  • Re: Yamaha YZF-R15 version 2.0

The manual mentions to do it at every service, hence the question.
I though believe the mechanics would end up messing the engine.

    • Yamaha R15 v2 doesn't power on since today morning

My bike, R15 v2 bought on 13th Aug 2014, wont start since today morning. Yesterday I rode it around 25kms & had to use the engine kill switch once at a Shell Petrol bunk. I had forgotten the fact that Engine Kill switch was on and started the bike after filling the fuel. It took me 5 mins or so to realize that Engine Kill switch is on since I aint used to Engine Kill switch. After that I rode for another 7kms or so and parked the bike at my house. But today morning the bike didnt even start. When I turned the key to 'ON' position the indicator & warning lights should glow but it didnt. Neither did the Tachometer go for a full sweep. As per the suggestion of a friend of mine I put the bike in 1st gear and pushed it for a while but no go. Can any R15 v2 owner please help me if they have faced the similar situation?

        Approved and merged!

Most probably the battery got weak while you kept cranking with the engine kill switch engaged. It was just enough to crank once after which you rode back home. Did you ride back in bumper to bumper traffic or sorts? Where you couldn't open the throttle much? Maybe the battery didn't get enough juice to charge in those 7 kms.
Regarding your friend's advice on push start, attempt the same not in 1st gear, but 3rd. Reach speeds up to 20-25 kmph and then release the clutch.

Bike cranked with engine kill switch "on"?? It shouldn't have. Battery needs to be charged. Jump start as mentioned above by DS and things should be fine.

          Cheerz!!

Battery has drained out. Push start the bike at second gear and keep the bike idealing for sometime with engine running in neutral.

Also do check the terminal connections of battery(it's near to impossible to have faulty connection at terminals in new bike but why to take chance) are they properly connected or not.

Bhai jaan, pls clarify one thing for me. Isn't jump starting bad for FI vehicles? Hence I asked him to do a push start. But, both of you above have advocated jump starting instead.

I meant the same what you meant, but used a wrong word for it

Didn't went into too much technical lotcha. I unfortunately always uses the word jump-start instead of push start my bad.

Regarding jump start is good or bad for FI, I can't justify it much, but will always suggest not to jump start bikes using any other cars battery. It has it's own disadvantages in electrical terms. Also jump start only under guidance of an expert if one has never tried it.

Best is push start the bike the second gear.

Easiest way to start.... Just put the bike in second or first gear with ignition on. Put center stand (If u dont have ask some one to lift the back wheel up by tilting the bike in side stand) . Stand back a bit and Rotate the back wheel with hand (without holding clutch) with some force, like pulling the generator cord for starting it :P .. ( Needs some force to rotate. will be difficult in 1st gear, but can be done easily in 2nd or 3rd gear.) Thats it. The bike will crank easily this way Note: Do not engage/hold clutch while doing this

Waaw, guess now I would be able to start my bike. Finally got the trick. All thanks to you.
But again too much of labour, in it.
No need to do this much, just push starts as per the name push on your ownself and start.
                      But very helpful post. Enlightened.

Is there any alternative option for the front tyre? I am not able to find a stock front tyre in MRF showrooms in Bangalore. Dealers say there is no supply since 2 months. I have bought the rear tyre and now waiting for front. Also tyres are very costly in Yamaha service stations.

I got both my tyres changed yesterday.. Go to diz tyres near iblur signal and buy the tyre from them and get it fixed at a local tyre shop.. There is a shop that'll do it for 100 bucks a tyre on the service road of shell petrol bunk.. The font tyre costed me 2000 and 3000 for back. If you go to JC road you'll probably get about 500 off

Ahann! I so love them red levers.
Is there any way to get 'em for my bike here in Gujarat?
                              I live in Baroda, Gujarat.

Also, do the Yamaha guys sell spare tire hugger? If so then what is the cost and product code?

And on my t-bar, the 2 black bolt caps have cracks. I want some metal alternatives for both of them and also for the main bolt like those of R6's.

Don't mind if I qoute some very old messages, I'm going through this whole thread from the start.
