This bike is a Brilliant machine. There were two things I was worried about before this ride. One was the riding posture and the other was the seat. I though I would have a stiff back and a sore butt at end of this 500 kms ride. But none of these happened! Experienced the much talked about handling of this bike! Braking is also very good. And flick ability is awesome! Being a small bike it has the advantage I guess.

Straight line stability is good and on the corners I needn't say more! On my 220 I will need to shed some speed before going over a corner but on this I could just dive into the corner at any speed!

Since the bike is light had issues when I hit the 'surprise potholes' on high speeds. My 220 was more stable at those conditions ( I am not comparing these two bikes, just that 220 is the only bike I have extensively ridden ) And another thing I missed is 220's torque. Felt over takings were tough on the R15 . Had to cut down a gear or two in some instances. But can get adjusted with this kind of riding.

And yeah this bike has a highly optimistic speedo

Posting it here to share my experience with this bike You all have got an awesome machine
very good to see this good to hear you had good time on the R15. u were spot-on on the overtaking thing there, obviously because the P220 has more power, even i experience that, i go one gear down to take a quick overtake if its needed. in the city you will not feel the difference, but on the highway you will. no comments on the speedo :P lol

Holy Mother of tyres and bikes!!! These tyres are more sensitive than Formula 1's Pirelli..

I myself do a lot of high speed (its a Pulsar 150) sprints on tube type tyres. Haven't noticed anything except drop in mileage because of additional drag. No uneven wear in the past 6200 kms. I prefer a little bit low pressure in rains to add to the traction and grip. I can sacrifice mileage and tyres to get added grip on wet surfaces. (Personal choice)

Hey bro..every word you've typed is true!...I too miss the torque and the raw pulsating power of my Apache 180...but overall I'm more happy with the R15 coz this bike offers something completely different than what the other bikes I've rode so far...the bike revs up effortlessly and the operation is butter-smooth!...its everything I need in a bike!

            • Something extremely unexpected happened yesterday while I was going to office at night. My bike (R15) started behaving strange. Here. I have posted a complaint with Yamaha. Read it here:

My name is Raneet Mallick and I am a employee at a reputed company where my office responsibilities need me to work at night shifts. I reside in Kolkata and I own an R15 v 2.0 White Limited Edition which is not even 2 months old and it reads 1700 kilometers on the odometer.

Yesterday when I was going for work in the middle of night, suddenly something happened on my bike and it started behaving strange. I stopped my bike and noticed that the chain was hanging from the bike. I tried to check if the chain broke but it was fine. I then parked the bike properly and with the necessary tools that I had I opened the left cover under which is the front sprocket of the bike. Now to my surprise I found that there was no sprocket there.

Now my question is, is this the reliability that is expected out of Yamaha? Purchasing a motorbike costing more than 1.2 lacs and then get stuck in the middle of the city because the front sprocket just fell off? I had to go through a lot of harassment that night. Had to park the bike at a friend's office so that I can go the next day with a mechanic and get it fixed then ride it back home. Also, I could not go to office that night. So what are we dealing with here? Improper Pre-delivery checks? Improper servicing? Or bad quality from the company?

All details regarding my bike will be provided to you subsequently but I want an immediate resolution and a compensation for the same.

I want a quick response else I will be more than glad to escalate this issue further.

It is the FI check sound you are hearing. If you have the engine kill switch in the ON position, while turning ON the ignition, you will hear this sound for a time duration equal to the time taken by the tachometer needle to swipe from 0RPM to 12RPM, and come back, and it is normal. If you have the engine kill switch in the OFF position, while turning on the ignition, then you won't hear that sound.

Are you sure it fell off?

Check for damage marks. Wear at the screw or nut threads. If no is the answer then its the SVC to blame.
