The puzzle is how the heck did both the retainer bolts give away at the same time.

If what you say is true, then you were extremely lucky that the sprocket just fell off cleanly. If it had not come off cleanly, entangling the chain, it could have caused the rear wheel to lock. And that at any speed would have been ugly. Any incident where you can walk away from is a good incident. More than the inconvenience that it caused you, you should be more concerned about the potential it had to cause serious injuries to you. And that is what you should have emphasized in your correspondence with Yamaha.Originally posted by Raneet View Post

Unbelievable!!!Originally posted by Raneet View PostSomething extremely unexpected happened yesterday while I was going to office at night. My bike (R15) started behaving strange. Here. I have posted a complaint with Yamaha. Read it here:
My name is Raneet Mallick and I am a employee at a reputed company where my office responsibilities need me to work at night shifts. I reside in Kolkata and I own an R15 v 2.0 White Limited Edition which is not even 2 months old and it reads 1700 kilometers on the odometer.
Yesterday when I was going for work in the middle of night, suddenly something happened on my bike and it started behaving strange. I stopped my bike and noticed that the chain was hanging from the bike. I tried to check if the chain broke but it was fine. I then parked the bike properly and with the necessary tools that I had I opened the left cover under which is the front sprocket of the bike. Now to my surprise I found that there was no sprocket there.
Now my question is, is this the reliability that is expected out of Yamaha? Purchasing a motorbike costing more than 1.2 lacs and then get stuck in the middle of the city because the front sprocket just fell off? I had to go through a lot of harassment that night. Had to park the bike at a friend's office so that I can go the next day with a mechanic and get it fixed then ride it back home. Also, I could not go to office that night. So what are we dealing with here? Improper Pre-delivery checks? Improper servicing? Or bad quality from the company?
All details regarding my bike will be provided to you subsequently but I want an immediate resolution and a compensation for the same.
I want a quick response else I will be more than glad to escalate this issue further.
Don't go easy on 'em and keep us posted as to what exactly went wrong with ur ride for the sprocket to 'FALL' off!

The FI check sound will not be there while riding. It should go off once the tachometer needle completes the swipe before the bike is started.. If you hear a similar sort of sound while riding (and also after the tachometer needle completes the swipe), then it should be the sound of the radiator fan. Radiator fan usually comes into operation while travelling at low speeds, and in traffic jams. If it remains in operation all the time while riding, even at high speeds, then there must be some problem with the cooling system. Check your coolant level, and if it is low, you'll have to top it up.Originally posted by discover View Postcool. thanks for the clarification.. but this sound remains even while riding.. is that fine ?.. the sound goes off only when the key is turned off

you are wrong here, Once the FI system check itself and you crank your engine, the FI sound is present continuously till you shut the engine . Thats the FI procedue in all FI bikes.Originally posted by Asellus Borealis View PostThe FI check sound will not be there while riding. Pilot lamps are mainly used as parking lamps (useful when your bike is on the corner of a road) or just in late evening before night to indicate your presence on road. LED pilot lamps provided by Yamaha are 5 times brighter than the stock ones and consume less wattage.Biking- A Pure BLISS !

you flip the rear seat open...hook the "fastened" helmet strap in the hook provided below the seat...lock it back in place!....thats 'ol, nothing more to itOriginally posted by jeffreydare View PostBeing riding this for over 2 weeks. Loving each ride!!!

Finally got a reason to goto office :P
Also, had a query, may seem silly
how to use the helmet hooks provided below the rear seat. Got a Studds helmet, but dunno how to secure it to the hooks provided.

Guys, has anyone of you here done valve clearance adjustment by themselves? If so, can they please enlighten me as to how to do it? My baby R is officially 2 months old as of today, and has covered 5400KM
, and the valves have started making noise, as the the clearance between the rocker arm and valve tip has increased.
