Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
this is in cont to my previous post. i am still feeling miserable .Originally posted by keviv View PostHello Mates..
i have a one month old r15 v2 .
Odo reading 683 kms. Got the first service done at around 570 kms..
I opened the throttle for short bursts after the first service.. I am hearing some kinda weird noise from the engine.. its like as though the engine is struggling. this is apart from the change in engine note once near the 5000rpm mark...
I did not redline it in any gear . i just took it to around 7000rpm mark a few times after the 500 km mark.
also the chain makes quite some noise. and it can be clearly felt while driving. is all these a part of the break in process? or am i just breaking my head?
please do give your valuable inputs.
i know this is noobish but yeah
i started opening the throttle a bit. started taking her to 6000 rpm gradually.
there is this is very low volume grinding noise from near the chain while accelerating hard and it fades of once i leave the accelerator.
and also the engine kinda growls once it crosses 6000 rpm. i kinda left the throttle at that point and it was the same growling sound. being my first bike am literally sweating it out. when does the engine start to open up smoothly. and also at idling the when i keep my hand near exhaust the air flow from it is heavy as bullet. i thought bikes like r15 were supposed to have less noise
also suggest some good mechanic near velacherry / madipakkam who can give me suitable advice....
thanks

Its chain noise, adjust your chain and lube it, the sound will reduce. But I don't think you can make the chain not making any noises at all.Originally posted by keviv View Posti started opening the throttle a bit. started taking her to 6000 rpm gradually.

Once you cross 7k rpm the engine really growls and I absolutely love it. Past 7k rpm there's also a sudden urgency from the engine too, it's all part of the engine's character and there's nothing to worry. Enjoy the big bike sound
Why do you wanna stick your hand at the end of the exhaust pipe at the first place ? If you place your hand near the tip of the exhaust of any bike, the sound will change and it may sound like what you've described.
Stop worrying and enjoy riding her

Oh brother, you worry too much, your bike is fine, it has thousands of moving parts which will make noise, deal with it. As I said before, the most you can do is clean and lube the chain every 500-700 Kms, It will result in smooth drive, a slight increase in mileage and the engine will be able to put most of the power on road rather than overcoming chain friction.
For the engine sound, yes it changes after 5k rpms and becomes an angry grunt, trust me, its nothing to worry about, all our bikes do that.
for the query regarding the air from the exhaust, yes it is very heavy, just like bullet but thousand times more refined, and it is a sign of a powerful and healthy engine, again nothing to worry about at all.
Finally my friend, just relax, your bike is perfectly fine and everything is normal. Enjoy your ride. Feel free to ask any more questions, we're here to help.
Ride safe.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
There goes my babe 'Fiona'!!
5 months old and clocked 4155 on ODO.
Did a proper run-in, engine oil & oil filter changing as per the manual and as soon as the first service was done I took her on our usual weekend escapades, opened the throttle and managed 126 km/h.
Wasn't going beyond that. Guess will have to rip her in proper way with little pamperings. Strange thing is I had cruised my friend's 200NS on the same road and climate and did 127 km/h.
Gonna do some mods past 5K or something. Some decals, transparent brake fluid tubes, brake-clutch levers, smoked rear tail-light, short tire hugger.
Any suggestions guys?!
And one more thing, to all the 50th Anniversary MotoGP LE owners. You guys are lucky, I envy you.

^^You'll need to change those two panels and looks like you headlight is scratched possibly that can be repaired, only the lugs that hold it to the frame may have been damaged, which means you may need to change your headlights.Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

Head lights are fine.. I am going to replace the headlight cowling because it is broken. I was thinking of painting the side panels and get away with it.. Any idea how much the side panels cost? Both left and right.. I don't want to spend much on this, I am in plan to install race dynamics ECUOriginally posted by stefanm View Post^^You'll need to change those two panels and looks like you headlight is scratched possibly that can be repaired, only the lugs that hold it to the frame may have been damaged, which means you may need to change your headlights.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
^^ I think one side is around 600 and the other 700 or so, headlight cowel was a little less if I recall correctly, the bike doesn't come with a paint code, so difficult to get the correct match, it's easier just to change the damaged panels.Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!

I will take the bike to ASC tomorrow, will get mechanic's opinion and decide on replacing them, thanksOriginally posted by stefanm View Post^^ I think one side is around 600 and the other 700 or so, headlight cowel was a little less if I recall correctly, the bike doesn't come with a paint code, so difficult to get the correct match, it's easier just to change the damaged panels.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
Hi friends, one year back I posted that, my new R15 was stolen on the second day after taking delivery, from a CCP home.
After one year, the police found the bike. And it turned out that someone from the showroom, has made a duplicate key, got my address from the book, followed me after delivery to locate my home and parking, and stolen it.
I am very much disappointed with Yamaha. We invest our trust, money and dream, in believing them, and then they itself stealing the bike. If they need money, they could ask for donations.
I won't buy anything from yamaha hereafter.

Holy crap!! This is real sad. Good thing is, you got your bike back. Hope the bike is in good condition and no damage.Originally posted by ibi View PostHi friends, one year back I posted that, my new R15 was stolen on the second day after taking delivery, from a CCP home.

IMO, the fault is with the employee and not Yamaha. The person who did this didn't care about the reputation of company he works for. I suggest that, shoot a mail to Yamaha and let them know about such a thing happening.
Cheerz!!The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!
Headlight can be replaced, Head cannot be. Wear a helmet.

Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0
@ibi dude it's good to know you got your bike after one long year but it's utterly immature and idiotic to put the blame on yamaha LOL...."they" (yamaha) didnt steal your bike...one of their employees did...if yamaha was in the business of stealing sold yamaha bikes i dont think any of us would have our bikes with us...and it's not even that what happened with you happens a lot with people everywhere, it was such an exceptional case...when a thief (who let's assume also has a job) steals or robs you or your home do you hastily put the blame on the thief's employer (or even his parents) and decide to never buy things off that employing company/shop ?
sorry if my post offends you but this needed to be said although being a grown up adult yourself you should already know the difference between sensible and insensible things to say/do no matter you emotionally attached you might be to something that was stolen :-)Last edited by aditya_YZF-R15; 09-10-2014, 08:07 PM.
