i agree to what you all and the manual say for break-in.

BUT.. Maybe bike manufacturers are being super cautious at the expense of your motor's performance? I think that they take the cautious route that works over time (1000 miles, or about 20 hours of break in) versus a faster route that can be more easily screwed up."

Can all you expereinced guys out there please provide your feedback for the below article ??

              New Engine Break-in Procedure

              TIA
Question is would you like to try it on your bike just to find out it didn't work and engine had a catastrophic failure?? or follow the the super cautious approach recommended by the manufacturer??

However i would differ from the manufacturer's recommendation in one way... would suggest to replace the oil filter and engine oil post 200-250 kms. and then the next engine oil change right away at 1000 kms. first 100-200 kms are when the internals of the engine generate maximum amount of metal filings as they rub against each other and start to set in...
would recommend sticking to mineral oil for the first 3000 kms and then shift to semi synth/ full synth.
              Cheers

                          • Got the bike registered today. So far 100kms in three days. No problems whatsoever. Happy with the quality. Pampered myself with a Ls2 FF358 concept, full black helmet. Good quality product and VFM.

                            • Speedometer not working properly

From yesterday evening my speedometer has stopped indicating the speed. Only when I turn my bike it starts for few seconds and again stalls on 0. Has the speedometer wire to ECU become loose because when I move the wire bundle below the fairing its starts woking properly for some time and then again stops? Also the engine warning light came on twice but again when I moved the wiring it became off. I will be going to the service station in the evening after office.

Also which is the best service station is Pune? I bought the bike from Monarch Yamaha so had done the first service there itself day before yesterday. I think the wire must have become loose during the servicing.

Anyways completed 1200 km in 15 days. On Highway getting an average of more than 50 and in city riding more than 45. But this average was when I maintained a constant 4 to 5 rpm speed. Now as I have completed the first service i will be testing the full potential of my bike. Will this affect the average and smoothness... I mean after hitting the top speed will I get the same average I am getting now if I ride ride with speeds below 60?

My exeperience with my old bikes (P150 and P220) was very bad as initially it used to 70 and 40 respectively and when I started riding fast (max speed) avg went down to 50 and 30 repectively for both the bikes and never went to the initial one even after riding at normal 50 to 60 km/hr speed? Also the engine smoothness had completely disappeared.

About the ride comfort on R15 - It still pains in the palms not the wrists but some how I am addicted to riding on it and feel very bored when I sit on any other bike. There is no back or shoulder pain.

Another thing I would like to share is that i feel the bike is underpowered at low rpms till 4 or 5 as I was used to the power of 220 (its gives adrenaline rush) but the same is compensated by the extremely good average as I have to travel around 70km daily.

Thats all for now... will soon write about the top speed once I test it.

As you said that the problem occurred after you got your bike serviced, so you should go back to the same service station i.e Monarch Yamaha to rectify your problem without charging you any amount.

Yes, hitting the top speed will definitely affect the average. It will be far less than what you get by ridding at below 60 speeds. As speed increases, mileage decreases. This holds true for any vehicle in this world

                                P220 & R15 have a totally different power band.
