I think you are the most apt guy to lead there. Even if it starts with a few, it eventually will grow.

PS: I will be coming down to Pune very soon. Hope to catch up with you guys then.

cool. doesnt matter if its 2 or 4. the important thing is the Ride. have fun when you ride but keeping in mind that only serious riders do it. do not go behind numbers, you will miss out on the ride quality.

And Please do not entertain a person/newbie inquiring about oils, mileage,PDI etc! These topics have been discussed infinite times in this thread! If they don't have the patience to check the older pages in thread, it simply reflects their laziness!

@ All - Has anyone removed the rear mudguard along with the saree guard?? if yes can we have some pics from all sides. Also how is it in rains? Any problem of splashing or brake light being in problem.
I have been riding without full mudguard for the past 2 months. Have done some rain trips too in western ghats. The mud does splash on the rear of the bike!In heavy rains it also splashes on the bike behind!

                      • Hitting the rev limiter!

Hi, this is actually my first post on xbhp even though I've been a silent member for quite a longtime. I'll post an intro on the respective thread soon.

I own a R15 v2. Lately, due to exams I've been stuck at home. So I take her out for short evening blasts. I tend to hit the rev-limiter in the first gear almost every time and the second rarely. Right now, my question is whether hitting the rev-limiter like that bad? I read some posts on other forums. It seems hitting the rev-limiter when the bike is stationery is bad(but then again that was a Gixxer forum). I've hit the rev-limiter twice when the bike was stationery just to show my brothers the rev-limiter.

I wanna know what the possible implications are, of hitting the rev-limiter in the early gears. It is just too addictive.

Also, my ODO reading is 1700kms. Too young for the abuse, you might say?

Please dont post twice, but i think its an error and not a mistake.

Nevermind coming back to the topic.

Have you completed Run in period of your bike -
If no then you shouldn't be doing that, refrain until your run in period is completed.
If yes then its okay to do that when the bike is moving and not stationary.

Though the peak power is at 8,500rpm you can go ahead till 10,500 to witness the total output of the engine. But i must warn you that doing every-time will harm the engine in the long run. So just to witness how fast does it go you can go redline in the 6th gear (Please wear all the safety gear and ensure you are not racing and the road is empty, do not try to do in traffic).

Engine cut off harms the engine as well as other components.

EDIT - 1700kms on the odo then its fine but not always.

And yes I've completed run-in. A very careful and dedicated run-in that too. Well, my LS2 Phobia is pretty much all the safety gear I wear for my short evening blasts. I'm still in the process of procuring gear.(I'm a student, takes time to save up money.)

So I can hit it once in a while?

I love the note when it hits the limiter. And I don't intend to hit it in the 6th gear everyday or anytime soon till I get her to a track or find a perfectly deserted stretch. Just the first gear.

I also read about a secondary limiter for when the bike is in neutral. Is that present in a R15? One thing I noticed is that, the engine hits the limiter very fast(almost when the needle is crossing 8k) when it is stationary. Or is that just a needle lag or whatever you might call it.

EDIT- The last line is a question. All my rev-limiter hits last hardly two seconds before I up-shift. And thank you for replying so fast.

it means "don abuse the bike too much" keep doing that for fun, and you will end up with a non-healthy bike. i too hit rev limiter few times but only when m riding on 5th or 6th gear. do not continue to do so what you are doing. don take it personally but please respect the ride.

Yeah but make sure you are going in the right direction towards safety gears.

So I can hit it once in a while?

See its not mandate that you shouldnt, you can always but then be ready to pay when there is an engine job that might turn up. I know many who just red line in all gears (I use to) but now have learnt it the hard way and i so dont want you to go through the same thats all. Rest its upto you buddy.

I love the note when it hits the limiter. And I don't intend to hit it in the 6th gear everyday or anytime soon till I get her to a track or find a perfectly deserted stretch. Just the first gear.

Ohhh tell me about the note, supersport style, Just visit this site and imagine we have a better one than that - YZF-R125 2012 - Motorcycles - Yamaha Motor Europe Thats what the EU people use, we are blessed to have the R15

I also read about a secondary limiter for when the bike is in neutral. Is that present in a R15? Our RPM meters are so freaking precise that whenever you wish to deaccelerate the meter records its and there is a drop in position. No there is no needle lag, The engine is race tuned (not completely but minimal yes) thats why it revs quickly.

                                Use it with ease brother.
