I need advices and suggestions from R 15 owners. I have been to lot of rides ever since i bought the new R 15. While i am ridin alone i can cross 100-120 kmph very easily. But when i am riding with a pillion, it is very hard to touch even 100 kmph!No matter how hard i rev, it just struggle to reach the 100 kmph mark.

One of my frens has R15 version 1, and he can touch 130kmph with pillion.

Now is this because of the extra weight tht my bike will struggle to reach 100 kmph mark or is it because there is not enough power to pull two persons weight to a high speed?
The top speed of V2 is not atall less than V1,in fact a bit greater than V1.
    Now coming to your point,
    How old is your bike?
    Has it completed the run-in?

Moreover, the weight of Rider+Pillion is a great factor for the speed (simple physics ).
So, if all the above constraints are satisfied and though u r not getting the top speed as V1, only SVC guys can help !!!!

A little vibration at lower RPM is common as I am experiencing that as well. So chill, but if its really bothering you then consult the SVC guys.
I mean it may be beyond what I am thinking.

Hmm okay.. as of now its a minor vibration.. and also svc guy said that the sound which comes from the front fork when the bike goes on hump is actually not from the forks... the sound is generated from rubbing of clutch and break cables it seems..

        • 300 km's on ODO

          Guys i have completed 300 km's on ODO .

We went for a ride ( Too & Fro 80 km's ) , i had no patience to maintain the RPM limits on/below 4 k RPM ( i.e speeds 45 - 60 km/hr ) all other vehicles were cruising at very high speed so that if we were crawling means , they are crossing us in one feet gap . Thus i maintained the bike between 4 - 5k RPM ( i.e speeds 60 - 72 km/hr ) i was varying the speed limits .

My Observation on today's Ride -

          1. I went through a deep pot hole at 45 km/hr speed , but i din't feel any jerk , but the pillion felt hard jerk from the head - foot and she just skidded towards me .

          2. The fuel efficiency was 40 km/liter .

          3. After reaching the city limits , when i pulled the bike from stand still position , When the RPM needle crossed 2 - 2.5 k mark , there was a strange sound from the engine ( like Chuck chuck chuck , I'm not telling the gear knocking sound ) but after it crossed 3 k RPM mark that sound disappeared . Whats was that sound ?.

          4. My R15 rider + pillion seat is cushioned a little bit . But , when i compared the other R15 V 2.0 on the showroom and on my friend's bike it is like wooden seat . So the problem facing by the pillion is , the rear seat is slippery ( if i leave the throttle means she just skids )

          5. The pillion felt so much of pain in her right knee ( She says all her body weight is getting balanced on the right knee ) Can any one tell proper seating position for the pillion ?

          6. What is the correct air pressure can be kept for riding with pillion ? i asked the shell bunk guy to keep front - 30 psi and rear 35 psi ( but he kept front - 21 psi and rear - 36 psi , he said while removing the air nozzle from the wheel air tube , it will be reduced by - 1 )

PS - Still i din't receive my owner's manual . They say it will take one more week .

          Can any one clear my 2 nd , 5th & 6th question .

          Thank you

            no offence but you are creating the problems for yourself by not reading the manual and not even demanding the showroom guy for it. i must appreciate your observation skills though [ i mean we guys ride and have fun rather then try to find minor faults while riding}
            1. happens with everyone on pretty much every bike. since this is the R15 V2 there are little more chances.
            2. cool, decent. {donno what exactly to clear here }
            3. no idea.
            4. what kind of material was the dress your pillion wearing? only your bike's seats cant be different.
            5. experiment with it. no one will get it proper soon. happens with everyone.
            6. again i say get the manual soon, having half knowledge about something is dangerous then having no knowledge at all. its 28 for the front and 33 for the rear.
go and grab that guys color and ask for the manual

For the 5th question, if the pillion was leaning sidewards during the ride on either side(mostly people tend to lean right side), it affects the particular knee. This can happen in any vehicle.

The manual says 28 and 33. Be sure that the tires are cool(you haven't been driving for too long) when you're checking air pressure. I cant help with the other problems but I hope you find the answers, its a real fun bike once you settle down

                • Guys,

I am gonna maintain this bike as a close friend .... I am gonna cover the bike daily night with the Bike cover , but i want a nice Bike cover for it , which i am still searching for

                  1) I today went to a shop to buy a bike cover for the bike , but when i covered it on the bike , it covered only half the height of the bike ..the part from the Footrest to tire was uncovered ..and i was unsatisfied , when i went to return the cover he said , thats the largest sized cover he had ...he told it can cover even a Bullet bike ...but it didnt cover from the middle to the bottom ...

Does anyone know any shops from Chennai , which has Bike Covers for R15 V2 , like it should be fully covered ...

                  2) Plz tell the correct Tire Pressure for R15 V2.0 with Single user and with 2 Users ...Some say 28 and 33 , others say 30 and 35 , plz say which is correct ...?

Yes, I am done with my run in period. Bike has already covered 2000+ kms. I do not have any prob in attaining top speed single, but the prob comes up when i am ridin with a pillion.. May be your point about Rider+Pillion is the cause out here...

                      • There must be something wrong. How fat is your friend ? Check tyre pressure, adjust chain and try again . If no use, ask svc to check it out. My v2 can reach 130 with a pillion..

LOL.. my fren is not fat at all.. He is a tall n lean guy.. But yeah i am gonna try again..

could you tell me at wat RPM you changed the gears when u touched 130 kmph with pillion?

Change after rev limiter kick in ...

It would help more if you change margially before the rev limiter kicks in (in between 10 - 10.5k RPM)
Further, going back some pages, i remember DrVenom saying letting the rev limiter kick in is the worst thing u can do to your engine..

                              Hi,
I've done around 3000 kms ODO. So just sharing the experience about that pillion seating position.
If your pillion is light weight then she/he can take support by holding your body.
But what i felt is if the person is much heavier than you, then its very difficult when you apply brake. So the best solution is to ask the pillion to have a support by holding the fuel tank any time required.

                              Thats what I meant.

Hope this would be helpful. but in any case V2 is not made for pillion.
