Do we have to change the exhaust as well, if yes is it too loud. police troubles are more common if it is too loud.
The whole kit comes with the following:

    1. Exhaust
    2. Short levers
    3. Chain Sprocket
    4. Remapped ECU
    5. Brake kit

You can buy altogether or you buy separately also. These are genuine as these are being sold by Yamaha Factory Shop, Pune.

Yes it is loud. But you can have a DB silencer installed.

I have no idea about the power rating, should ask my friend who's done the mod. Earlier he tried using a 60/55W H4 setup by replacing the stock bulbs and at that time itself we found two instances that happened...

      1. The bulbs didnt turn on until the bike was revved a little
      or
      2. The bulbs glow instantly and then humming sound from the fuel pump goes to an extreme low! (All these were tried on the stock battery and the bike is still on stock battery)

Regarding the 5A battery, the battery guy told me that he has fit them in many R15's by altering the battery box (didn't ask how). I've also read that Amaron makes 5A batteries that come as a direct fit to the R15 and somewhere in this thread i also read that the alternator has to be tweaked so as to increase the charging rate. I think the stock one's are pretty good enough!

I had a chat with a Yam mechanic at the SVC and he gave me some gyan regarding Daytona, the V1 and V2.

        - Daytona was meant only for the V1. Installing it on the V2 will not have any effect on the performance .
        - There is no warranty on the Daytona kit parts. The warranty is only on the stock parts.
        - The Mechanic 'Dude' has a R15 V1 of his own with Daytona installed and claims a top speed on 141 with half tank of petrol and full crouching position)
        - Yamaha does not make Daytona for the V2. It was only for V1 and V2 performs at par with a Daytona enhanced V1 (He has not fitted the Daytona in a single V2 so far)
        - The V2 has a sprocket ratio change to improve acceleration and reduce top speed
        - Only thing required to be maintained on the bike is the chain - to be cleaned and lubed after 500 kms.
        - Other things to be measured with a scale - Accelerator Play, Clutch Play and Chain slack. Measurements provided in the manual.
        - The chains are O-ring type so they might break in the middle (due to poor maintenance). You may observe chain being stiff at certain points and loose at certain points. Time to change the chain at that time.
        - Finally his V1 is going strong at 160K Kms on the ODO with a Daytona Kit. Cheers to Yamaha!!
There is no better therapy than riding a bike down a straight road at full throttle with the sound of the engine for company.

Any idea on where I would be able to get Green Demon eyed projectors like these in Chennai? Tried Hardeep but he said that people ask for only red ones and so he doesnt order any green ones!

There was an article in Bikeindia sometime back about R15V2 one-make races being held at MMSC. Those bikes were fitted with Daytona kits. To all those getting excited about it, may I remind u that those kits are for Racing/track use ONLY. Before buying, at least try out a bike with the Kit installed, you might change ur mind. If performance is what u are after then save the money and go to a riding school. A few HP here and there is *nothing* compared to what u can get from improved riding skills. If posing is what interests u, then ur better off buying projector lamps and stickers, because with a loud FFE people can now tell from a mile away that u can't ride for sh*t.

oh, that was obvious lol...internet's got too many short-forms for me :P

@incipient - need to lighten up mate, don't get so serious/uptight about such silly things :-)

btw many/most people install projectors for better lights for night riding because for those who do night riding regularly the R15 stock lights are pure useless and shit...yes many are probably just posing with that too, but not all...there's nothing wrong with people wanting to personalize their bikes with projectors or stickers or other superficial stuff and more importantly all that doesnt have any relation to the rider's skills being good or shit...

however it's mostly true that most people (riding any bikes) with open cans for no reason just want to attract everyone's attention but probably can't ride anything skillfully...but am sure there are plenty with good skills as well as FFE in their bike because they like to hear the sound as well.

Now that I think about it, it's none of my business getting annoyed at (what I perceive as) the silly things that people do. But, I do get annoyed and it's because I take riding seriously. BTW, regarding FFE, personally, I think they sound awful and I can't stand noise. On a track u obviously want 'em but I don't agree with their use on public roads. But hey, I do things that lots of people won't agree with, such as riding at highly illegal speeds (though responsibly I might add). :-D

He is right on that one!! I have hit 140 with full tank petrol and saddle bags on my V2... mine was speedo indicated. if he is talking about gps speed its really great...

I have 6000k projectors on mine.. power rating is same as the stock bulbs(35W) except the starting voltage is 12KV,
The angel rings are of 3W and there are four of them so thats total 12W more than stock bulbs.. that drains the battery in about two hours..

Got a call from Yamaha regarding my first free service and the lady at the other end specifically mentioned that if I do not avail the free service, my warranty will be void! What ridiculous thing is this? Have you faced any trouble with this? It is non sense!!

Yes, it is true. Get your bike serviced at regular intervals to keep your warranty.

yes those of us who take riding (and the essence of it etc) very personally and seriously cant stand posers..but my point was there are also many people who take riding as much seriously and have good respectable skills but also like to personalize their bikes for that special feeling you get when looking at it...meaning that personalization (which can be counted as something to pose for) of your bike and the rider's skills are uncorrelated in general. :-)

true story for me too, mostly...i sometimes like it, sometimes not...for example i cant stand the thumper sound of royal enfields, harleys and other slowass noisy cruisers...that sound is just plain irritating to me and i still dont know how the road regulations allow cruisers to have such high decibels while none other kind of bikes are legally allowed so much noise...but on the other hand i have heard some random pulsars, apaches, CBRs etc on the roads with open cans/FFE and i mostly loved the sound (it's a very different note of sound from thumpers, usually of much less frequency and therefore more downtuned)...however admittedly what i heard from these latter bikes were at low revs (or standing still), i reckon hearing the loud at high revs will be irritating and distracting for me too at least on public roads...

It is not ridiculous brother, getting the bike services timely ensures the long life of the engine. And the first 6 free services are very important because, your bike is in run in period. The engine polishes itself to perfection and removes rough edges from the pistons. Due to this polishing the engine oil gets dirty from the fine metal particles and oil filter traps much of these particles. regular service ensures that engine oil as well as the oil filter is changed and fresh new oil is filled. This results in smoother drive and long life of engine.

Even if the warranty remains unaffected, you should get your ride serviced at specified time. The manufactures know what is best for the bike.

                                .
Agree with you on the thumpers part mate, these stupid machines are overweight and underpowered, and people owning them think that they are the kings of the road, and people should treat them royally. One of my colleges owns such a thing and most people advice me that I should have bought the Bullet like him instead of R15. Their logic - Its good in the hills(I live in dehradun, close to mussorie, nainital, badrinath, kedarnath and many many more hill stations). They dont know that ever single screw, nut and bolt on a R15 is better quality than the Bullet.

To speak the truth I would rather walk all the way to my office rather than ride one of those, stupid noisy things.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.
