Please guide me on the brand and rate of coolant available at chennai.
Please guide me for a bottle of lube + cleaner too...

Just to clarify, is it better to use mineral oil or semi-synthetic oil during run-in period? Since the R15 comes filled with the semi-synthetic oil from factory, will using mineral oil during the run-in period affect the engine in a positive or negative way, or does it necessarily mean that Yamaha recommends semi-synthetic oil during the whole lifetime of the engine, including the run-in period?

It's been 6 days since I have got my Sunset Red beauty, and have crossed 510KM on the odometer

, and I'm planning to do the oil change, oil filter change, chain lubrication, coolant top-up, battery water level check and tyre air pressure check tomorrow. Is there anything else I should ask the SVC guys to check?

Awaiting a reply from anyone who could help me with these

I would say go for SS oil as the baby comes with that by default. In fact i've cosulted couple of diff SVC guys also and got the same input.

Thats enough man...those check ups would suffice

wats this fuss about mineral SS and FS oil about?

the bike has SS oil from the first day itself, means its good for it and continue the same till few thousand KMs and then its your wish if you want FS or not. i think this topic is been discussed a lot and people just keep asking the same question

"wat oil to use?" lol.

left clip-on bent

Hi,

My left clip-on got bent in a spill. Went to the service center (JM Motors) tried to get it aligned but it still doesn't feel right.

Any idea how much a new left clip-on will cost?

As Suraj said, any engine oil would be fine!

Some of us have used Mineral for some kms during run-in!

Naah! A SMALL burst, that too post 500 kms, between 6- 7 K wouldn't screw.
Just dont stay on any RPM for a prolonged time.

According to service manual, 3000 kms/70 days from the date of previous service! Correct me if I'm wrong.

Also, if you are using the same oil, I would suggest you to change the oil once (Personally my opinion

), as you have already used this oil for 1450 kms, of which 750 kms was run-in.

AFAIK, SS oil if good for a minimum of 2500 kms.
But for constant ripping, like we do 9K + always

FS would be better!

Speedo error!

Any idea on the speedo error of R15?

I checked with a 2010- ZMA R,
I was around 10% more than the ZMA on the ODO.

And when checked with phone GPS, the ZMA had a 10% error!
44 on speedo, 40 on GPS.

So does that mean, R15 has 11% error?

Please help! Someone having access to a GPS can confirm.

Hi buddy,

Just because some of us joined this forum one or two days ago, doesn't imply we're newbies in biking. But then again, since we are playing with the engine of a super cool bike that is well over a hundred grand worth of rupees, I guess it's usual to have some concern; well at least I do.

And FYKI, I have been following this thread from the very first page, from the very first day onwards, but only joined here a couple of days ago. In fact I signed up here around 4-5 days back, but the forum administrators activated my account only 2 days back. And while I've been following this thread all along, I read many of you saying that the mineral oil would be best for the engine during the run-in period, and I even read it in various articles across the internet. However, I was a bit skeptic again as to which oil should be used during the run-in period, as Yamaha themselves fill in the semi-synthetic one from the factory itself, and so was my question.

Hi Frnds.... I am new to this forum.... I bought R15 ver 2.0, am happy to be proud owner but i am getting some engine problems like noise and vibration.... I have already changed the entire Head of the engine but still not statisfied with that.....

. Frnds i need suggetions to overcome this problem pls help guys.....

yes i will change the oil at 2nd service. i will go for FS little later, may be at 3rd service.

yhea less weight helps :P

there were lots of cross winds too, we crouched fully n rode

A bit of advice; if you really want help you will need to provide more specifics of your problem. Like:

1. How much your bike has clocked?
2. Why did you need to change the entire head?
3. By the entire head, do you mean to say the all components such as valves, valve springs, rocker arms were replaced?
4. At what rpm/ speed is the vibration coming into play?
5. What sort of noise?

Details, my friend, details. The more information you are able to provide, the better someone on the forum will be able to help you.
