    • I've just completed 450 kms on the ODO and my drive chain has become loose and makes noise...is this suppose to happen in a new bike?...i checked while taking delivery, the chain was lubed and tight as per the figures mentioned in the manual...i usually shift at 4k- 4.5k rpm and give gradual acceleration...no jerks and shift smoothly...should i get it tightened or wait till the first servicing?

Thats normal, the bike is new so every part is getting accustomed to your riding style. Yup get it adjusted in the first servicing which is due on 1000kms or 30days whichever is earlier.
To tell you an example, first few kms gearshifts were hard but today morning they are butter smooth. Happens on new engine.

Whatever you do please dont go ahead the prescribed rpm limit, this is an important period for your bike.

@all It was lunch break time and I couldnt think of anything than to take her for a spin. If you all know i have named it Stryker.

                  Its an attention seeker.

A quick summary of 100kms which i just clocked right now.

                  Engine -
Initial 5-15kms were hardshifts, may be the engine was getting used to my type of shifting (which is shitty to the core ). Right now i hardly feel any shifting, all i hear is change in rpms directly so smooth so pleasant. Maintaining it till 5000RPM as i do not want to exceed in the running in period. Perfectly fine with me.

                  Handling
If you ride in eased out manner there is absolutely no problem to the bike, even if pillion is present. I had a small ride in the most busiest of places in Pune, took her to the city area and i was actually enjoying the ride. The moment you rip,the pillion will suffer, but if you choose to cruise then the pillion feels as if sitting on a bar stool and actually ordering a Lager.

Upshifting is perfect no strain on my left leg, but as i choose to downshift i have to take my leg out and then shift, Vishwas - TrustVishwas said that happens because of my butter chicken filled legs, too much of fat. Also iam 6 feet tall so have kinda long legs. But iam fine with it once in a while.

Cross winds do not affect handling, a freaking Volvo passed and i was doing around 50kmph on the highway. Vishwas also said that if you crouch completely the bike would be stable as rock even at high speeds, i assume 100kmph plus. This is something new for me as it was completely absent on my P180, Discover and Dio.

Cornering has not been done full fledged but yes i no more keep one butt cheek out when taking corners. Lean and corner, its done. Grin & go home.

                  Features
I would really love if Yamaha would have provided a watch on the console and a mileage calculater. Iam wearing full gauntlets when using Stryker, difficult to see the time.
Fuel calculator cz there is no reserve as such where you turn the knob and know 40odd kms are left before going absolutely dry.

                  Additional Info-
Fans kicked in at the signal, quite normal i believe.
I sat as pillion when my friend was riding and she wasn't doing much, 50-60kmph to be precise. Same logic applies, Cruise = Ok, Rip = wet your pants.
Full tank costed 800rs only as there was fuel in it from YFS.

                  Doubts
Can anyone tell me are there 3 meter readings-
                  1) ODOMETER
                  2) TRIP METER 1
                  3) TRIP METER 2
                  4) F METER - i read it in manual and saw it yest. Some 5 kms calculation is given can anyone please highlight on this. Do i need to fill fuel when this blinks or i have some X kms still left, if x kms are left then how much is x?
Also will the Pump Mechanism get damaged when it blinks?

Thats the only doubt for now.

I have no clue why iam reading reviews of members complaining back and wrist pain, Wear your gear and you are fine. Also i believe that every bike has a position and technique to sit. Once you master that you are comfortable all the way.

Also the aggressive seating posture ensures you are confident on the road. Apart from downshifting i do not find any other problems. The bike is gem and working fine.

F- starts flashing when the bike goes onto reserve fuel (1.9 litres).
You must already be aware that the fuel pump needs to be immersed in fuel always to avoid damage. Hence you should refuel asap once the F- starts flashing. It stays on for 5 kms even after refueling I believe.

EDIT: One more suggestion. Do not use a metal key chain. The paint on the handle bar starts chipping off.

                      • I am totally satified with my machine... responds awesome!!! Earlier there were little bit roughness in the engine at high temperature...and also vibes at 3-4k rpm... now its totally gone and it has become a smooth machine

                        • Completed my First Service !

I gave my Bike for servicing today morning . My ODO reading was : 1124 km's

I have quoted the Cost and job done by the service mechanic -

                          1. Changed Engine oil . Yamaha R15 ( engine oil ) - Rs.410.48
                          2. Changed the oil filter - Rs.165.94
                          3. Changed Bracket , License - Rs.51.88
                          4. Tuning Fork mark - Rs.8.73
                          5. Chain cleaning oil - Rs.100
                          6. Chain lubricating oil - Rs.100
                          7. Consumables - Rs.30

                          Vat - 14.5% : Rs.121.37 & service tax - 12.36% : Rs.3.71 .

                          Total Cost was - 992.11 !

Observation after service is done -

                          1. Engine is smooth .
                          2. Gear shifts is smooth .
                          3. Braking is excellent .

I'm not happy with the mileage after my bike came from the service

Before filling petrol i had around 1.90 l or below . F - indication flashed and i rode for 25 km's and then refilled 4.10 l of petrol @ Shell ( Ekaduthangal ) . The bar showed my '4' points and after riding for 20km's the 4th bar completely vanished and i reset the Trip - 1 . When the Trip -1 showed 75 km's ( riding on city traffic and that too on doubles ) , the 3rd point vanished completely . So it delivered me 75/2 = 37.5 km/liter. and i gave my bike for servicing today , while the Trip - 1 reading was 110 km's . After i got my bike from service , i rode for 15 km's and the 2 nd point vanished completely . So if i calculate 125/4 ( because '2' points ) , the overall mileage is - 31.25 km/liter ! What the hell is that ? Same thing happened to me last time , when the 2nd point appears , after i do 25 km's that point vanishes completely. But rest of the points , according to my calculation it is delivering my a descent mileage of 37.5 km/liter and above !
