  • Hi friends ,

Recently got my Red rachel back from 3rd Service , 7255 kms currently done
now i have some serious queries

Top end speed seems to be very dull when compared to previous run, now hardly could reach 115 km/h ,,, previously could do 125 pretty easily in a empty highway.

Radiator fan keeps on running just after a few minutes of my drive and doesnt stop still i power off, but no engine overheating light yet.

Mileage has drastically gone down from 38 ~ 40 KM/L to 34~35 UNDER normal riding conditions itself ( 60 to 75 km/hr ) in city.

    &

    To all chennai friends

my service centre is Jains Yamaha , Tnagar ( for first 3 services )
but i see worst customer service and quality from them.
is there any other better service centre in chennai ,, out of your experiences

Any suggestions for best stickering centre in chennai to customize our bike
im planning for a rossi replica for my red rachel
but i visited 2 shops but cudnt get it done

    expecting ur replies

Just wanted to know that is it normal, that I didnt get to know about the punctures in the beginning? I mean 5 punctures are a lot....
      Almost normal
I too experienced couple of punctures just after completing 3 months only.
Got very upset...so can understand what you are feeling.

      • Just decided to adjust the tappets myself and open up the kit, and removed the tank. Removing the clip of the tank was one hell of a job. But it was very easy after 1st time. . And here starts my doubts.
Has anyone tried it themselves? If so, after removing the tank, its hard reaching the screws (I meant the tightnings on the engine) because of lot many wires. But, I think I can reach it from the front. So I want to remove the radiator. So I stopped the work right there, put back tank and kits, and ride ...
Anyone tried this?, there should be an easy way to adjust it, right ?? Anyone?

Not surprising, previous bike had more than this number.

          • The little bolt on the silencer

            Hey friends,

Last day while i was standing beside the bike, I noticed that there was a small bolt on the silencer just under the rear brake pedal. Out of curiosity, i decided to remove it, and start the bike. It sounded loud, but not that good, but the real difference was felt when i rode the bike, I felt a difference in the power delivery of the bike, even though it was slight, but there was a difference that could be felt, more so in the mid range and in the top end.

But eventually I put the bolt back on since the sound wasn't that impressive, it was just like as if someone put a hole in the silencer. Im really curious to understand what that bolt is for and is it really there so that it could be removed for such purposes or is it for the mechanics to insert a probe into or something. In case you were wondering, here is a picture that shows the bolt.

The spanner is provided in the tool kit and you can try removing it and riding around yourselves, since its related to the exhaust and not the intake and since the system is an open loop, meaning there are no sensors to measure exhaust variables, it is technically, completely safe. Any explanations fellow R guys?

Try using a T spanner, coz when i got it done at the SVC i remember seeing him use a T spanner to remove those 4 bolts, and a small spanner he used from the side, no need to remover radiator, And after removing the bolts he removed the head cap from the side.U need to remove the fairing, Any one side will do , Try it and please update, even i wanna try doin it myself, do u have those feeler gauge strips ??

The thing is , I will have to purchase a T first. I have put it all back, now very lazy to do it again in the cold rainy climate Will update here.. I just cleaned the air filter which was too muddy and now gets a mileage of 46kmpl under extreme riding conditions..

                • Hey guys, had a question!

Is an owner of the bike allowed to watch while his/her bike is being serviced at a SVC??... I use to own an Apache previously and the SVC guys had a strict code 'WE DO NOT OPEN A BIKE IN FRONT OF THE OWNER'..thats what they told me...i was pretty bugged about it and just wanted to know whether there is such a code or regulation which denies the mechanic from opening up the vehicle in front of the owner or is it plain BULL-S**T??

                      • R15 2.0 Vs P220

I was in a hurry today so was riding fast. Was at the signal & as soon the signal turned green i released the throttle. Just to notice that a guy on P220 & other one on P200 were on both sides of my bike. I tried to overtake them but it was more like at same line. Soon i overtook them & all of a sudden the guy on P220 overtook me & the pillion sitting behind him shoved the helmet towards me trying to scared me at a speed of around ~90kmph. It was such an idiotic move from him. And ofcourse all of them not wearing helmets & riving so recklessly. I slowed down. When is Yamaha going to come up with a 200cc bike. Our 200 is enough for their 220. Although i dont drive recklessly. But i still feel P220 can win in a drag with R15 2.0. What do you guys think?

Iam not interested in comparing my bike with other one as i believe every bike has its own charm, if you are not satisfied you can sell it off, Lots of people in the waiting list. Others can take it ahead if they want to. And what are you trying to prove by posting this incident?

                          Edit - our 200??

                            • Had a monsoon trip to Meghamalai(near Kodaikanal).. The trip was all about bad roads/off-roading. I can say this was the worst roads i have ever seen.. But still the Rubbers and the suspension did a fair job! Did not have a puncture too.

On another note the paint quality on the fairings are of very low quality! It has already peeled off! Sad to see such a thing from Yamaha !

first thing buddy, dont try to intimidate or even get into street racing. i know you were not, but they were. if something happens then passerby's will tell tat you people were drag racing
the P220 is for street riding and R15 mostly for track. the bikes will behave differently on other conditions. obviously p220 has more power, so no point in cribbing about power of r15. i would say enjoy the R15 now, when yamaha comes up with higher cc bike then u will enjoy more
