I think the crank case one isn't something to worry about.. You should check the forks first

I ran into a bit of a problem with my bike today, during the home run from ISG2G. First the engine overheat light came on, then I pulled over and when I checked the radiator, I found the coolant sprayed all over the engine, and onto the inside of the fairings. It seems as if the coolant was leaking. When I rode for a few kms, the engine malfunction light turned on. I had to ride at slow speeds, even then engine was overheating abnormally. Ill be taking it to the ASC and top up the coolant, I'll also have to check the oil level I guess, though I replaced the oil just a week before.

Most probably the coolant hose clip has come lose. Hope you haven't ridden it too much after this was noted. Less coolant of course means overheating. Take her to svc ASAP

Buddy, I cant outrightly deny chances of the test ride bike being harsh but the R15 is one of the smoothest revving engines on Indian roads! It literally begs to be revved hard and does that swiftly. Do not worry on this front - in fact this one of R15's USPs.

Adding to what TeeJayy said, you could have test rode a 3 year old R15, which is quite different to a new one, with the 2014 one getting the O2 sensor too. There should be a reason why the R15 sells 3000 units per month compared to very poor sales of its nearest competitor. Try out a new R15 for Test Ride.

I had to ride almost 200 kms taking frequent breaks to reach home that day. I was looking for motul coolant, but couldn't get it anywhere near my home. Got the Castrol Radicool instead. This is actually meant for heavy duty vehicles like trucks, but since I had no other option, I decided to go for it. It had to be mixed with water in a 1:3 ratio (750 ml of water for 250 ml coolant). When I loosened the coolant drain bolt, there was not even a single drop of coolant inside. I hope I haven't damaged the engine much .

I filled up the radiator and the reservoir(it was also empty). Rode it around for 10~15 kms in high revs, the engine didn't heat up. Its running good now .

I know a friend who rode R15 for 10k kms without a drop of coolant and his engine is fine even now after 40k kms. I think its some Aliens with future technology who built the engine for Yamaha.
In case you don't get coolant, you can always use distilled water till getting into the next Yamaha service station. I got this advice from Yamaha itself through mail some 2 years back if I remember it correctly.

No issues bro. Its a matter of pride for us owners that Yamaha has made such a robust machine that it can take huge amount of beating before giving up. Myself too running on castrol radicool although in 80-20 % percent proportion of distilled water to coolant for the last 50k kms bike currently touched 61k kms and all this on the stock bore pump n other gaskets that generally get in touch with the coolant had also run without coolant for 40 kms as the coolant drain bolt on the bore had come loose and all the coolant drained off .. So it ain't an issue

• Rode to Pune and back. 1000km in 2 days

Back from a ride of a thousand kilometers.

The clutch lever ran loose after reaching home. Got that tightened now.

But the bike doesn't self-start on the first shot, now. This has never happened in the last 2.5 years. It ALWAYS most obediently came to life at the first crank. This time, I had to rev it a little, simultaneously, while cranking it up.

Wonder what could be the reason?

Pic from the ride, somewhere on the Malshej Ghat.

If the battery is stock, it would be a good time to change it. 2 years is more than enough for the stock battery to last without any problem.

Ride safe and have fun.
