Yes WD40 is bad for the rubber and plastic parts, but only if it is left on the parts for a long period of time (days rather than minutes). spraying WD40 and then cleaning with a clean dry cloth after 10 -15 minutes does not affect the parts in any way (Just like we clean our O ring chain with WD40, which have rubber O ring seals on every link, but we spray WD40 and clean within 15 minutes and the rubber rings are not affected in any way).

So it is now a week to the beauty and haven't been able to ride much because of the rains, still managed to clock 80 odd kms! A few observations.

1. The seat is super super hard. Although it has that grippy fabric, no matter how much I try to wriggle myself back and forth, it is just not comfortable enough. Will have to head to my seat maker soon.I am 6ft tall and even in the most comfortable trousers or riding wear, the seat is just not bearable. This is where Honda takes the cake and the cherry!

2. The tweaks to the ECU work well and there is good low end power, more so as you cross 3k plus. But otherwise you have to downshift, although not that much. The pick up is superb as well!

3. The suspension is set stiff so go easy on those bad roads. I so wish the rear was adjustable. The tradeoff is the pliant ride.

4. Have managed to do 70 kays max in the rains on the highway and must say the tyres have started to inspire confidence. But taking it easy right now.

5. Riding with a pillion is not a problem and bike never runs out of breath!

6. Stock bulbs need replacement for sure, but the combined throw of the 35-35s is not bad. Definitely not ideal for touring though.

7. The bike is built very well and no rattles by far. I just don't like the way the plastic flexes. It has too much play especially the lower bits and could easily snap while polishing or cleaning. Would have appreciated a little more firm stuff.

Looks like the running in period will take a little while longer to complete. Using nitrogen with air pressure kept at 28 and 33 respectively. So far so good!

Anyone knows of any good sticker shop (Professional work needed) in Hyderabad?

Need to get some new stickers on my R15.

Agree with you on the plastic flexing (and others as well!).. But hope that it does not snap as easily as it sways..

Going to get an oil and oil filter change after doing 250 odd KMS.. Dnt know if it helps or not but giving some xtra care to the baby R1 will not hurt.
There is no better therapy than riding a bike down a straight road at full throttle with the sound of the engine for company.

Not needed. Stick to the schedule as mentioned.

I did 125-127 kmph right before hitting 3000 km on Odo.
The throttle was very weak after cruising from 110 kmph. Guess I asked for too much before bike's things falls into places gradually.
Another thing, I missed the second service which is at 3000km. I have done 3812 on odo This very moment I'm writing this.
I was scared to ride it so I checked brake fluids and coolant level and they are normal. The next service is scheduled on 16th Aug, shall I just get my baby toned up in next service or do Yamaha guys provide paid services if missed one?
Also, when I leave my hands from handle bars, I did it just for checking if the balancing is okay or not and my ride goes towards the ride side. What would be the problem? Are the forks faulty? I've never let my babe have any collision or damage. I told about it to the service guy in first service but he said it's totally okay..no problem at all. But I'm not satisfied with it. What should I do about it?

Has anyone done the smoke thingy to R15's head and tail lights?!

• Grimmjow4.. You should do the servicing. As 38xx kms for the second one is more than enough. Do it paid and then follow the normal schedule.

As for the smokey things, that would hinder the illumination of the headlights and hamper night riding.

The bike going towards one side when you leave the handle bar is normal. If the cone-set is damaged, that would cause the bike to be shaky at higher speeds and while cornering.

Btw.. Are you are Bleach fan.. ?

my coneset and ball racer were found to be damaged a few days ago but the bike was shaky/wobbly only at low speeds, both in straight line as well as the turns...at higher speeds (say above 70 kmph or so) everything felt and behaved normally and the bike was not wobbly or nervous at all... :-)

Good thing that you got them changed
On my brothers R15, the bike used to wobble real bad at higher speeds (70km/h+) because of damaged cone-set (happened due to a nasty fall).

Might have been a manufacturing defect.
Anyways, enjoy the Blue

according to the mechanic who discovered it, some water might have seeped in recently causing the rust in just a matter of days (adding to the fact was that its lubrication had dried up as well, so nothing protected it from the rusting and the consequent friction)...i dont think it was a manufacturing defect, because it was all fine until 2 weeks ago when abnormality started surfacing out of the blue and kept on piling up everyday...anyways, let's hope it doesnt happen again after mere 7500 kms. :-)

Yeah, I will go for the paid service then follow the regular periodic ones.

I'm gonna have smoked tail-lamps, I mean a little bit not too dark.

But my cone-set has never been damaged .It's hardly 4 months since I got my bike and hasn't come across any physical harm. Can it be a manufacturing defect?
Even the clip-on bars seems little bit out of it's places and I don't feel good about it man.

Hell yeah. Imma die-hard fan of Bleach. You won't believe how crazy fan if I tell you one thing..

I installed projectors lamps recently(6000K)... they light up the road really good... so much better than the stock lamps and looks cool.. no problems from the cops so far because it doesn't prick eyes in low beam.. so far so good.!! I stay in Bangalore and i did a solo ride form Bangalore to Sirsi almost 1000kms.. I rode continuously for two hours with lights on and bike refused to turn on once i stopped.. the engine warning light came on.. did a jump start and it was fine.. still bike turned off when i switched the lights on again.. the lights drain the battery. Has anyone had the same problem and rectified it.? its not hard to live with it though, all i have to do is plan my rides accordingly..
If any one is looking for projectors here are a few things to know
1. Costs around 5k
2. Lights up the road really well, truck and taxi drivers respect you.
3. Looks really cool with the angel lights on.
4. Cant run for more than two hours on stock battery(my experience so far).
5. Lot of wires and transformers will be stuffed into the faring.
6. U have to ride for sufficiently long during the day for the battery to charge up so that u can ride at night.
7. U can switch back to stock bulbs if u want to.
Must get it if you are not much into night rides...

Talk about Yamaha quality. First wear and tear on the tank, just 10 days after the purchase even when I have barely ridden the bike. See for yourselves and suggest me what to do. Doesn't paint usually come off when the bike ages? This is plain terrible.
