@^^^^ These morons need to be thought their lessons. Making changes to the stock bike and selling them will void the warranty and shouldn't be done by any dealer.

I've seen many SVC mechanics riping bikes, especially Yamaha guys. Like you, I've also seen a SVC guy doing burnout on a R15 that was parked for regular service.

I suggest you shoot a mail to Yamaha India, complaining about the particular SVC by attaching the pictures as evidence. As the face of the particular SVC mechanic is clearly seen in the pic, I hope Yamaha India would take stern action against him and thus other SVC guys would fear to commit such kind of mistakes again.

Using in r15 since it clocked 15k (now 35k)... vibrations at high rpm is less as compared to yamahalube(stock). Reasonable smoothness at high rpm. Drain interval also increased 5k kms. Smoothness is still same till drain point. 300v motul rockzz

This posture relives my shoulders from the heavy burden that you are talking about, gives the pillion my shoulders to grab on for support and I have space and freedom to move about and freely control my bike.
Try this next time you ride a R15 and feel the difference.
Im sure a smart pillion would know better than the silly showroom person who accompanied me. I was riding really hard though, so obviously he was scared as hell and couldn't say a word to me. he was glued to me like a girlfriend & both his knees were stabbing my back area haha.

How is vibrations and Engine oil related? At what mileage did you change the oil? Is it FS?

WOww! Thats the limit of cheating your customer. We must write to Yamaha India.

Btw, Nice work on the headlights. Please provide the specifics (Cost, specs). Did you change the battery?

@Arvind Sibi - why do you consider 'hitting the rev limiter at first 2 gears and ripping it up' is a bad way to handle the R15 ? (unless you mean he was doing it on cold engine)

Dude it's a common practice among showroom/svc people everywhere, ripping a new bike, redlining a cold engine in neutral and all that. Giving repeated test rides on a single machine, then polishing the tyres so it looks untouched. Luckily modern engines are too strong.
But It's very surprising to know that a showroom is offering crap chinese projectors fitted on the R15 and claiming that it's directly from the Yamaha company for extra charges.. That's real cheating right there.
I'm also surprised you had decided upon a 17 Kms old bike. 17 Kms is a high number for a so to be "untouched" bike from a goddown.

Also see this vid at 0:47 to see how your motorcycles are handled when fired up for the very first time. A must do thing for a new engine.

Dude Did you notice ??? Its a brand new bike thats gonna be registered/sold to a customer. Customer thinks his bike has been handled properly before delivering,But this is the way SVC handles. So think of Running-In the bike which has already hit the Limiter in its very first Kms.

oh sorry i didnt realise he was still talking of the new bike that he first mentioned...i thought he was referring to another racing blue which was not new...

yes if it was new then hitting rev limiter in low gears in run in period is too brutal for the engine.

Sorry if I hadn't made it clear. Actually both the bikes are brand new and were from the same showroom. Both had come for the same purpose of replacing the stock lights to projectors! Regarding the redlining. I saw the odo when the first bike was parked and it read 19kms. After an hour the mechanic said that he forgot to get something and so he took the bike down to the road holding the clutch since it was in 1st gear, turned they key started up as soon as the diagnostics started and revved past us even before the rpm needle was able to do a full sweep and here is when he hit the limiters in the first 2 gears! :@

The DRL's alone cost ₹900 for a set, Each projector around 1.2k and labour around ₹700! The Bike is still running on stock battery for the past 3 years. The bike was running on projectors for 2 years and since my friend went abroad for a year, the bike's headlights were reverted back to stock and now back to projectors! The horn does struggle when the projectors come on though. Planning for a 5amp battery soon.

Apart from installing those lights themselves, they also warn other customers that installing projectors void the warranty! :/ Regarding my bike, other bikes over there were also at. 15-20kms in the godown. They say that those bikes are transported from nearby godowns by authorised personnel :/ that's why I myself decided to do the RTO jobs since I didn't want to put in my bike to more torture! I can't see the video right now due to poor internet. Will see it soon.

Not that I know of, but the engine life and durability should not be affected, because daytona has been making performance mods for racing bikes for a long period of time and they are pretty good at it. After all daytona guys dont want people to say that their bike's engine got kaput after using daytona mods. That would damage their reputation.
Still talk to guys who have been using the kit for some time, and take their feedback before going for the mod.

What are the power ratings for the projectors?
Is there room to fit a 5 amp battery? Is the electronics of the bike (esp. the EFI) good with the extra battery rating?

Well, I talked to a Yamaha mechanic (he is the most experienced one). He said that they are reliable and do not mess up the bike. Very few people go for it though.
Wanted to get the ECU and Engine kit with the silencer. But I have heard that the silencer is too loud. A stock silencer with the modified ECU will not make any sense.

Gave the bike for 1st servicing today. Have asked for the below things to be done.
                            1. Oil + Oil filter change
                            2. Air Filter cleaning
                            3. Tighten the fairing screws
                            4. Coolant top up
                            5. Chain cleaning and lubing
                            6. Brake caliper cleaning (for screech sound)

                            Anything I missed?
I had to leave her and go to office. Anyway I can check if all this was actually done (Esp. 1 and 2).

Nopes you've covered up almost everything. Air filters are good to go for 3K kms before cleaning required. So need not worry. Main work for 1st service is to change the oil and oil filter and that you've done. So no worries !!!

+1. Engine life and durability stays the same as Yamaha India recommends it and they have done the testing before approving it. The R15 engine is one of its kind. My friend has got 140K kms on his R15 and the engine has not yet been opened yet. Also, it still touches 140-145 kmph regularly, just like a new well maintained R15.

Do we have to change the exhaust as well, if yes is it too loud. police troubles are more common if it is too loud.
