  • Bought my new R15 last week.

Hey all, just recently purchased the sunset red R15 v2, i first ordered black and the dealer asked me to wait for a month, 2 days later he called me and said that there was a red one that arrived in the truck that day and was cancelled by the would be owner. So i decided to purchase that one.

I was always a performance guy, my first bike was the Apache 150 then came the RTR 180 and now the R15 v2. Compared to the RTR 180, i think that in a drag, both of them would be identical in terms of pickup, its only when the 6th gear comes on that the rtr wont be able to match else, they both would be neck and neck. But when it comes to handling the R15 is on another league, but one another area where they both match is in the braking. the RTR does have razor sharp brakes even with those pathetic tyres, my R15's brakes are in the break in period but so far i think its the same as the RTR, so really dont know more. Overall im pretty satisfied with the R15, only problems i find is the rear seat which makes pillion riding a huge pain and it also makes carrying a shoulder bag when riding a huuuge pain. Hope to find some solution to the problem soon enough. Here are the pics of the bike.. Did a bit of Photoshop to bring out the bright red.

I also thought of some color modification schemes as i think that the existing color combination when compared to the LE version has something missing.
Here are the pics of the same. Do give inputs on what would be the best.

    Original pic

I added white stripes on the wheel instead of red

Colored the rear seat red along with the white stripes, got this idea from the white R6 that has the same red seat.

In this one I colored the tail and engine area with grey instead of white.

Heres another pic i modified to the same effect

    Original

As you can see, the difference is just huge. I mean just look at the last two images, one of the original bike and that of the modified one in black. its a massive change.

Please do mention your opinions on the same. I was thinking about carrying it out since the white tail does not highlight that awesome upswept single line of the rear tail and i had saved some cash by not going for the LE model cuz i could make mine completely a UE (unique edition) with the saved cash and still have a lot left. When looked at from the side. And i do think the black adds a level of flair that is just too good. I think it would be mind blowing in person. Thoughts please.

Dude, in my opinion, please do not make any changes to the Sunset Red version. It is unique in its own way, and believe me, it turns eyes more than the other color variants, even more than the LEs. If there is a showstopper, then it is the Sunset Red

Hi. I bought my bike at JMB(Jain Moto Bike) Yamaha, T.Nagar. I didnt go with Ambal because he said waiting period is 20 days and the showroom is quite far from where I live. Main thing is waiting period.

JMB Yamaha has been good to me except not approving the loan scheme I initially picked(I bought through Finance). But that must not be their fault as they have their rules/restrictions for providing the loans. I had to choose a different loan scheme with higher down payment in the end.

I will be getting my White LE baby R this wednesday or thursday with registration completed.

Xtra premium is unleaded hence not a issue. Just make sure that the petrol bunk from which you fill petrol is a good one and reputed to give unadulterated fuel.

personal opinion- fancy numbers dont remain fancy after a period of time and hence no point in spending extra. That money could be added to riding gear fund.

asc use recommended grade oil so its safe on that front.

I hv had always follwed the law and a very responsible rider but some situations come in ur life where you behave little childish, you just do things without thinking.
In the end you learn from your mistakes whch i'm doing and i would like to thank Abhimanyu bcoz he did a responsible job to explain me my mistakes.
You are right, everyone learn from mistakes. Do you have a licence to ride? you just went and took the test and sit home waiting for the licence? The first factor in the motorcycle book is helmet. And its not learning from mistakes, its just common-sense, right? Anyway leave this topic here. Be a responsible rider from now on .

                Hi Guys,

I need advices and suggestions from R 15 owners. I have been to lot of rides ever since i bought the new R 15. While i am ridin alone i can cross 100-120 kmph very easily. But when i am riding with a pillion, it is very hard to touch even 100 kmph!No matter how hard i rev, it just struggle to reach the 100 kmph mark.

One of my frens has R15 version 1, and he can touch 130kmph with pillion.

Now is this because of the extra weight tht my bike will struggle to reach 100 kmph mark or is it because there is not enough power to pull two persons weight to a high speed?

                  hehe.
Ofcourse i do have a license.I have been riding bike since 8 years now and i never went anywhere without helmet.
When I came home from office(morning 9-11.20pm) i just took my bag from the car and kept it in my room. The bag included my wallet, bike papers, license and the thing was from morning i didnt get time to start the engine so just thaught to ride inside the colony but dont know what made my mind change and i thaught to take her out.All these things happened in a couple of mins and for a couple of mins i had thrills,it was like a wow feeling but then i knew what i did was wrong.
                  Anyway Chuck it.

PS:Common sense is not common these days :P

There must be something wrong. How fat is your friend ? Check tyre pressure, adjust chain and try again . If no use, ask svc to check it out. My v2 can reach 130 with a pillion..

My personal opinion says the grey/ black color mod looks awesome atleast in pics...Plus the red rear set would look better with grey/ black tail..

I did not get any sponge.
Petrol - Normal unleaded petrol is good enough.
Tank pad - Its better if you have it, specially if you use a jacket and a belt. Will avoid fading on that part of the tank over time. Looks cool too

Not usual. Like Ivin, I can reach easily reach 110 with a pillion, can push it to ~125. No stress in reaching 110 at all.

I would suggest not bugging the battery with any more sensors. I am sure you would get used to not having side stand alarm soon.

                              • Got the service done from sprint Yamaha Bangalore.. charged me 850 rs.. Gear shifting is smoother than before.. but i am feeling minor vibrations near tank in lower speeds.. is that normal?.. i dont feel any vibrations in higher speeds.. Initially i was not getting any vibrations at 3.5k rpm with 60 speeds but now at the same speed feeling vibrations.. If i ride it in 5k or more than 5k rpm's no vibrations.. Guys any idea on this?..
