Please tell me how to lube the r15's chain and what I'll need. Should I go to SVC every time? (500kms interval)
You will need a center stand/ paddock stand, a chain cleaner, toothbrush some cotton wipes and chain lube. There are a lot of articles available freely on how to lube the chain, pls research.

Bad. Speedy recovery to you and your bike.
arVnd, Eshan - great pics
Iam aware of the procedure also performed it yest after the ride.
Iam only worried about the oil filter replacement on every servicing.
Thank you, it was one wet ride
sigpic
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
Cant agree more on this. Even the chain spray thingy is too much, One ride to office and i dont even see any lube over the chain.
For my DIY
Chain clean
Chain lube
Btw can any one shed light on changing of oil filter for every servicing?
If you are asking that whether one has to change the oil filter for every service ? - Then answer is "not needed". Only after run-in it has to be changed. Rest as per manual!
As quoted previously it is a easy job(DIY) . Lots of videos are there> but i would recommend to see the workshop manual of R15 (v1) and do it!

Both of you are not getting my point it seems.
I go again.
Is it mandatory to buy a new one in every servicing schedule?? the mech said har service mein badalneka hai isko...
So charges every servicing would definately be 455(oil)+167(filter)+Taxes around 750-800rs. So iam asking is it mandatory?

Yes it has to be done in every scheduled service as per the service manual. Not needed when you are servicing the bike in addition to your regular scheduled service.
My bike's back from the SVC... Been a week... Yeah, it took 45 days to get it back... Some city I live in...
Anyway, I'm glad to get the bike back..
The throttle response and everything else is perfectly fine... Had an issue with the forks being soft and the handlebar being tilted... Got that fixed on my 2nd round tothe SVC...
Happy with everything now..
Did a top speed of 111kmph yesterday.... ODO at 878km... *Peace*...
Very true that it should not be done immediately after you rode. I will do it in the morning before even i fire the engine up.
It is very simple 15min procedure. The allen keys help to remove the fibre parts but not the mock carbon fibre ones. Thats where I am stuck.
On friday went to YFS pune just to top-up and chain cleaning. The yammie guy quoted 400 Rs for the same. I know those are standard Yamaha rates, but its way too costly and does not justify the work involved.
Henceforth I have decided it to it as a DIY each and everytime.
You can open the coolant reservoir cap after a ride. Its not a problem, but dont open the radiator cap as it will blast the coolant out. For removing the carbon fibre like shield, remove both the seats first, and on the tail section there is a screw(rather a pin) type black thing that holds it with the tail. Press it in the centre with a sharp thing and it gets loosened and remove all the visible screws on the carbon fiber. Now you can find the reservoir. Fill it. Hardly a 15mins job.

Change oil filter in all services, thats what manual says.

Thanks a ton thats where I was stuck.
Yes I am aware that the coolant in reservoir can be topped up without any risk of the engine being hot.

Ivin, the last time the SVC guys topped up the coolant n front of me, they just opened the side CF like panel, used a funnel to fill in the coolant. Seats were not taken off.
Its been two month since i bought the bike. I have completed 950Kms on the odo. The bike is vibration free. The bike is going for 3rd servicing. Getting an average of around 37kmpl in city & highway mixed riding. Will be getting Motul Chain clean & lube tomorrow. I had cut the tyre hugger & the bottom part of the tail gets really dirty. Although i have ridden it to 80+kmph the mud doesn't splash on the shirt or back of the pillion. So its save. But still will get a new tyre hugger for the rains. Clocked 125kmph on the highway on my way to Vasai. I must say the bike is less vibration free on higher rpms. I have enough juice left to take it to higher speed but as i m still in run in so didnt take the risk.

2 months, 3rd service and only 950km? Dude you need a life.
I need a better life. 3 months, one service and 878kms.
my bike's problem still persists...
there is coolant overflow through the drainage pipe every morning...the engine is getting hotter than usual, just like the first 500KMs..and, the engine overheating light comes up occassionally once i ride through heavy traffic...once the the light comes up it goes off again right after a short ride/burst in free roads...
i did change the engine oil last week, the fan runs well as i can see and hear that..the coolant was topped-up...the coolant system was checked by the SVC guyz and they say it is working fine...
i am quite confused and frustrated a lot.
guyz, can you help me out...?
