    Hey thanks...

But regarding the average and speed my question was that if I ride the bike at high speeds around 120 - 130 for long time and then when I come back to normal 60 - 70 range will I get the normal average which I am getting now or the average will permanently decrease once I hit top speed. This was my earlier observation on my old bikes...so will it happen in case of r15?

Which is the best service center in Pune? Is it Monarch yamaha or Factory shop?

Any revving over 5k will consume considerably more fuel than the ideal amount of fuel.Consider it this way.Your fuel delivery system will give a certain amount of fuel to the engine to keep the engine running.once you gun the throttle, the fuel air mixture enters the combustion chamber faster than your idling rate. Thus the more fuel you give, the faster combustion happens and higher the revs and more fuel consumed.

Now while you are on gear and moving, the engine tries to make an ideal situation where the maximum amount of fuel input is converted to energy(Please mind that is excluding all factors such as drag ,engine thermal capacity and such). This for single cylinder vehicles designed in India normally comes about 30-50 KMH.At this speed, most of the fuel going into the cylinder is converted into energy, thus giving you optimum distance for the amount of fuel consumed.

Anything above that you are giving an extra input of fuel, which while generating higher amounts of power consumes a disproportionate amount of fuel. This reaches it's zenith when redlining the bike when you are feeding it extra amount of fuel to keep the combustion chamber cool.

Going in 120-130 is the peak of the powerband for most indian motorcycles.your fuel economy will take a big hit. And i also see no logical reason for your FE average to decrease permanently, unless you regularly hit 130 in the running in period.

        Thats quite satisfactory reply..Thanks...

Now as I have already completed my running period of 1000km with proper care I hope it does not affect the FE avearge permanently. Or do you guys suggest me to complete some more km before hitting the top speed?

Ideally I would change the engine oil after 200kms and then after 500kms and then 1000kms(all mineral)then i would rev much more but would still avoid redlining(would ride at peak torque).I would only rev heavily after 2000 kms after i have switched to SS oil.

In your case i would still avoid the redline til 2000KMS,but feel free to ride at peak BHP(just shy of the redline).

I changed the oil only during the first service . Surely will follow your adivce Sir ...My bike is more precious to me than testing of the top speed...will let her munch more miles before testing her limits

When should I start using fully synthetic oil? I think Motul is the best one right?

To be fair to you i don't own a R15.I own a RTR 180.Although i have already booked one and will receive it after the bike is launched(5 months from now maybe) where i live.If i'm not mistaken the switch to fully synthetic should only be done after 6k Kms.I would recommend that you stick to semi synthetic from 2500Kms till 6000KMS.Synthetic oils cling to the engine internals preventing fiction thus inhibiting mating. So all in all FS/SS oils during the first 2000Kms screw up your running in.

I think the R15 uses 20W50 oil.Motul seems to be the brand preferred by many Xbhpians(On the RTR ownership thread anyway).Do some market research and you will have the answer. And whatever you do make sure that the winter grade on your engine oil (W50 in this case ) matches the
              specification of the bike.

The first 2000Kms of the bike is the most important phase of a motor vehicle and it determines the performance and reliability of the vehicle for it's entire lifespan.

Will this affect the average and smoothness... I mean after hitting the top speed will I get the same average I am getting now if I ride ride with speeds below 60?
That's an insane economy figure you are getting
are you sure your calculations are correct? because off all the v2 owners I inquired nobody came up with such a figure. For me even under sanest riding, wasn't able to get something above 40

From what I've read and heard, everyone says using any kind of synthetic oil for first 8000kms is complete no-no, why's that ? What could be the reason behind it ?
The only thing standing in your way, the ONLY thing you can count on, at any given time.. Is YOU

Ya I am also surprised/happy by the economy I am getting. I used the full tank method to calculate the average. Initially I filled BP Speed petrol and got an average of 44.8 (The F indicator came on 448 km). 2nd time I used Super Shell. I rode 398 kms (reading 846km) and again filled Super Shell for 3rd time... required 7.53L to completely fill the tank...so 398/7.53 = 52.85..but these 398 were a mixture of both city and highway riding. The next full tank was also on Super Shell and this time got an avg of 46 (only city riding). I think the main reason for getting such a high average is the fuel quality and obvi maintaining a 4 to 5 rpm speed.

Hey thanks buddy for the valuable info. Will fill SS oil during the second service.

On speedometer part - Yest I went to the service station...to my shock I came to know the speedometer sensor of my bike is faulty and will need to be replaced. And the worst part is as this is a new bike the new sensor isn't available and will be delivered in 8 to 10 days ...

Consciously I had a dream to buy a bike with International standards and features.

                            • @everyone - The best way to measure R15 fuel efficiency is as soon as you hit Reserve rush to the closest pump and fill petrol in litres like 5-8-10 dont say full tank, as that can never give you right figures, as the R15 though claimed 12 litre s it can fit 13 litres too. Check with sarvajit who has experimented it.
