots.

Give me this weekend, i will come up with closed snaps if you want.

Just compare both the snaps, i have drawn three lines to show you the difference between those hooks and silencer. You do not need to do anything with or near the silencer.

And no it doesnt slide off, even at speeds 125kmph, it doesnt. Works even when you are cornering.

                      • Guys my cousin is planning to buy a bike and is confused between KarizmaR (don't like ZMR looks) and Yamaha R15.

No his argument is that Karizma is more powerful thanR15 has it has better torque 18.35NM @ 6000RPM while R15 torque is 15NM @ 7500 RPM. This instantly means Karizma has better pickup than R15. He also says that both bikes have same power i.e. 17PS. Here I tell him that R15's peak power is at 8500RPM while Karizma delivers the same power at 7000RPM thuis R15 is revv friendly and powerful than Karizma.

Please tell what is the basis of saying one biek is more powerful than other?

Is Karizma Powerful than R15 or vice versa?

I suppose 'What Bike' is a better thread to discuss the above.
Here no one would tell you to go for Karizma.

                            hi Richie,

I am in a transferable job so everytime I have to change place and take my vehicle there.
Doing it through train is not advisable, they can leave scratch on your tank or broken indicator or fairing. The last I moved my bike was through train, it was a new P180 and my tank got dent which was never corrected until i sold it. (note: i packed my bike very nicely before giving it to train.)

The best solution: book it with any of the transportation agencies. "packer and movers" being the one. They move your vehicle very nicely. No scratches at all.

And one more advantage: they deliver your bike to your address and also pick it from your provided address.
                            They are reliable.

Also you can look for any other agency, that transport goods

                                Hi Guys,

Anyone has yet tried up doing a foundation build on his r15, i mean tightening the bike up.
I'll like to know extra tools i'll require barring the one provided and major nuts and bolts to focus on.

Also, can anyone can provide review on using Motul 7100 as compared to 300v for the bike.
                                Ride On,
