The speedo goes crazy after 120kph.. It keeps changing digits though the bike isn't accelerating or decelerating.. It started about a month ago.. Is it a sign of something going wrong?

      Thanks a Lot in Advance.
The same happened to me some 48000 kms back when the bike was new. Mech said water had seeped through the speedo assembly n shorted out some connection leading to this type of bogus readings and it was changed under warranty thanks to a helpful mech..

      • R15 v2.0 !! my bike is turning of while driving help!!

        hi ,
my bike is just acting weird now, there is some missing while driving. it acts like there is no petrol in the bike turning off suddenly, but it will start again.there is also a "tick tick " noise while this happens. i told all these and gave it to a service center, they said everything is ok and there is much less coolant in there and they filled it,and everything was fine for a week. today i faced the same problem,i had to push my bike to my house. i noticed the coolant is also leaking , is it because of this leakage my bike is turning off? please help

But when I was running the engine for around 15-20 kms or mins, the engine is behaving normally and getting started at idle RPM of 1.25k - 1.35k. But when I am trying to start the cold engine, say after a gap of 4 hours or more, the idle RPM issue is coming back. Also, after a long gap, of 4 hrs and more, when I was trying to start the engine with a little throttle, only then the engine was staying at idle RPM. I was facing this start issue only when the engine is cold.

          3. The engine was not giving good response below 4k RPM but above that it was running normally and holding speed without any issue.
I have asked many experts and they have given me the following possible causes:

          1st & 3rd issue:

Valve clearance was not correct. In R15 the valve need to have a minimum of 0.20 mm gap for the AFR to work correctly and to make the engine produce correct power and function normally. In my case the valve clearance had gone below 0.15 mm. As a result required amount of air was not coming through to make the correct combustion. Hence there was inadequate power and engine was thriving at very low RPM or even shutting down when cold with no idle RPM in play.
This was informative, I have 2008 r15 with similar issue.

Just a cold start problem, cold start means 6-7 hrs of gap between the operating period. It used at least three to four starter cranks, for about 2-3 seconds before starting.
Other than that the bike is smooth, every revs, idles fine up to 1.5K revs after the start(doesn't stutter or stalls at all) , everything smooth even starts on first crank when hot enough.

I adjusted tappets, I guess the exhaust one is a bit on its tighter side. You mentioned here that it tighter 0.15mm.

Was exhaust the only one tight? Or was intake ones tight too?.

similar stories and solutions also appreciated.

            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

            THE END

Looks like the injectors are jammed. Get the injectors cleaned and see if it helps. Also clean the air-filter.
As for coolant leakage, it shouldn't kill the engine like this. Get it also checked. But i think the problem lies with the injectors.

              Ride safe and have fun.

Check your spark plug cap, I have had this problem a few times, usually in the rainy season or after washing the bike.

Check the tappets, Tik tik sound translates to loose tappets but i wonder if it has anything to do with bike stalling. Also check the spark plug and connectors, sometimes the connectors have a loose connection because of water entering there.

Hello folks, got a question here. While adjusting the tension in the chain, aren't we actually altering the wheelbase of the motorcycle?!

+1 for above posts. The coolant leakage is normal after refilling. Happened to me once.

What happens is the service center guys fill the coolant to the max level mark, as the bike heats up the coolant expands and crosses the max level mark(matter expands when heated).
There is a drain pipe that discards the extra coolant out of the bike, its a black pipe near the stand. I had 1 or 2 drops of coolant on the floor every morning for a few days. Asked the service center guys, and they gave me the above info. It should stop in a few days, as the coolant level settles down.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Technically yes, but the change will be so little that it is virtually unnoticeable.

Took delivery of my blueberry today. Rode 100kms with plenty of cool off times. Coming from a fazer, yes the low end is missed but still its decent.
Riding position is nice, neck pain, shoulder pain ..all is there but its all part of the deal
Love the way people look at it.
some quality control issues are there like the misaligned tail. Will make it fine by myself by adding couple of washers at one side.
Gear shifts are smooth but first two gears giving me some fight.
My idling rpm keeps fluctuating even after riding 40kms, will get it checked at first service.
Tomorrow going back to hostel which is 300kms away, gonna be an awesome ride.
Glad to own this beauty, glad to be here with you fellas.
                          Cheers.

Good question. The range of adjustment must be roughly an inch I am guessing? (I don't have the bike with me anymore) How much difference that makes i don't know, it's not something that I noticed in my riding. (Usually, the SVC guy would over tighten the chain, the effects of that are more prominent.) If someone knows anything about this I'd be interested to know.

The thing actually is, I got my chain changed a few months back. The earlier chain was running at the last setting( SVC personnels' devil, to an extent mine). The new chain is now running on the second adjustment and I felt the bike to be a bit twitchy, nimble or maybe it is just in my head.

Yes, used to have this problem with the spark plug with my splendour, couple of years back... Remove the rubber cap, with off the rainy water from the inside and it will be as good as new.
