Dude this is regarding your post in 390 thread..... Your decision to sell the bike is way too early. Judging or understanding a bike in just 700kms is impossible or incorrect. And are you riding with a pillion in R15? If yes and if pillion is your top priority, then you made the wrong choice by buying R15 . With pillion R15 loses all its torque. I still dunno why. Its the bike Which needs to be Enjoyed solo and Revd hard. My opinion, please explore the bikes powerband and then decide. If you are going to use with pillion, you will never enjoy R15.

Dude.. 2.5 months is too much. Go to a different showroom in your city.
If you cannot go there, try to get the contact of the Area Sales Manager for Yamaha for Kerala (you can ask the showroom guys, be a bit nice to them and get the number). Contact the Sales Manager and tell him your problem. He will have it fixed.

You'll get used to it after riding the bike for 2 weeks. Trust me, if you get the riding position correct you'll love it. I've done Pune-B'lore round trip twice and my experience was good.

        For point 2:

R15V2 has an improved/remapped ECU just to nullify the low-end torque problem. My bike pulls nice from 2k RPM and it's not an issue to ride in the traffic unlike the V1. Though R15's true colour comes out after 6K RPM. What is your idle RPM set at?

Regarding D390, it's a super VFM bike but I felt the build quality is not that good, though it's my personal opinion only and don't wanna get into a debate. Two of our Pune chapter members, both are superb riders with loads of experience and the ones to have D390s, sold off their bikes. One bought a N300 and the other person got pissed off with the issues. Issues as per them:

        1. Body vibration.
        2. Rim problems.
        3. Engine sounds.

So if you really wanna invest money, my 2 cents would be to go with either N300 or invest some more and go for N650 or wait for R25.
Yeah.. I am getting used to the riding position now. Done 700 km. Actually I feel a bit weird riding the normal bikes now. My feet go back trying to look for the gears and brake!
I never had issues riding in traffic (never said I did). But I missed the slingshot kind of acceleration that my CL500 had. So thought maybe a D390 might provide that.

But reading your posts and others on the D390 thread, have made up my mind against it.

Its a wait for the R25 then but till then, its happy 'R15ing'!!

        Cheers!

I normally ride alone and discourage pillions at all times (Tell then about the uncomfortable seat and back pains and all!!). Completely agree with you that it is a bike to be enjoyed alone and does not like pillions..

Indeed.. the pillion becomes such a burden on ur back.. the entire weight of the pillion falls over u due to the raised tail section.
Incidentally I just test rode a newly serviced R15 today only, I had gone to check out the new FZ 2.0.. which I found to be such a powerless motorcycle, but I don't know what's inside the engine that makes it so smooth with ZERO vibs. Probably the easiest to ride motorcycle out there today.
Back to R15, oh man what an adequately powered handling package, telepathic handling seriously.. and the pull was impressive even with a pillion. I wanted to kick the pillion out and take a solo round cutting traffic & corners etc.. Some vibs on the footpegs, I felt it builds up revs slower than the 200NS ? Atleast with a pillion takes much time to reach 60-100.. but still the overall acceleration for me who rides a 200NS, was impressive enough! best part was the rock solid stability at speeds & the riding confidence it inspires. Utterly impressed with the machine!
My last impression of a R15 test ride was totally opposite probably due to a poorly maintained piece.

more so than other kinds of bikes, for any proper sportbike the pillion is a huge burden and a major performance reducing factor..

indeed R15v2 is the bike to have if you want killer handling at corners (and thus to use such a confident/secured bike to train and learn yourself at cornering) and high speed stability and maneuvering confidence and for me it's a massive fun to cut through traffic as well...it's also surprisingly solid at wet conditions which am sure is again far better than other bikes and does the off roads fine too if you can take it and is a great cruiser as well all day long at high speeds where most/all other bikes would vibrate the shit out of itself and become tired too soon.

never to forget the massive unforgettable pull of the bike at 6500-9000 RPM (at any gear save the 6th at which it's relatively flat by default) that is so awesome that it's as addictive as its handling is.

yes indeed with a pillion it relatively lulls to reach 60-100 but that's how it's supposed to be...it's not for pillion riding, just mere city commuting or only cruising despite being great at it....it's so much more than these conventional un-energetic non-fun purposes...

Today morning had a first & minor crash in two years, a drunk cyclist suddenly changed his direction and came on my way, I was riding at about 60kmph I braked hard but i emtered water clogged area of the road and unfortunately bike slipped, i escaped with no bruises or injury but bike suffered with some scratches and crack near headlight assembly on the right side.
Can this be fixed without replacing with the new one?

Yes it can be fixed without replacing the whole headlight assembly.

                          1. Properly clean the area with a damp cloth and then a dry cloth.
                          2. Ask someone to hold the assembly together from both the sides.
                          3. Use feviquick (5 rupee small pack) to stick the panel. (Use the feviquick tube like a correction pen over the crack, it will seep through and hold the pieces together).

Remember: Feviquick takes about 3-4 minutes to dry on a plastic surface, so the person holding the two sides together should not release the panels immediately.

                          4. After 5 minutes when the first coat has dried, apply an additional coat from both sides. (inside the assembly as well as the outside).

Note: did this on my friend's pulsar's windshield about 2 years ago, and it's still holding up pretty good. So I hope it does the job for you.
                          If not then use M-Seal.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

well my friend, I kind of agree with you on this one, but the burden on the back reduces significantly if the pillion sits properly.
I ask my pillion not to lean on me as I'm driving. I ask him/her to sit straight, ask they would do on a normal bike and place their hands on my shoulders.
This posture relives my shoulders from the heavy burden that you are talking about, gives the pillion my shoulders to grab on for support and I have space and freedom to move about and freely control my bike.
Try this next time you ride a R15 and feel the difference.

When I first stepped into Sairam Yamaha (3-4 months ago), All that grabbed my attention was a Limited Edition R15 with Projector lamps kept under lights for display! Immediately I enquired about it and the reply given was that they come fitted from the factory and the cost would be 10k extra than the normal one (halogen). I thought that one could give that price for a neat installation job done by the factory but.... I still felt something fishy. Anyways i just bought some spares for my bike and left. Today 29th June, I went with my friend to Hardeep auto garage @ GP road to fix projectors and DRL's for his R15 V1. Halfway through, I heard a screeching noise on the road. When I turned back to look, It was a brand new Special Edition Racing blue R15 coming to a halt at the stop. The next i saw is this "Revs your Heart" logo on the shirt... And finally "Sairam Motors" written on it as well. Upon enquiring there, The guy who does all the installations said that they always come here and fix projector lights for their bikes and take them back. My friend got 2 Projector lights and DRL's installed and it cost him not more than 4k. Now, I'm not saying that they are cheating by asking more money from the customers, just forget that... leave "money"... I'm here just talking about how those bikes were treated Our bike was getting modified when this new r15 came... and within an hour, another one gave an entry... Yes, Another Special Racing Blue. The guy who came in and parked the bike got down and his first words were "The bike is overheating a lot". It was true. I could feel the heat from a feet away. This guy again went somewhere, i dont know where to but i could hear him hitting the limiter in the first two gears and ripping the bike. The bike was handled very badly, i can even say, the worst ever And finally when me and my frind take out our bike from the shop and to the road, this guy who came back a while ago took this bike a bit gently up on the platform, on seeing which i felt a bit happy but then this happens... The installation guy asked him to park his bike a bit to the right and so he just literally did a burnout on the platform and swayed that bike to the right. The wheel was smoking and there was this black line on it I really feel sad for those people who are gonna get bikes handled like these. Who knows how my R15 was handled when it was delivered to me with 17kms on the odo from the godown itself... I myself took the bike to the RTO as i knew how these bikes would be put to drag tests, acceleration, braking etc etc tests by these guys on the go My bike is now 8 months old and is now good at 9k kms! I'm attaching a few pictures i managed to take at the spot. i coulkdnt take the burnout tyre pic as he did it while we were leaving. I know that we cant change their behaviour but i'm just posting this to let you guys know!

                                Attaching pics...
